Effectiveness of Early Intervention Programs for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder
Background: Autism spectrum disorder is one of the most common developmental disorders, which affects the way a child learns and gains certain skills. Intervention programs aid in the development of these skills and allow children with autism to reach their full potential. Purpose: The following paper examines the effectiveness of early intervention programs on the social, behavior, and cognitive skills for children with autism spectrum disorder. Methods: Participants will be recruited from local schools and community based organizations and their parents will be highly encouraged to participate. They will be separated into two groups: experimental and control. This mixed-methods study will consist of four phases to assess the efficacy of early intervention programs for children with autism. Results: Independent sample t-test, repeated measures ANOVA, and descriptive statistics will be used to interpret the data found and establish any significant differences in the development of the two groups. Conclusion: Determining the effectiveness of early intervention programs for children with autism is a key factor in helping these children reach their full potential developmentally.

Complementary Therapies for Postpartum Mothers of Multiples
There are many systemic changes that happen to the body after giving birth. Special consideration should be given to recovery during the postpartum period. Common physical symptoms during postpartum are breast engorgement and nipple pain, vaginal bleeding, soreness in perineal area, cramping during uterine involution, increased sweating usually at night, constipation, and hair loss (Cleveland Clinic, 2024). A vulnerable population is women experiencing a multiple pregnancy, such as those carrying twins or triplets. These women are more likely to experience gestational diabetes, gestational hypertension, anemia and/or postpartum hemorrhage (University of Rochester Medical Center, 2024). Amidst this crucial time, advocating for patient preferences is a priority. There is a growing emergence of women who prefer a more holistic approach to the birthing process. Therefore, it is imperative that nurses are cognizant of natural techniques.https://scholar.dominican.edu/nursing-student-research-posters/1120/thumbnail.jp
Psychosocial Factors Affecting Quality of Life in Kidney Transplant Recipients
Background: Kidney transplantation is the best solution to save lives for those that have end-stage renal disease. However, psychosocial issues play a huge role in their quality of life after the procedure which can affect these individuals negatively. These issues recipients face include depression and anxiety, a lack of social support, and self management difficulties. Objective: This research consists of investigating psychosocial factors that affect kidney transplant recipients’ quality of life. Evidenced by research, focused assistance with ongoing support in patients is essential after receiving surgery and recovery. A literature review was conducted that consists of research on studies with psychosocial factors affecting their life post-transplant. This can lead to better long-term outcomes with post-surgery. Method: The proposed research involved a mixed-methods longitudinal approach, including surveys with interviews to investigate the gaps in the literature review. Existing studies show how ignoring psychosocial factors and how it negatively impacts kidney transplant recipients over a period of time emphasizes the need for continual evaluation to obtain better strategies for recovery and adaptability. Results: The data for this study provided similar themes in qualitative and quantitative data, which highlights the influence on quality of life from social support and mental health needed to improve patient outcomes post-surgery. Conclusion: The study emphasized the influence with social support and mental health in kidney transplant recipients’ quality of life. The necessity for continuous interventions and help in these areas is essential to improved patient outcomes and quality of life.https://scholar.dominican.edu/nursing-student-research-posters/1127/thumbnail.jp
Scabies Prevention in Correctional Facilities: A Path to Safer Inmate Populations
Scabies is a contagious skin condition caused by the Sarcoptes scabiei var. hominis mite, which burrows into the skin to lay eggs and feces, causing intense itching and a rash. These symptoms can take up to 4-6 weeks for a first time infection and it can occur as early as 1-4 days for a person who previously had scabies (National Park Service, 2023). Scabies is often transmitted through prolonged and direct skin to skin contact with an infected person, through sharing clothing, or due to overcrowded environments. This intense itching and rash can cause poor sleep, social ostracization, and affect employment if not addressed properly. Scabies infestations are frequently complicated by bacterial infection called impetigo as a result of the scratching which may further result in abscesses, sepsis, and other invasive infections such as Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes (WHO, 2024). Prisoners often suffer poor living conditions due to a lack of medical services, proper nutrition, and unsanitary conditions. Prisoners in jails are in constant physical contact with each other and their health can easily be affected if one or more inmates gets a contagious skin disease like scabies, which can spread into the general public when they are released or if staff members carry infections outside.https://scholar.dominican.edu/nursing-student-research-posters/1141/thumbnail.jp
Forgotten in Time: World War II Memories Left in the ‘40s
The impact of World War II on the world was profound, and San Francisco played an undeniable, yet understated role. The advantage of San Francisco terrain and its many ports helped the war effort incredibly, through operations including, but not limited to, shipbuilding, military activity (intelligence posts, naval installations, embarkation points, etc), United Nations conventions, and most importantly, the city stood as a symbol of freedom for soldiers embarking to defend their homeland and allies.https://scholar.dominican.edu/mapping-bay-area-memory-places/1000/thumbnail.jp
Navigating the Coast: The Migration of the San Francisco 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers are an infamous football team in the NFL with their 5 Super Bowl wins. The team draws their name from the 49ers, who originally flocked to San Francisco during the Gold Rush of 1848, allowing for a great mascot in Sough-dough Sam, who is dressed like the miners during that historical era of the Gold Rush. Although they are named the San Francisco 49ers, they are currently located at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. This has caused a lot of controversy for their loyal fans, who have had to travel farther and farther away from their home of San Francisco to watch their favorite team play football. Why is it that the 49ers have moved to a stadium that is so far away from their birthplace of San Francisco? Does their move to Santa Clara mean they have to change their name entirely, leaving behind their legacy and their fans? To answer this question, we\u27ll have to travel all the way to the southeast corner of Golden Gate Park to Kezar Stadium.https://scholar.dominican.edu/mapping-bay-area-memory-places/1011/thumbnail.jp
New Features of Laboratory-Generated EPFRs from 1,2-Dichlorobenzene (DCB) and 2‑Monochlorophenol (MCP)
The present research is primarily focused on investigating the characteristics of environmentally persistent free radicals (EPFRs) generated from commonly recognized aromatic precursors, namely, 1,2-dichlorobenzene (DCB) and 2- monochlorophenol (MCP), within controlled laboratory conditions at a temperature of 230 °C, termed as DCB230 and MCP230 EPFRs, respectively. An intriguing observation has emerged during the creation of EPFRs from MCP and DCB utilizing a catalyst 5% CuO/SiO2, which was prepared through various methods. A previously proposed mechanism, advanced by Dellinger and colleagues (a conventional model), postulated a positive correlation between the degree of hydroxylation on the catalyst’s surface (higher hydroxylated, HH and less hydroxylated, LH) and the anticipated EPFR yields. In the present study, this correlation was specifically confirmed for the DCB precursor. Particularly, it was observed that increasing the degree of hydroxylation at the catalyst’s surface resulted in a greater yield of EPFRs for DCB230. The unexpected finding was the indifferent behavior of MCP230 EPFRs to the surface morphology of the catalyst, i.e., no matter whether copper oxide nanoparticles are distributed densely, sparsely, or completely agglomerated. The yields of MCP230 EPFRs remained consistent regardless of the catalyst type or preparation protocol. Although current experimental results confirm the early model for the generation of DCB EPFRs (i.e., the higher the hydroxylation is, the higher the yield of EPFRs), it is of utmost importance to closely explore the heterogeneous alternative mechanism(s) responsible for generating MCP230 EPFRs, which may run parallel to the conventional model. In this study, detailed spectral analysis was conducted using the EPR technique to examine the nature of DCB230 EPFRs and the aging phenomenon of DCB230 EPFRs while they exist as surface-bound o-semiquinone radicals (o-SQ) on copper sites. Various aspects concerning bound radicals were explored, including the hydrogen-bonding tendencies of o-semiquinone (o-SQ) radicals, the potential reversibility of hydroxylation processes occurring on the catalyst’s surface, and the analysis of selected EPR spectra using EasySpin MATLAB. Furthermore, alternative routes for EPFR generation were thoroughly discussed and compared with the conventional model

Hablando Sobre Inmigración: How Members of the House of Representatives in 118th Congress Frame the Issue of Immigration
Historically, Immigration has played a critical role in forming the nation’s identity, economic prosperity, and promoting cultural diversity. Considering that the issue of Immigration has been in the news and is considered by many to be important and in need of policy solutions, little progress has been made on passing comprehensive immigration reform since the 113 th Congress in 2013. How members of Congress talk about Immigration is important because framing can influence public opinion, shaping perceptions of the issue and affecting policy decisions. Members may use their platform to communicate how they think about policy issues. Research has been done about Senators’ communication about the issue of immigration on their websites and have found that immigration is often framed as a security threat and the economic aspects related to immigration. This thesis asks how members of the House of Representatives in the 118th Congress frame the issue of immigration? Using content analysis this thesis has examined members’ websites, floor speeches, and press releases to evaluate how they frame the issue of Immigration. This thesis found that the strongest indicator of how a member of the House of Representatives in the 118th Congress will frame immigration was party affiliation. Hence, Democrats are more likely to frame immigration as a moral issue, while Republicans frame immigration as a national security issue. Immigration is an issue that affects everyone, and Congress is responsible for passing laws about immigration. Laws tend to have the best chance of getting passed when issues are salient, the agenda has been set, and people understand what a policy aims to achieve
