120). A lot of experts can't come to a unanimous conclusion to the definition of this abstract term, but in all of the wast definitions, we can gather a conclusive parallel. When we are defining the term creativity, we are talking about the ability to devise multiple solutions and ideas that arise from a certain problem or task. Although the term is abstract, it is becoming more important in the educational system. The influence of creativity has been recognized in this field and because of that the new curriculum has become more open and flexible (Blažević, 2015, str. 120). Because of this, the use of creative workshops has become increasingly important, not only because they have a positive influence on gaining knowledge, motoric, and emphatic skills in children, but also the positive impact on their psyche. This point is proven in the research conducted in this thesis where there were 10 creative musical workshops conducted with elementary school students. All of the workshops had a different approach, space, and tasks, but all of them brought more than positive results and, with that, proved the importance of the, at least partial, use of creative workshops in teaching

The topic of this paper is genetically modified crops, how the media presents them, and, more specifically, how this influences the public. The paper presents genetically modified crops as a bioethical problem precisely because they affect human health, society, and the environment. The “Golden Rice Project”, presented as a solution to world hunger and high mortality rates, did not meet the expectations and justified its opponents' suspicions. The paper mentions Monsanto, one of the world’s leading companies producing genetically modified crops, and the affairs of farmers that the company wanted to end by all means necessary. The beginnings of bioethics in Croatia are described, and three critical documents that marked the start of the battle for the Republic of Croatia, which is free of GMOs, are pointed out. The documents are the Appeal for Ethical and Legal Regulation, Lošinj Declaration on Bioethics Sovereignty, and Lošinj Statement for Croatia free of GMOs. The paper deals with the current state of biotechnology and genetic engineering in Croatia, researches if we can find GMO products on the shelves of our shops, and what is required by the law when it comes to products whose GMO content exceeds 0.9%. The way that opponents and representatives of GMOs form public opinion through the media is presented. While the opponents stress the risks and call upon caution, the representatives emphasise the advantages of GMOs. The paper focuses on the analysis of the printed media “Glas Slavonije”, “Jutarnji list”, “Večernji list”, and “24 sata” to understand how the reporting of GMO crops affects the public and if their perception causes fear and uncertainty

This thesis deals with the topic of dogs as pets, animals that are accepted as part of the family and are considered man's best friends. The goals of this work are to find out the frequency of owning a dog as a pet, to see its impact on the emotional and psychological health of the family members to which it belongs, to find out how the dog helps people with physical or mental difficulties, to analyze the most common responsibilities of family members regarding the care of a dog, and to investigate the impact of ownership a dog as a pet on the amount of time spent outdoors and its impact on the social life of the respondents. The dog is an animal that was domesticated throughout history and eventually became so attached to people that today it is completely normal to see it as part of the family. Dogs are descendants of wolves, dangerous animals, independent hunters, which is visible in the dog's body shape and the speed they possess. Today, we distinguish many breeds of dogs, from the smallest dogs with shaggy hair that weigh 1 kilogram, to dogs that have no hair, all the way to the largest dogs, with long or short hair, that can weigh up to 90 kilograms. In this paper, the very beginning of the appearance of dogs is presented, their anatomical and physiological characteristics, their character and behavior, the establishment of a relationship with people and their influence on human life are explained. Some dogs are just pets, they keep their people company and provide them with love, support, comfort, while some are more than that. A dog is an animal that, thanks to its character, can perform duties in public services such as the police and the army, but also provide assistance in the rehabilitation of needy persons

Čitanje se smatra osnovom svegaTo teach a child to read, it is necessary to go through several steps to adapt their brain to this process. Observing others reading can give the child the impression that reading is socially acceptable and desirable, but mere observation is not sufficient to initiate reading. The process of basic reading represents the first and crucial step towards further education and life successes. During this phase, it is important to identify all possible difficulties the student may have and to react to them promptly. Every child has the right to understand what they read. If problems with basic reading are not recognized in time, the child will lag behind in a system that expects progress from them, which will be difficult to achieve. Therefore, it is crucial to understand how the brain acquires skills that are not naturally predisposed, namely how we teach it to read. In education, we often forget the fundamental purpose of reading. Students often learn material, receive grades, and then quickly forget it. Many definitions pass through the student's mind, much knowledge is acquired and then lost. Reading should not be one of those passing definitions. We read to gain knowledge, to inform ourselves, and to learn many things in various fields. Reading is considered the foundation of everything

    Plato and eugenics

Although not much is known about Plato's personal life, we can safely say that he is one of the greatest philosophers of all time. One of Plato's most famous and significant works is The State. Chronologically speaking, the work States belongs to Plato's writings of the mature age. One of the earliest discussions of eugenics comes from Plato's "State". It shows what a just city-state would look like. In his work, Plato proposes a rigged lottery to give superior ruling class members - called "guardians" - a more significant opportunity to reproduce. The offspring of those deemed "inferior" would then "be secretly taken away by the officials and almost certainly left to die, along with the visibly defective offspring of the superior guardians." This part of Plato's philosophy can be compared to eugenic sterilisation. The subject of this paper is Plato's philosophy and the influence of his teachings and works on eugenics throughout history up to the present day. Plato's and other eugenics programs coincide in several elements of implementation. Programs have a crucial role in achieving the goals assigned to the state, that is, to its rulers, but there are also differences between them, the biggest of which is manifested in the goal itself. The goal of Plato's eugenics was to achieve justice, and intellectual and moral perfection, while Nazi eugenics aimed to preserve a "pure" Aryan society through various racial and biological but inhumane measures

For children of early and preschool age, music plays a significant role in stimulating overall development, so musical activities should be performed daily. Although the methodological structuring of musical activities is mainly taught for kindergarten-aged children, this does not mean that younger children should not have musical activities. Moreover, if the teacher possesses the skill of playing another instrument besides the usual piano and synthesizer, it would be beneficial to include that instrument in work with the children. The flute is an instrument with great historical importance and remains a popular choice among children enrolling in music school. Due to the author's personal skill in playing the flute, this paper explores how the flute can be incorporated into musical activities in the specific working conditions of a nursery group. The research was conducted through an analysis of the available literature on the topic and action research in the preschool institution of the city of Slavonski Brod, the "Potjeh" Kindergarten, "Palunko" sub-center, where musical activities were conducted using the flute in the "Loptice" nursery group

This paper discusses the development of a child's emotions, emotion regulation, attachment and the impact of parents on the child's emotional development. The aim of this paper is to explore the key roles that pets play in the development of children's empathy. Pets are an important part of a child's life, influencing their overall development, particularly the development of empathy—the ability to recognize and understand the emotions of others and to respond in ways that are appropriate to those emotions. Through interaction with animals, children learn to care for other living beings, which fosters the development of compassion, empathy, patience, and responsibility. This interaction also positively impacts children's social behavior by reducing aggressive behavior and promoting the development of skills such as cooperation, sharing, and teamwork. The presence of animals can provide children with a sense of security and support, further encouraging the development of emotional stability and empathy. The paper analyzes how different types of pets can contribute to these processes and explores how these positive changes manifest in children's everyday interactions with peers and adults. Special attention will be given to examining how the presence of animals in the home environment shapes a child's future relationships and social skills, as well as how animals can serve as catalysts for children's emotional and social development in general. The paper will also include practical advice for parents and on how to maximize the potential of animals in fostering empathy in children

Emotional intelligence is a set of traits that includes self-awareness of one's emotions, managing emotions, self-motivation, recognizing emotions in others, and successfully navigating relationships. The traits that define emotional intelligence are prerequisites for developing emotional skills, also known as emotional competence. Possessing emotional competence is an important factor in achieving success in various areas of life, and engaging in artistic activities can enhance the development of emotional competence. This study aimed to determine whether there is a connection between emotional competence and students' artistic creativity in the Teacher Education program at the Faculty of Education in Osijek. The study was based on a review of relevant literature, previous research, and the survey results. A quantitative study was conducted using an online survey among students of all academic years in the Teacher Education program in Osijek, which revealed a partial correlation between emotional competence and artistic creativity. Specifically, the research results indicated that students who engage in artistic activities in their free time do not have a significantly higher level of emotional competence than those who do not engage in artistic activities in their free time. However, it was found that students who frequently engage in artistic activities during their free time have a significantly higher level of emotional competence than those who reported rarely engaging in such activities
