Enhancing cultural heritage digitalization and visitor engagement through lidar scanning and gamification
Cultural heritage assets are valuable, providing important information about humanity's past and conveying it to the future. Unfortunately, conventional documentation is insufficient to preservethem for the next generations. Furthermore, increasing visitor interaction with these assets and raising awareness has been one of the challenges in this field. In this paper, we will examine how mobile LiDAR (Laser Detection and Ranging) technology can be used to precisely scan and document historical sites and how it can be combined with gamification elements to provide visitors with better experiences. It is also important that the texture taken in mobile laser scanning can be used to better visualize 3D mesh models of the scanned objects, sothe fastest application that produces 3D models is selected. The study area is Syedra Ancient City in Alanya/Turkey, where the research and excavation process has continued since 2015 and the restoration projects started in 2023. Future work includes the creation of experiences to provide a basis for gamification and revitalizing the story of the heritage for the visitors through digital storytelling and AR(Augmented Reality). Preserving historical sites while providing visitors with a more in-depth, vivid and enjoyable experience are important facts for enhancing cultural heritage and passing it on to future generations.Scientific Research Projects (BAP) -- MDK-2023-4510
Anatomical and morphometric features of the profunda brachii artery
When the literature is examined, studies evaluating the profunda brachii artery (PBA) are limited as most studies only investigate the artery’s origin. In 44 upper extremities belonging to 24 human anatomical specimens, single and double PBAs were observed in 39 and five cases, respectively. In cases with a single PBA, the origin was the brachial artery (BA) in 35 cases and the posterior circumflex humeral artery in four cases. In cases with double PBAs, the artery’s origin was the BA. Morphometric measurements of single and double arteries originating from the first branch BA were evaluated separately and compared according to sex and side. Our study, in which the PBA was examined morphologically and morphometrically, contributes to the literature anatomically and radiologically in treating humerus fractures and lateral arm-flap applications by surgeons
Önder hemşirelerin hemşirelikte zaman yönetimine ilişkin bakış açıları: Nitel araştırma
Aim: To describe the experiences and opinions of nurses in leadership positions about time management and provide recommendations to avoid wasting time in the nursing field. Method: This is a qualitative descriptive study. It involved self-descriptions of open-ended questions of 32 nurses in leadership positions from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Data were interpreted through content analysis. Results: Data were organized into five themes: (1) Factors that facilitate time management in nursing, (2) Factors that hinder time management in nursing, (3) Impairments to care due to inappropriate use of time, (4) Differences in relation to other health professions, and (5) Measures for optimizing time management in nursing. Conclusion: Nursing shortages, work overload, intercurrences, disorganization, and distractions are barriers to managing time. Nurse participants feel undervalued, have low salaries, and need to have more than one job to maintain themselves, and all these factors are obstacles to the adequate allocation of time that threaten the quality of care.Çalışma, hemşirelik alanında yönetsel pozisyonlarda çalışan önder hemşirelerin zaman yönetimi hakkındaki deneyimlerini ve görüşlerini ortaya koymak ve hemşirelikte zaman kaybını önlemek için önerilerde bulunmak amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Yöntem: Çalışma, nitel araştırma yöntemiyle ve tanımlayıcı tasarımda gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışma, Rio de Janeiro, Brezilya’da, yönetsel pozisyonlarda çalışan 32 önder hemşirenin açık uçlu sorulara verdiği yanıtlara dayanmakta olup veriler, içerik analizi yöntemiyle değerlendirilmiştir. Bulgular: Veriler; (1) Hemşirelikte zaman yönetimini kolaylaştıran etmenler, (2) Hemşirelikte zaman yönetimini engelleyen etmenler, (3) Zamanın uygunsuz kullanımından dolayı bakımdaki aksamalar, (4) Diğer sağlık meslekleriyle ilişkili farklılıklar ve (5) Hemşirelikte zamanın en iyi şekilde yönetimi için alınması gereken önlemler olmak üzere beş tema altında değerlendirilmiştir. Sonuç: Hemşire eksikliği, artan iş yükü, beklenmedik olayların araya girmesi, düzensizlik ve dikkat dağıtıcı durumlar, zaman yönetimini engelleyen etmenler olarak belirtilmiştir. Katılımcıların kendilerini değersiz hissetmeleri, düşük maaş alıyor olmaları ve geçimlerini sağlamak için birden fazla iş yerinde çalışmak zorunda kalmaları gibi etkenler, zamanın etkili bir şekilde yönetilmesini tehdit ederek, bakım kalitesini olumsuz yönde etkilemektedir
Avrupa’daki akademisyenlerin genetik uygulamalar ve öjeni konusunda etik sınırları: Durum çalışması
The 20th century has been a period in which studies on genetics have intensified and important applications have been experi enced. In this study, it is aimed to reveal what academics think about the potential of the concept of “design babies”, which is a result of biotechnological applications, to cause eugenics. For this purpose, data were collected with the “scenario-based form” titled eugenics devel oped by the researcher. This questioning was carried out over the issue of changing the genetic characteristics of a baby before birth with the applications brought about/will be brought about by genetic engineer ing technologies. The research was carried out with 14 academicians working at Charles University in Czechia. Mixed content analysis was performed on the data obtained by applying the scenario form via the internet. As understood from the findings, the approaches of Czech aca demicians to the issue of gene editing revealed on the basis of the con cept of “designer babies” are ethically negative. It is understood that it is not found ethical by the participants because of reasons such as the concern that possible gene editing will not be equally accessible to all people, causing discrimination and commercial abuse and not being able to predict what kind of problems the gene interactions that may result from the interventions may cause in the future. As a result, it is understood that the idea of creating the perfect breed to create more beautiful, smarter and more qualified people is wrong, and therefore they think that eugenic goals such as creating a superior human race are dangerous.20. yüzyıl genetik üzerine çalışmaların yoğunlaştığı ve önemli uygulamaların yaşandığı bir dönem olmuştur. Bu çalışmada akademisyenlerin, biyoteknolojik uygulamaların bir getirisi olan “tasarım bebekler” kavramının öjeniye neden olma potansiyeli hakkında ne düşündüklerini ortaya koymak hedeflenmektedir. Bu amaçla veriler, araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen öjeni başlıklı “senaryo temelli form” ile toplanmıştır. Bu sorgulama ise genetik mühendisliği teknolojilerinin getirdiği/getireceği uygulamalarla bir bebeğin doğumdan önce genetik özelliklerinin değiştirilmesi üzerinden gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırma Çekya’da Charles Üniversitesinde görev yapan 14 akademisyen ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. İnternet yoluyla senaryo formunun uygulanması ile elde edilen veriler üzerinde karma içerik analizi gerçekleştirilmiştir. Akademisyenlerin, “designer babies” kavramı üzerinden gen düzenlemeleri konusuna olan yaklaşımları etik açıdan olumsuzdur. Yapılması muhtemel gen düzenlemelerinin tüm insanlar tarafından eşit bir şekilde erişilemeyeceği kaygısı başta olmak üzere, ayrımcılığa yol açma, ticari suistimale neden olma, yapılacak müdahalelerle oluşabilecek gen etkileşimlerinin gelecekte ne gibi sorunlara yol açabileceğinin tahmin editlememesi gibi nedenlerden dolayı katılımcılar tarafından etik bulunmadığı anlaşılmaktadır. Sonuç olarak akademisyenlere göre daha güzel daha zeki daha nitelikli insanların oluşturulmasına yönelik mükemmel ırka erişme fikrinin yanlış olduğu, dolayısıyla üstün insan ırkı oluşturmaya yönelik öjeni hedeflerinin tehlikeli olduğu görüşünde oldukları anlaşılmaktadır
Morphometric analysis of the Sella Turcica on cone-beam computed tomography images
Introduction: Sella turcica is an important anatomic formation that contains the pituitary gland and is in a close neighborhood with many vital structures. It is important to know the morphometry of the sella turcica, as it is a transition point during surgical interventions such as the endoscopic endonasal transsphenoidal approach to the region. The findings obtained are thought to be useful in the examination of sella turcica and surrounding structures and will contribute to the literature by knowing the morphometry of the region for the surgical method. Method: In this study, cone-beam computed tomography images of 400 individuals, 200 females and 200 males, aged between 18 and 65 years, who did not have craniofacial pathology, who applied to Gaziantep University, Faculty of Dentistry between 2015 and 2020 for any reason, were evaluated retrospectively. In the sagittal section, 8 parameters were examined, 6 of which were transverse. Results: The length () of the sella turcica in the sagittal plane is 10.19±1.77 mm, the diameter of the sella turcica is 11.6±1.69 mm, the anterior height of the sella turcica is 7.88±1.56 mm, the median height of the sella turcica 8.18±1.42 mm, posterior height of sella turcica 6.98±1.31 mm, width of sella turcica 11.10±1.6 mm. The distance between anterior clinoid processes in the transverse plane was 24.93±2.57 mm, and the distance between posterior clinoid processes was 14.92±2.46 mm. Conclusion: It was determined that there was an increase in many parameters with age, and length of the sella turcica and anterior clinoid processes were statistically significantly higher in males
Determination of sex using frontal sinus morphometry with CBCT
AIM or PURPOSE The purpose of this study is to evaluate the morphometry of the frontal sinuses and compare it with the nasal, maxillary, cranial and the mandible widths, as well as their relationship with age, sex, and side. MATERIALS and METHOD The randomly selected 208 patients aged from 20 to 85 years were analysed. The measurements of mesio-distal, antero-posterior, and supero-inferior dimension of frontal sinus, cranial width, nasal width, maxillary width, and mandibular width were examined using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Statistical analyses were performed using Kolmogorov–Smirnov, paired sample t test, Oneway ANOVA test, Student's t-test. P values 0.05). There was a statistically significant difference in terms of total anterioposterior measurement among age groups (p<0.05). CONCLUSION(S) This study revealed that the measurements of frontal sinuses and other cranial parametres can be useful in sex determination using CBCT
Assessing the usage of end-of-life tire pyrolysis oil as an alternativefuel in a diesel engine in the point of energy, exergy, exergoeconomic, exergoenviroeconomic, and sustainabilityparameters
The present study examines the utilization of fuel blends comprising waste tire pyrolysis oil (WTPO) at varying ratios (10%, 20%, 30%, and 40%) in a compression-ignition (CI) engine at different loads (25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%). This is with a view to elucidating the performance and emission characteristics of the blends in detail. The performance and emission data were subjected to detailed analysis. Energy, exergy, exergoeconomic, exorgoenviroeconomic, and sustainability analyses were conducted with the objective of comparing the fuel blends. Based on these analyses, the energy dissipation of the engine, exergy losses, cost of power from the engine shaft, and sustainability index (SI) were calculated for each fuel at all operating conditions. As the fraction of WTPO in the fuel blends increased, fuel consumption increased and energetic efficiency declined owing to the lower energy content of the alternative fuel additive. As the percentage of WTPO in the fuel blends increased gradually, the exergy losses increased, resulting in a decline in exergy efficiency. At the highest load, the exergetic efficiency of TP20 was found to be 5.65% higher than that of TP40. Given that the cost of traditional diesel fuel (D100) was 73.3% higher than WTPO, the cost of power from the engine shaft decreased as the WTPO ratio ascended in the blends. Consequently, the aforementioned parameter for TP10 was calculated to be 144.55 /GW was found for TP40. The greatest quantity of CO2 released into the environment was 11,512.4 kg CO2/month in TP40 at the highest load. Under the same conditions, it was calculated as 5,958.2 kg CO2/month for D100. In the context of an SI based on load, a reduction of 5.89% was observed in the case of conventional D100 in comparison with TP40 in the CI engine operating at full load. The findings of the present examination indicate that WTPO may be a viable alternative fuel for CI engines running on D100

Burhan Kaplan, sektördeki çırçır ve pamuk ticaretindeki birikimlerini ring iplik üretimi ile hayata geçirmiştir. İşletme, kurulduğu günden itibaren benimsediği kalite politikası sayesinde hızlı adımlarla büyüyen ve kapasitesini arttıran bir konuma gelmiştir. İşletme, 1997 yılında 1 üretim tesisi ile faaliyete başlamış ve bugün tesis sayısını 5'e çıkarmıştır. Bunlardan 4'ü Gaziantep Organize Sanayi Bölgesinde (ring iplikleri üretiliyor), l'i ise Niğde Organize Sanayi Bölgesinde (Open End) faaliyet göstermektedir. 105 Bin m² kapalı alana sahip olan BİSKA Tekstil'in tüm tesislerinde toplam 600 kişi çalışmaktadır
Adjusted estimate of the prevalence of hepatitis delta virus in 25 countries and territories
Background and aims: Hepatitis delta virus (HDV) is a satellite RNA virus that requires the hepatitis B virus (HBV) for assembly and propagation. Individuals infected with HDV progress to advanced liver disease faster than HBV mono-infected individuals. Recent studies have estimated the global prevalence of anti-HDV antibodies among the HBV-infected population to be 5-15%. This study aimed to better understand HDV prevalence at the population level in 25 countries/territories. Methods: We conducted a literature review for anti-HDV and HDV-RNA-positive prevalence in HBsAg positive individuals in 25 countries/territories. Virtual meetings were held with experts from each setting to discuss the findings and collect unpublished data. Data were weighted for patient segments and regional heterogeneity to estimate the prevalence in the HBV-infected population. The findings were then combined with The Polaris Observatory HBV data to estimate the anti-HDV & HDV-RNA prevalence in each country/territory at the population level. Results: After adjusting for geographical distribution, disease stage and special populations, the anti-HDV prevalence among the HBsAg+ population changed from the literature estimate in 19 countries. The highest anti-HDV prevalence was 60.1% in Mongolia. Once adjusted for the HBsAg+ population and HDV-RNA+, China had the highest absolute number of HDV-RNA+ cases. Conclusions: We found substantially lower HDV prevalence than previously reported, as prior meta-analyses primarily focused on studies conducted in groups/regions that have a higher probability of HBV infection: tertiary care centers, specific risk groups or geographical regions. There is large uncertainty in HDV prevalence. The implementation of reflex testing would improve estimates, while also allowing earlier linkage to care for HDV-RNA-positive individuals. The logistical and economic burden of reflex testing on the health system would be limited, as it would only screen HBsAg+ cases. Impact and implications: There is a great deal of uncertainty surrounding the prevalence of HDV among people living with HBV at the population level. This study aimed to better understand the burden in 25 countries and territories, to refine techniques that can be used in future analyses. We found a lower prevalence in the majority of places studied than had been previously reported. These data can help inform policy makers on the need to screen people living with HBV to find those coinfected with HDV and at high risk for progression, while also highlighting the pitfalls that other researchers have often fallen into
Influence of nurses’ empowerment on quality care: A comprehensive study of the literature
Background: The empowerment of nurses is a fundamental strategy for patient safety and consequently, for the success of health institutions. This review aimed to identify in the scientific literature the influence of nurses’ empowerment on the quality of care. Methods: An integrative review of literature, in which the PRISMA guidelines were followed, was completed. Articles were evaluated using the Joanna Briggs Institute (2020) Critical Appraisal Tools. The search for primary research articles was carried out in PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science databases. Data were analyzed using content analysis methods. Results: Twelve studies were identified and included in this review. Three themes emerged: (1) the relationship between nurses’ empowerment and quality of care; (2) opportunities and challenges of implementing empowerment in nursing; and (3) recommendations for the empowerment of nurses. Conclusion: Empowerment should be encouraged from college education and maintained in health institutions through continuing education and improvement of working conditions that allow nurses to provide efficient and effective care
