Enhancing the well-being of others: instructors’ precarious work in the wellness sector in Finland
The chapter examines the experiences of yoga and group exercise instructors’ work in Finland. It is reasonable to consider instructors’ work in general as precarious gig work, which leads to a poor labour market position if the instructors are not multi-jobbing or have no other arrangements to protect themselves against the uncertain nature of the sector. Moreover, their work is considered ‘women's work’ in a highly gender-segregated labour market. The chapter shows how an expanding area of vastly gendered work plays an important part in undermining existing employment regulations in the context of the Nordic welfare state. Several problems concern the instructor's pay, unpaid work and working hours. The chapter concludes that instructors may seriously consider the position of an independent contractor as an alternative to a worker's position since, compared with workers, self-employed instructors may find themselves in a stronger labour market position

Pääkirjoitus: Nikean kirkolliskokous teki teologiasta julkista
1700-vuotisjuhlia on harvoin, mutta 2025 onkin poikkeuksellinen vuosi monella tapaa. Vuonna 325 järjestettiin Nikeassa, Bitynian maakunnan pääkaupungissa, kokous, jolla tuli olemaan suuri vaikutus siihen, millaiseksi kirkon julkinen asema Rooman valtakunnassa muotoutui. Samalla kristillisestä teologiasta tuli uudella tavalla julkista. Keisari itse osallistui piispojen kokoukseen ja isännöi sitä. Kirkolliskokouksesta käytetään myös nimityksiä konsiili ja synodi
