Clerical abuse in Chatolic Church characteristics of abusers and guidelines for prevention through formation
This paper speaks about clerical abuse of minors in Chatolic Church. In this part we can see some declinations of general populations and some specificity of clerical population.
Fourth part of this work is dedicated to characteristics of sexual abuser. By these characteristics we can recognize i diagnose their preferences. Fifth part is about prevention of sexual abuse in Chatolic Church. We can prevent abuse through recognition potential abusers and through upbringing and formation for priesthood in seminary
The understanding of the office of a bishop according to the Secound vatican council
Time dolazimo do zaključka našega rada. The main theme we want to adress in this thesis is the way the Second Vatican Council recognizes the role and the mission of a bishop of the Church. This topic is actual in various theological sub-disciplines, but we will adress it mainly form the ecclesiological aspect, while also taking into account other theological aspects. The basis of this thesis are the two of the council documents that sistematically approach the role and the mission of the bishops of the Church. Those documents are the Dogmatic Constitution on the Church – Lumen Gentium, and the Decree on the Pastoral Office of Bishops in the Church – Christus Dominus. The thesis is divided into seven chapters, and it begins with biblical approach and biblical fundamentals of the office of a bishop, so as with the role it had in the first christian communities. The second chapter adresses the development of ecclesiology with regards to the office of a bishop, beginning from the apostolic and the fathers of the church who established it, through medieval theology, all the way to the theological thoughts of the council fathers of the First Vatican Council. This type of approach gave the needed introduction of the following chapters that deal sistematically with the office of a bishop in the way the Second Vatican Council understands it. The third chapter brings the new views of the Second Vatican Council, while the fourth chapter elaborates the Second Vatican Council's teaching on the consecration of a bishop. The fifth chapter analyses the relation of a bishop to his local Church, and in that respect brings the Second Vatican Council's interpretation of his triple role in the Church. After the exposition of the role a bishop has in his local Church, the sixth and seventh chapter explain the bishop's role in the universal Church. Therefore, this thesis also deals with the College of Bishops of the Catholic Church and in the end with the Synod of Bishops in the Catholic Church. This concludes the thesis
SAINT JEROME AND HIS CORRESPONDENTS
After his birth in Stridon and receiving the basic education, Jerome went to Rome for further education. His life takes him to various locations where he met many people he will keep correspondence with.
Besides setting an example in his Christian way of life, he was also an extraordinary expert for the Holy Scripture. In order to become as successful in translating and reading the texts of the Holy Scripture as possible, he brings his Hebrew and Greek to perfection. The reasons for his writing are various, some of the motives that made him correspond were many disputes regarding the leadership of the presbyterate church or missing kind words from the people he had met before.
He kept correspondence with many people who lived in different parts of the Roman Empire. Some of them were residents of Rome, Aquileia, Stridon, Emona, Jerusalem and many other places his letters could reach. The link between those people, apart from the fact that they were in correspondence with him, was the Christian faith in Jesus Christ. The epistles are filled with quotes from the Holy Scripture and emphasize the virtues we should all possess as brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ
Via pulchritudinis-the power of the image in Christian religious education
The content of this master’s thesis is motivated by the desire for deeper recognition of the importance and role of art within human reality, especially in the life of the Church. The thesis will be structured in three interconnected parts. In the first part we intend to show the historical overview and ambience within which the thought and the reality of art existed, following the paths of various historical culturological epochs that are as well marked by Christian ideas. Below, the theological way of beauty - via pulchritudinis - will be presented with the aim of illuminating the correct view of art and its fundamental Source - the Creator whom St. Pope John Paul II introduced to us. In the manner of concluded so far, in the third, and also the final part, we will focus on the power of the image, observing it in the light of various theological and cultural uses, with an emphasis on its existence in the present life of the Church. Through passed way, therefore, focus of the work will shift in the direction of presenting and bringing forward the proclamation, creation and testimony which the image, as an artistic expression of the good, could have had in the education of the present but also the future generation
Theological perspective of beatitudes in the Gospel according to Mathew and in the Gospel according to Luke
The thesis is devoted to studying the beatitudes of Matthew and Luke. It consists out of three parts. The first part deals with beatitudes in a general way, outlining the fundamental characteristics of their appearance in the Old and New Testament and placing them in the context of the Gospel of Matthew apropos the Gospel of Luke. The connection between the beatitudes in the Old and the New Testament is evident as the beatitudes of Jesus is based on the books of the Old Testament. Nevertheless, it is important to emphasize that in the Old Testament we dont have carefully worded a series of beatitudes, as we do in the New Testament Sermon on the Mount (cf. Mt 5 - 7) or the Sermon on the Plain (cf. Lk 6: 17-49).
The second part contains the theological analysis of the beatitudes in the Gospel of Matthew and the Gospel of Luke. The Matthew's version of the batitudes (cf. Mt 5: 1-12) is divided into three groups, because through the three titles we can see what is the core of a certain beatitude, who is it destined for, and who is commited by it. Beatitudes in Luke's Gospel (cf. Lk 6: 20-26) are divided into two groups. Luke divides them into four “blessed” and four “woe”, that is how we are gonna devide them in this thesis aswell. In the Matthew's version, there are three beatitudes (cf. Mt 5: 7-9) that make up a single thought unit for which we have no parallel in the Gospel of Luke. They rise above the sociological characteristics and reflect the spriritualized Christian morality that is characteristical in the First Gospel. Thus, theological analysis suggests that Matthew puts more emphasis on spirituality, while Luke through four “woe's” and four “blessed” focuses on a concrete life community and historical listeners of his time.
The third part, which is also the last, aims to complete what has been said in the previous two parts. Hence, in the latter part after the confrontation, we will show a glimpse of the similitudes and differences between the specific aspects that can be seen in the beatitudes of Matthew and Luke. At the end of the work we notice that the beatitudes that Christ brings in Matthew's and Luke's version are trying to give answers to Christians living in the time when thoose Gospels were written. Thus, Matthew and Luke formulate their speech so that the historical community to whom they are writtting receives stimulus for dealing with their issues
MORALLY BIOETHICAL REVIEW OF PHARMACOLOGICAL ABORTION
Najnoviji pristup u kontekstu biomedicinskih znanosti predstavljaju kontracepcijske metode.
Although there is a long history of unethical abortion, through various techniques, the focus of this work is to analyze and discuss modern discoveries of the pharmaceutical industry of medical abortion from an ethical and biological point of view.
Most recent advances in biomedical sciences promote numerous contraceptional methods, which in fact are not truly contra-ceptional. Through various and generic denomination of interceptive, congestive and abortifacient substances, are declared as “plan B”, “morning-after pill” or “emergency contraception”. These can be applied even several weeks after unprotected intercourse.
Those abortifacient substances are often presented to the public as “harmless”, “cheap” and “respectful to the woman’s autonomous right to choose”. It is advertised that they “provide privacy protection” and other misleading information, while leaving out the slightest mention of the consequences caused by abortion.
The main goal of this master thesis is to point out undisputed bioethical, moral and theological accents of holiness, inviolability and dignity of human life
Moral qualification of premarital sexual relations
In today's secularized world, most tend to reject God and challenge the Church's competence on certain issues, especially those of love and sexuality.
Sexuality is presented as an anthroloquean fact without a religious dimension, entrusted to a man to do with it as he pleases, and every attitude of the Church in that regard is imposed as aversed to and connected with sin.
Youth, without stalemate and narration points for proper inheritance, are subjected to such definitions of moral-religious involution that leads to a wholly void and a crisis of traditional morality.
Contemporary society followers, especially young declared believers, in the pursuit of their own identity often approach the area of sexuality the same way they approach all other areas of life, without taboos and repressive interpretations - thus reducing it to pure corporeality.
Such banalist attitude towards sexuality in the permissive atmosphere of contemporary culture is also analytically underscored by the results of previously implemented socioreligious projects that have clearly shown that the sexual morality of today's youth is greatly distanced from the official teaching of the Church. There is a noticeable increase in pre-emptive sexual relationships, surprisingly predominant with girls, an increase in tacit or open parental approval of such behavior, either due to their own insecurities or the desire to establish better relationships with children, an increase in the dismissal of traditional marriages in favor of open relationships and “trial marriages”, the dissociation of youth from the Church due to different interpretations of sexual morality.
Due to the moral decadence of sexuality, it is necessary to promote the ethics of sexuality through the implementation of adequate sexual education by moral-catechetical and pastoral orientations
Clive Saples Lewis on Love and Pain
U radu predstavljamo poimanje ljubavi i boli sjevernoirskog mislioca Clive Staplesa Lewisa. Misli završavaju optimizmom i nadom u nebesko zajedništvo svih ljudi s Bogom. This work represents the concept of love and pain by the intellectual from the Northern Ireland - Clive Staples Lewis. The first part is dedicated to different aspects of love, which are love for something that is under men, storge, philia, eros and agape. Lewis tends to restore love in modern era, by the image of love as presented in Christianity. God who created the man and invites him into the heavenly fellowship is love. The second part portrays Lewis`s understanding of pain. The author views pain in context of God`s goodness, omnipotence, fall and human evil. According to Lewis, pain has a functional task to dispossess a man of his egoism and return him to God. His thoughts end optimistically with a hope in heavenly fellowship of all men with God
"World angelology" in the light of the Catholic faith about angels. The analysis of selected examples
Naše promišljanje o katoličkoj i svjetovnoj angelologiji podijelili smo u tri zasebna dijela. Prva dva dijela ovoga rada predstavljaju nam temeljne obrise katoličke i svjetovne angelologije, dok je treći dio rada posvećen temeljnim razlikama između dva navedena područja.
U prvom dijelu rada iznijeli smo kratki prikaz katoličke angelologije.
Drugi dio rada posvetili smo promišljanju o svjetovnoj angelologiji. Pokušali smo odgovoriti na ključna pitanja poput tjelesnosti anđela, djelovanje anđela u svijetu, postoji li Bog, hijerarhija i Isus Krist u svjetovnoj angelologiji.
We divided our contempleation on Catholic and secular angelology into three separate parts. The first two parts of this diploma paper present the basic outlines of Catholic and secular angelology, while the third part focuses on the fundamental differences between the two mentioned parts.
In the first part, the outline of the Catholic angelology is presented. In the beginning, we clarified the etymological meaning of the term angel and tried to briefly answer the question of who the angels are in Catholic theology. Furthermore, we discuss the so-called hierarchy of angels, the relationship between angels and God and man, and the care of angels for people and the whole creature. At the end of the first part of this diploma paper, we pointed out the problems and attemps to reconstruct angelology.
The second part of the diploma paper is devoted to contemplating on secular angelology. We tried to provide the answer to the crucial questions such as the corporeality of angels, the work of angels in the world, God's existence, hierarchy and Jesus Christ in secular angelology. We also put the emphasis on the presence of the anthropomorphism in the selected work (D. Trussoni, Angelology) for consideration on secular angelology. Towards the end of the second part, we referred to the work Angels in my hair by the author Lorne Byrne, thus widening out perspective on consideration of secular angelology.
Finally, in the third part we decided to point out the basic differences between Catholic and secular angelology. Also, we discuss why eagerness with secular angelology rules, and what Catholic teology can learn from it. Lastly, we discuss one topic which has been somewhat neglected, which is the activity of angels in the lives of the saints
The coming of the Son of Man: Exegesis- theological analysis of acocalyptic speech Mt 24-25
The thesis is devoted to the exegesis-theological analysis of Matthew's apocalyptic speech about the coming of the Son of Man and to the preparation for a personal encounter with the glorified Lord (Mt 24-25). The first part of the paper is devoted to the analysis of the multifaceted and layered phenomenon of apocalyptic that occurs in response to the centuries-old crisis of the chosen people. Therefore, the first part of the thesis answers the questions of the origin, creation, development and fundamental characteristics of apocalyptic literature.
The second, central part, provides an exegesis-theological analysis of Mt 24-25, starting with the delimitation of the text, the literary context, and the syntactic articulation of the reports that constitute the »entrance door« to the meaning of the text itself. In the light of the results of the research of the previous chapters, the fourth and last chapter is devoted to a more detailed exegetical-theological analysis of Mt 24-25.
The basic intention of Mt 24-25 is to encourage the Christian community of Matthew's time, but also every other time, because it was in a whirlwind of turmoil and tension of the unfavorable historical situation. In Jesus' apocalyptic speech, Matthew's basic message remains that Jesus' disciples are responsible and committed, above all, to building their own community, and that they, starting from themselves and their environment, are vigilantly awaiting the return of Christ. Specifically, the last time began with the coming of the incarnate Son of God and is on its way to completion, and it is the task of the believer at all times to remain faithful, alert, and ready for His coming, despite ignorance »of that day and hour« (Mt 24, 36)
