    Crowdsourcing Environment Data with Gamified Augmented Reality Mini-Games

    Remote sensing for observing and recording our surroundings is becoming mainstream. Technologies, such as light, detection, and ranging (LiDAR), are now part of consumer mobile devices and provide a variety of novel interaction opportunities with the environment. Mobile remote sensing also provides affordances for crowdsourcing through location-based applications such as games and gamified systems. While such use cases today are technologically feasible, there is a lack of understanding of how and what kinds of interactions and applications would be both (1) engaging and motivating for users and also (2) maximize the volume and quality of the data being gathered. In this study, we investigate these challenges by developing and testing four gamified augmented reality prototypes that use LiDAR for collecting point cloud data during location-based gaming. Through field testing, interviews, and surveys with 21 participants, followed by reflexive thematic analysis, we identified five themes of dynamics, which exemplify tensions and challenges to designing gamified AR crowdsourcing. The findings primarily point to hazards in design that may undermine user motivation as well as constraints of the environments themselves in facilitating and affording meaningful and rich (gameful) interaction

    Crossing boundaries in interprofessional collaboration: A case of gerontological social work field education

    Interprofessional collaboration is crucial in providing holistic care services for older adults, requiring professionals to overcome various barriers. This study aims to explore how interprofessional collaboration can be facilitated in gerontological social work field education. This research was conducted in the context of a field placement in which social work students collaborated with a care team in a nursing home in China. Data were collected through focus group interviews with students (N = 55) and one teacher’s observation note (N = 1). A qualitative directed content analysis was conducted, guided by the ‘crossing boundaries in interprofessional collaboration’ theory framework. Nvivo 14 was used to manage codes and support data analysis. The findings revealed that interprofessional collaboration in social work field education involves crossing cultural, attitudinal, expertise-related, and structural boundaries by finding a common language, broadening understanding, developing competence, establishing shared knowledge, and acknowledging the complexity of the work environment while integrating resources. This study highlights the potential of the ‘crossing boundaries in interprofessional collaboration’ framework in guding the design of educational programs that promote interprofessional collaboration in gerontological social work practice

    Johtamisdialogi sosiaalisen ja taloudellisen kestävyyden johtamisessa

    Tietoperusteinen johtamisdialogi – kykyä toiminta- ja taloustiedon yhteensovittavaan johtamiseen (TieDi) -tutkimushankkeessa tutkittiin sosiaalisen ja taloudellisen kestävyyden johtamista sekä toiminta- ja taloustiedon yhteensovittamista kuntajohtamisessa. Hankkeen tavoitteena oli lisätä ymmärrystä siitä, millaista osaamista ja millaisia organisatorisia kyvykkyyksiä tarvitaan tietoperusteisen johtamisdialogin rakentamiseksi ja kestävän kunnan kehittämiseksi. Hankkeen toteutuksesta vastasivat Tampereen yliopisto ja Itä-Suomen yliopisto. Päärahoittajana toimi Työsuojelurahasto, ja osarahoittajina sekä tutkimus- ja kehittämiskohteina olivat Hämeenlinnan ja Kangasalan kaupungit. Tässä TieDi-hankkeen loppuraportissa kokoamme hankkeen keskeiset tulokset niin tutkijoille, kuntien johtajille ja kehittäjille kuin kaikille aiheesta kiinnostuneille. Raportti korostaa yhteisen tiedonmuodostuksen merkitystä kestävyyden johtamisen edellytyksenä ja tarkastelee johtamisdialogia tämän tiedonmuodostuksen areenana. Toivomme raportin herättävän ajatuksia ja keskustelua siitä, miten sosiaalisen ja taloudellisen kestävyyden näkökulmia voitaisiin entistä paremmin huomioida ja edistää kuntajohtamisessa – ja laajemmin julkishallinnon johtamisessa. Raportin pääluvut toimivat itsenäisinä kokonaisuuksina, mutta koko raporttiin perehtyminen tarjoaa kattavimman kuvan näkemyksistämme sosiaalis-taloudellisen kestävyyden johtamisesta. Luvussa neljä esitellään yksityiskohtaisesti Hämeenlinnassa ja Kangasalla toteutettu kehittämistyö, joka tarjoaa mallin vastaavan johtamisdialogin kehittämisprosessin soveltamiseen muissa organisaatioissa. Kiireiselle lukijalle suosittelemme erityisesti lukua kuusi, jossa tiivistetään hankkeen tärkeimmät tulokset. Jokaisen luvun lopusta löytyy keskeiset lähteet ja lyhyet lisälukemistot syventymistä varten

    Acid–base interactions in luminescent silver(i) and gold(i) complexes with phosphine–phosphinate/phosphinite ligands

    Hybrid phosphines with anionic hard donor functions can be used to create an adaptable ligand environment for soft late transition metals. Herein, we show that the change of coordination of a diphosphine–phosphinic acid (P3OOH) in response to acid–base interactions or hydrogen bonding results in structural transformations of a disilver complex [Ag2(P3OO)2] (1) to give solvated and protonated derivatives [Ag2(P3OOH)2]2+ (2) and [Ag3(P3OO)3H]+ (3), accompanied by the alteration of the quantum yield of the solid-state photoluminescence from 0.06 up to 0.69. The related diphosphine–phosphide oxide complexes [M2(P3O)2] (M = Ag, Au) are oxidized to phosphinate compounds 2 and non-luminescent [Au2(P3OO)2H]+ (5) in the presence of triflic acid. Alternatively, [Au2(P3O)2] readily accommodates an additional gold(I) ion to yield a trinuclear cluster [Au3(P3O)2]+ (6), which is brightly sky-blue phosphorescent in the crystalline state (Φem = 0.76). The phosphide oxide group −P[double bond, length as m-dash]O in 6 is stable towards oxidation under acidic conditions in solution but undergoes protonation that results in two orders of magnitude (>170-fold) increase of the emission intensity. Complex 6 acts as a guest in the crystalline matrix of 5 due to their structural similarity and affords solid solutions with bright luminescence at a doping content of 1–2%
