ODGOVOR BENTOSKIH MIKROBNIH ZAJEDNICA NA ANTROPOGENA OPTEREĆENJA PRIOBALNIH ZONA ISTOČNOG JADRANA
Marine coastal ecosystems are consistently exposed to multiple human-induced pressures, which inevitably impact the environmental status of marine sediments. Sediments are highly diverse habitats inhabited by responsive and adaptable marine microorganisms. Microbial indicators are considered potentially valuable tools for monitoring pollution and for guiding the development of marine protection strategies and policy frameworks. This doctoral thesis aimed to investigate the responses of benthic prokaryotes, fungi and protists to chronic anthropogenic pressures in coastal zones of the eastern Adriatic. Total DNA was extracted from sediment samples collected across seven polluted ports and bays. A multilevel approach was employed to investigate microbial structure, functions and interactions. High-throughput sequencing (amplicon and metagenomic sequencing) and advanced statistical methods were used to assess changes and define microbial indicators of anthropogenic pressures. The results demonstrated shifts in microbial diversity and community structure between contaminated and non-contaminated locations, highlighting the presence of both tolerant and sensitive taxa. Furthermore, biogeographic patterns emerged as critical factors in shaping microbial communities in marine sediments. Through differential abundance analyses, prokaryotes were identified as the most promising indicators, while protistan and fungal communities showed limited reliability. Notably, members of Rhodobacteraceae, Thermoanaerobaculaceae and Ectothiorodospiraceae exhibited contamination tolerance, while sensitive taxa such as Lactobacillaceae and Pseudomonadaceae were more abundant in non-contaminated sediments. Heavy metal stress was shown to significantly weaken microbial interactions, particularly between prokaryotes and protists, potentially disrupting essential ecosystem services. Additionally, the Boruta algorithm identified 47 microbial taxa and 44 genes that differentiate between contaminated and non-contaminated locations. Several taxa from the family Bacillaceae demonstrated resistance to heavy metals and tributyltin, confirming their potential role in developing bioremediation strategies for polluted sediments. The findings of this doctoral thesis suggest that microbial communities have the potential to serve as indicators of anthropogenic pollution and support their integration into environmental assessments and policy frameworks, such as the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD) of the European Union. In summary, this study provides valuable insights into microbial community dynamics in vulnerable coastal ecosystems facing continuous anthropogenic pressures.Morski obalni ekosustavi kontinuirano su izloženi brojnim pritiscima uzrokovanima ljudskim djelovanjem, što neupitno utječe na ekološko stanje morskih sedimenata. Sedimenti su staništa visoke raznolikosti naseljena morskim mikroorganizmima osjetljivim i prilagodljivim na promjene okoliša. Mikrobni indikatori smatraju se potencijalno vrijednim alatima za praćenje onečišćenja te usmjeravanje razvoja strategija zaštite mora i odgovarajućih politika. Cilj doktorskog rada bio je istražiti odgovore bentoskih prokariota, gljiva i protista na kronična antropogena opterećenja u priobalnim područjima istočnog Jadrana. Ukupna DNA izolirana je iz uzoraka sedimenata prikupljenih u sedam onečišćenih luka i zaljeva. Primijenjen je višerazinski pristup koji je obuhvatio analizu strukture, funkcija i međusobnih interakcija mikrobnih zajednica. Za praćenje promjena i identifikaciju mikrobnih indikatora antropogenog opterećenja korištene su metode sekvenciranja nove generacije (na razini amplikona i metagenoma) u kombinaciji s naprednim statističkim analizama. Dobiveni rezultati ukazali su na razlike u mikrobnoj raznolikosti i strukturi zajednice između onečišćenih i neonečišćenih lokacija, pri čemu su identificirane i tolerantne i osjetljive skupine bentoskih mikroorganizama. Biogeografski obrasci prepoznati su kao ključni čimbenici u oblikovanju mikrobnih zajednica u morskim sedimentima. Analiza diferencijalne zastupljenosti istaknula je prokariote kao najučinkovitije indikatore, dok su protisti i gljive pokazali manju pouzdanost. Članovi porodica Rhodobacteraceae, Thermoanaerobaculaceae i Ectothiorodospiraceae pokazali su toleranciju na onečišćenje, dok su osjetljive skupine, poput porodica Lactobacillaceae i Pseudomonadaceae, bile češće zastupljene u neonečišćenim sedimentima. Utvrđeno je kako stres uzrokovan prisutnošću teških metala značajno narušava mikrobne interakcije, osobito između prokariota i protista, što može imati negativni utjecaj na ključne usluge ekosustava. Nadalje, Boruta algoritam identificirao je 47 mikrobnih taksona i 44 gena koji jasno razlikuju onečišćene od neonečišćenih lokacija. Nekoliko taksona iz porodice Bacillaceae pokazalo je otpornost na teške metale i tributilkositar, potvrđujući njihov potencijal u razvoju strategija bioremedijacije onečišćenih sedimenata. Spoznaje proizašle iz ovog doktorskog rada ukazuju na potencijal mikrobnih zajednica kao indikatora antropogenog onečišćenja te podupiru njihovu integraciju u procjene stanja okoliša i okolišne politike, poput Okvirne direktive o morskoj strategiji Europske unije. Ovo istraživanje pruža značajne uvide u dinamiku mikrobnih zajednica u osjetljivim obalnim ekosustavima pod stalnim antropogenim opterećenjima
Relationship between convective storms and Adriatic meteotsunamis based on satellite imagery
Cilj ovog rada jest prikazati povezanost konvektivnih oluja i meteotsunamija u Jadranskom moru koristeći satelitske snimke. Meteorološki tsunamiji ili meteotsunamiji oscilacije su razine mora u spektralnom području tsunamija, ali u kojima primarna pobuda oscilacija u moru dolazi iz atmosfere. Postojeća literatura dijeli atmosferske pobude na mirne situacije koje najčešće uključuju propagirajuće težinske valove i pripadajuće perturbacije tlaka zraka pri tlu te olujne situacije u kojima je perturbacija tlaka zraka pri tlu uzrokovana konvektivnim sustavom. Tijekom zadnjih dvadeset godina zabilježeno je nekoliko meteotsunamija na obali Jadranskog mora i za te događaje pribavljene su satelitske snimke u sklopu EUMETSAT-a. Snimke su procesuirane u programskom jeziku Python pomoću knjižnica Satpy i OpenCV kako bi se pratile konvektivne oluje u blizini lokacija gdje su zabilježeni meteotsunamiji. Rezultati ukazuju da je u većini meteotsunamija bila prisutna konvektivna oluja te da je brzina gibanja oluje usporediva s brzinom valova u otvorenom moru, što upućuje na postojanje Proudmanove rezonancije.The objective of this thesis is to utilize satellite imagery to illustrate the correlation between convective storms and meteotsunamis in the Adriatic Sea. Meteorological tsunamis, or meteotsunamis, are sea level oscillations within the tsunami spectral range, where the primary trigger of the oscillations originates from the atmosphere. The existing literature distinguishes between atmospheric triggers in normal situations, which most often involve propagating gravity waves and the accompanying near-surface air pressure perturbations, and storm situations, where the air pressure perturbation near the ground is caused by a convective system. Over the past twenty years, several meteotsunamis have been recorded along the coastal regions of the Adriatic Sea. Satellite imagery have been obtained for these events as part of the EUMETSAT framework. The images have been processed using the Python programming language with the Satpy and OpenCV libraries to track convective storms in proximity to the locations where meteotsunamis were recorded. The results indicate that a convective storm was present in the majority of meteotsunamis and that the speed of storm propagation was comparable to the speed of open sea waves, which implies the existence of the Proudman resonance
Activity comparison of the common tern (Sterna hirundo) during nesting in freshwater and marine habitats
Crvenokljune čigre (Sterna hirundo) su morske ptice koje se kolonijalno gnijezde na morskim i slatkovodnim staništima. U inkubaciji i podizanju mladunaca sudjeluju oba roditelja. U svrhu istraživanja dinamike ponašanja na gnijezdima crvenokljunih čigri različitih staništa prikupljene su serije fotografija načinjene fotozamkama smještenim na tri kolonije: dvije slatkovodne i jednoj morskoj. Fotografije sa sedam gnijezda sortirane su temeljem stanja SJEDI, PORED i NEMA temeljenih na položaju ptice na gnijezdu. Izračunato je dnevno trajanje svakog stanja, trajanje stanja do promjene i ukupni broja promjena, a analiza je napravljena i za dijelove dana. Analiza je provedena u programskom jeziku R koristeći se neparametrijskim statističkim testovima. Utvrđena je značajnu razlika u vremenu provedenom na gnijezdu među gnijezdima unutar istog, ali i među različitim tipovima staništa. Ptice na gnijezdima slatkovodnih kolonija značajno su više vremena provodile inkubirajući, dok su ptice na morskim kolonijama značajno više vremena bile odsutne, što se povezuje s lakše dostupnim izvorima hrane na slatkovodnim staništima. Predacija, intraspecijsko antagonističko ponašanje, iskustvo jedinki u gniježđenju i meteorološki uvjeti mogući su dodatni utjecaji na vrijeme provedeno u inkubaciji.The common tern (Sterna hirundo), nests colonially on both marine and freshwater habitats with incubation and chick rearing being shared parental responsibilities. In order to research the dynamics of incubation behaviour in this species, series of camera trap photographs taken between May 2021 and May 2023 were collected from three different colonies, one of which was from a marine and the two from freshwater habitats. Photographs of seven nests were sorted into three states (incubating, near nest and not present) for which the state duration per day, the state duration until change and the number of state changes were calculated. The same calculations were repeated for different times of day. Nonparametric statistical tests were conducted using the R programming language. Incubation times differed significantly among nests from the same and different habitats. Individuals on freshwater colonies spent a significantly longer time incubating, while birds from the marine habitat spent a longer time away from nest, both of which can be related to more predictable prey availability at freshwater sites. Predation, conspecific antagonistic behaviour, breeding experience and meteorological conditions are additional factors affecting incubation activity for this species
Self-excited terahertz oscillator based on dielectric-ferroelectric heterostructure
Već dugo poznata pojava negativnog električnog kapaciteta predstavlja način povećanja efikasnosti tranzistora, ali izvorno javlja se kao nestabilno stanje oko faznog prijelaza, odnosno granice između paraelektričnog i feroelektričnog stanja. Upravo ta nestabilnost uzrokuje pojavu histereze odnosno tromosti zakretanja spontane polarizacije feroelektrika i time onemogućuje njegovu primjenu na visokofrekventne elektroničke uređaje u praksi. Cilj ovog rada nastavlja se na prethodne napore stabilizacije područja negativnog kapaciteta feroelektričnog sloja oko kojeg se “lijepe” dielektrični slojevi u poznatu heterostrukturu, preko poznatog ponašanja feroelektrika da formira Kittelove domenske slojeve. Za takav sustav, u kojem domena polarizacije u smjeru polja raste na trošak smanjenja polarizacijske domene okrenute suprotno polju, izračunata je funkcija električne permitivnosti i uvjet dobivanja negativnog kapaciteta, razmotren je pojednostavljeni model dinamičkog režima u kojem domene i vanjsko polje opisujemo prisilnim harmoničkim oscilatorom u svrhu dobivanja okvira radnih frekvencija vanjskog polja za koje sustav stabilno oscilira. Istražena je mogućnost nastanka stabilnog graničnog kola Hopfovom bifurkacijom, tj. samopobuđenog oscilatora bez vanjskog tjeranja, u RLC krugu koji sadrži element s negativnom kapacitetom. Iznesen je zaključak provedene analize, ograničenja i potencijalne nadogradnje modela.The well-established phenomenon of negative electrical capacitance offers a method to enhance transistor efficiency. However, it initially manifests as an unstable state near the phase transition-the boundary between paraelectric and ferroelectric states. This instability leads to hysteresis, or the inertia in rotating the spontaneous polarization of the ferroelectric, which has hindered its practical application in high-frequency electronic devices. This study builds upon previous efforts to stabilize the negative capacitance region of the ferroelectric layer. It explores dielectric layers that are incorporated into a known heterostructure, leveraging the ferroelectric’s tendency to form Kittel domain layers. For a system where the field-direction polarization domain grows at the expense of the oppositely-oriented domain, we calculated the electric permittivity function and the conditions for achieving negative capacitance. We also presented a simplified dynamic regime model, describing the domains and external field as a forced harmonic oscillator. This approach aimed to determine the range of external field operating frequencies that allow stable system oscillation. We investigated the feasibility of generating a stable limit cycle through Hopf bifurcation-specifically, a self-sustaining oscillator devoid of external excitation-within an RLC circuit incorporating an element exhibiting negative capacitance. The analysis concludes by presenting the model’s limitations and potential improvements
High Stress Drop and Slow Rupture During the 2020 MW6.4 Intraplate Petrinja Earthquake, Croatia
Here we analyze the rupture process of the December 29th, 2020 MW6.4 Petrinja earthquake (Croatia), the largest event instrumentally recorded in this area characterized by a moderate strain-rate intraplate setting. We use foreshocks and aftershocks, recorded at more than 80 broadband stations located 70 km to 420 km from the earthquake, as empirical Green's functions (EGFs) to separate source effects from propagation and local site effects. First, we deconvolve the mainshock P-wave time windows from the EGFs in the frequency domain to obtain the corner frequency (fc). Spectral analysis based on the Brune's source model reveals a large stress drop of 24 MPa. Next, by deconvolving the Love waves in the time domain, we calculate the Apparent Source Time Functions (ASTFs). We find that the average duration of the source is ~5 s, with no significant directivity effects, indicating a bilateral rupture. To extract physical rupture parameters such as rupture velocity, slip distribution and rise time, we deploy two techniques: (1) Bayesian inversion and (2) backprojection onto isochrones of ASTFs. Both techniques show a low rupture velocity (40-50% of the shear wave velocity) and a rupture length of less than 10 km, i.e. much less than would typically be expected for a magnitude 6.4 earthquake. This apparent anticorrelation between stress drop and rupture velocity may be attributed to the complex and segmented fault system characteristic of immature intraplate settings
Hidromorphological status and perspectives of revitalisation of the river Jadro
Rječica Jadro, „hrvatski Jordan“, vodoopskrbna je žila kucavica Solina i širega splitskoga područja od antike do suvremenosti, ali i jamac opstanka stanovništva od samih početaka naseljenosti u njezinu poriječju. Ona je i ekosustav jedinstvenih hidroekoloških obilježja, sve više pritisnut urbanizacijom, turistifikacijom i onečišćenjima. Upravo i s ciljem poboljšanja njezina narušena hidroekološkoga stanja te postizanja održive ravnoteže rijeke i čovjeka u budućnosti provedeno je istraživanje kojemu je glavni cilj bilo predlaganje revitalizacijskih mjera u koritu. Uz prethodnu pripremu temeljenu na dostupnim kartografskim izvorima i literaturi dosadašnjih istraživanja, tijekom ljeta 2024. terenskim je izvidima utvrđeno i dokumentirano zatečeno hidromorfološko stanje rijeke u cijeloj dužini njezina toka. Nakon obrade i usporedbe terenskih i literaturnih podataka, metodom hidromorfološke ocjene provedeno je hidromorfološko vrednovanje Jadra po prethodno određenim dionicama. Na temelju te procjene odabrana su tri lokaliteta u vodotoku na kojima su predložene revitalizacijske mjere u smjeru oprirodnjenja toka uklanjanjem navedenih vodotehničkih zahvata i uređenjem naplavna područja.The Jadro River, known as the "Croatian Jordan", is not only the water supply artery of Solin and the wider urban area of Split since antiquity, but also an ecosystem of unique hydroecological characteristics, increasingly pressured by urbanization, tourism and pollution. It is precisely with the aim of improving its deteriorated hydroecological status and achieving a sustainable balance between the river and humans in the future that a study was conducted, the main goal of which was to propose revitalization measures in the riverbed. With prior preparation based on available cartographic sources and literature from previous research, during the summer of 2024, field surveys determined and documented the current hydromorphological state of the river along its entire length. After processing and comparing field and literature data, a hydromorphological evaluation of the Jadro was carried out using the hydromorphological assessment method along previously determined sections. Based on this assessment, threelocations in the watercourse were selected whererevitalization measures were proposed in the direction of naturalizing the flow, i.e. removing unnecessary water engineering interventions and regulating floodplains
Deforestation of the Amazonia and its impact on the hydrological properties of the Amazon River
Amazonsko porječje najveće je porječje na svijetu te njene prašume zauzimaju najvećim dijelom prostor Brazila. Amazonija je također i najvažniji, svjetski ekosustav. Deforestacija Amazonije predstavlja alarmantan problem kako za Južnu Ameriku tako i za cijeli svijet s obzirom da je stanište 10 % svim biljnim i životinjskim vrstama na Zemlji. Temeljni uzroci deforestacije Amazonije na prostoru Južne Amerike koje brojni autori navode su uzgoj soje i stoke, eksploatacija rudnih bogatstava, izgradnja prometnica, hidroelektrana. Deforestacija Amazonije znatno utječe i na hidrološka obilježja rijeke Amazone na količinu padalina, sedimentaciju, temperaturu površine tla, površinskog otjecanje, kvalitetu vode, pojačavanje erozije, degradaciju tla itd.The Amazon Basin is the largest basin in the world, and its rainforests primarily cover the territory of Brazil. The Amazon is also the most important global ecosystem. Deforestation of the Amazon represents an alarming problem not only for South America but for the entire world, considering that it is home to 10 % of all plant and animal species on Earth. The primary causes of deforestation in the Amazon, as cited by numerous authors, include soybean and cattle farming, mineral exploitation, and the construction of roads and hydroelectric plants. Deforestation of the Amazon significantly affects the hydrological properties of the Amazon River on precipitation level, sedimentation, surface temperature, surface runoff, and water quality, and it also intensifies erosion and soil degradation, among other impacts
Fourierova transformacija
Ovaj rad se bavi temeljnim konceptima i primjenama Fourierove analize, uključujući Fourierov red, Eulerovu formulu i Fourierovu transformaciju, te pruža praktičan primjer implementacije Fourierove analize u programskom jeziku Java. Rad je podijeljen u nekoliko ključnih poglavlja.U prvom poglavlju objašnjava se Fourierov red, koji je način izražavanja periodičnih funkcija kao zbroj sinusnih i kosinusnih funkcija različitih frekvencija. Uvod u nizove i redove pruža osnovu za razumijevanje Fourierovog reda, čija je važnost u analizi periodičnih signala.Drugo poglavlje posvećeno je Eulerovoj formuli, koja povezuje eksponencijalne funkcije s trigonometrijskim funkcijama i predstavlja ključni alat u Fourierovoj analizi. Poglavlje uključuje primjenu i interpretaciju Eulerove formule, kao i način prijelaza Fourierovog reda u eksponencijalni oblik, čime se olakšava manipulacija kompleksnim signalima. Treće poglavlje bavi se Fourierovom transformacijom, koja proširuje koncept Fourierovog reda na neperiodične funkcije i omogućava analizu širokog spektra signala. Prikazani su matematički aspekti transformacije, osnovna svojstva, te diskretna Fourierova transformacija (DFT) i brza Fourierova transformacija (FFT), koja omogućava efikasnu analizu velikih podataka.
Četvrto poglavlje donosi praktični dio rada, uključujući opis algoritama i kodiranje Fourierove analize u objektno-orijentiranom programskom jeziku Java. Implementirane su dvije klase, \textit{Complex} i \textit{Fourier}, koje omogućuju rad s kompleksnim brojevima i izvođenje Fourierove analize. Na kraju se nalazi kompletan kod i prikaz rezultata.
Ovaj rad pruža teorijski i praktični uvid u Fourierovu analizu, naglašavajući njezinu važnost u analizi signala, obradi podataka i raznim primjenama u inženjerskim i znanstvenim disciplinama.This paper addresses the fundamental concepts and applications of Fourier analysis, including Fourier series, Euler's formula, and the Fourier transform, and provides a practical example of implementing Fourier analysis in the Java programming language. The paper is divided into several key chapters. The first chapter explains the Fourier series, which is a method for expressing periodic functions as a sum of sine and cosine functions with different frequencies. An introduction to sequences and series provides the foundation for understanding Fourier series, which is essential in the analysis of periodic signals. The second chapter is dedicated to Euler's formula, which links exponential functions with trigonometric functions and serves as a key tool in Fourier analysis. This chapter includes applications and interpretations of Euler's formula, as well as the transition of the Fourier series into exponential form, making the manipulation of complex signals easier. The third chapter focuses on the Fourier transform, which extends the concept of the Fourier series to non-periodic functions and enables the analysis of a wide range of signals. The mathematical aspects of the transform are presented, along with its basic properties, the discrete Fourier transform (DFT), and the fast Fourier transform (FFT), which allows efficient analysis of large datasets. The fourth chapter presents the practical part of the paper, including descriptions of algorithms and the coding of Fourier analysis in the object-oriented programming language Java. Two classes, Complex and Fourier, are implemented to facilitate working with complex numbers and performing Fourier analysis. The complete code and results are presented at the end. This paper provides both theoretical and practical insights into Fourier analysis, highlighting its importance in signal analysis, data processing, and various applications in engineering and scientific disciplines
Dinamika na hiperprostoru jednodimenzionalnih kontinuuma
Whenever we are given a selfmap of a compact metric space , we can associate with it the induced mappings and on the hyperspace of compact subsets of and the hyperspace of continua in , respectively, both defined in a natural way. This thesis concentrates on the relationship between the certain properties of selfmaps of some one-dimensional continua and of the induced mappings on their respective hyperspaces of subcontinua. Specifically, first we present the equality of the topological entropies of the arbitrary graph map and its induced mapping on the hyperspace of subgraphs. In order to do so, we characterize the set of subgraphs which are recurrent under the induced mapping. Further, we describe the structure of -limit sets of the induced mapping on the hyperspace of continua for an arbitrary graph map. Strictly speaking, we prove that any subgraph is either asymptotically periodic, wandering or almost all of its iterates lie in a subsystem which is an almost 1-1 extension of irrational rotation, thus generalizing the earlier results obtained in the cases of compact intervals and topological trees. In the last chapter of the thesis, for every tree map , we establish the relation between the periods of the subtrees which are the periodic points of and the periods of periodic points of contained in those subtrees. We close the thesis by showing how the latter result can be used in order to prove some properties of the induced system on the hyperspace of continua. For any tree map , we provide complete description of the Birkhoff center of and prove its almost equicontinuity.Kad god je zadano preslikavanje na kompaktnom metričkom prostoru , možemo mu pridružiti inducirana preslikavanja i na hiperprostoru kompaktnih podskupova od i hiperprostoru kontinuuma u , redom, oba definirana na prirodan način. Kroz disertaciju smo usredotočeni na istraživanje odnosa između određenih svojstava preslikavanja na nekim jednodimenzionalnim kontinuumima i njihovih induciranih preslikavanja na pripadnim hiperprostorima potkontinuuma. Preciznije, prvo se bavimo uspostavljanjem jednakosti topoloških entropija proizvoljnih preslikavanja na topološkim grafovima i njihovih induciranih preslikavanja na hiperprostorima podgrafova. Kako bismo to postigli, karakteriziramo skup podgrafova koji su rekurentni s obzirom na inducirano preslikavanje. Nadalje, opisujemo strukutru -graničnih skupova induciranog preslikavanja na hiperprostoru kontinuuma za proizvoljno preslikavanje topološkoga grafa. Strogo govoreći, pokazujemo da je svaki podgraf asimptotski periodičan, lutajuć ili su gotovo sve njegove iteracije sadržane u podstustavu koji je gotovo 1-1 proširenje iracionalne rotacije. Ovaj rezultat poopćava ranije dobivene rezultate u slučajevima kompaktnog intervala i topološkog stabla kao baznih prostora. U posljednjem poglavlju disertacije za svako preslikavanje na topološkom stablu uspostavljamo odnos između perioda podstabala koja su periodičke točke od i perioda periodickih točaka of , sadržanih u tim podstablima. Za kraj pokazujemo kako upravo spomenuti rezultat može biti koristan pri dokazivanju određenih svojstava induciranog sustava na hiperprostoru kontinuuma. Naime, za proizvoljno preslikavanje na topološkom stablu dajemo potpun opis Birkhoffovog centra od i dokazujemo njegovu gotovo ekvikontinuiranost
Micropaleontological and sedimentological characteristics of the cores from the Jadrtovac salt marsh (Central Dalmatia)
Unutar ovog rada istraživano je područje slane močvare kod Jadrtovca (srednja Dalmacija) bušenjem četiri sedimentne jezgre duž profila slane močvare. Sediment iz jezgri podijeljen je na intervale, laboratorijski obrađen, određene su mu sedimentološke karakteristike, nakon čega je podvrgnut metodi razgradnje organske tvari pomoću 30%‑tne otopine vodikovog peroksida. Potom je uslijedila detaljna mikropaleontološka analiza pod stereoskopskim mikroskopom. Svi uzorci su pregledani i izdvojena im je foraminiferska zajednica. Foraminifere su određene prema rodu ili vrsti. Sediment je u konačnici klasificiran kao mulj s manjim udjelima pijeska i šljunka. Od foraminiferske zajednice dominiraju bentičke, perforatne foraminifere Opažene planktonske foraminifere uglavnom su pretaložene iz fliškog zaleđa. Objašnjen je nastanak slane močvare i promjene taložnih okoliša te pomoću prisutnosti antropogenog materijala, okvirna starost sedimenta jezgre do jednog metra.In this thesis, the area of the salt marsh near Jadrtovac (Central Dalmatia) was investigated by drilling four sedimentary cores along the profile of the salt marsh. The sediment from the cores was divided into intervals, laboratory processed. Its sedimentological characteristics were determined, after which it was subjected to the method of decomposition of organic matter using a 30% solution of hydrogen peroxide. This was followed by a detailed micropaleontological analysis under a stereoscopic microscope. All samples were examined and their foraminiferal assemblage was isolated. Foraminifera were defined by genus or species. The sediment is ultimately classified as mud with smaller amount of sand and gravel fractions. The foraminiferal assemblage is dominated by benthic and perforated foraminifera. Detected planktonic foraminifera were mainly redeposited from the flysch hinterland. The genesis of the salt marsh and changes in depositional environments alongside the approximate age of the core sediment up to one meter is explained
