Banka hisse senetleri getirilerinin makroekonomik değişkenlerle ilişkisinin lojistik regresyon yönetimiyle incelenmesi
Gerek politika yapıcılar gerekse de yatırımcılar için makroekonomik değişkenlerin yatırım
araçları üzerindeki etkisini öngörmek oldukça önemlidir. Bu çalışmada, seçili
makroekonomik değişkenlerin BİST 100 ‘de işlem gören bankalara ait hisse senetleri
üzerindeki etkileri analiz edilmeye çalışılmıştır. İlk bölümde, hisse senedine ait temel
kavramlar sunulmuş; ikinci bölümde ise makroekonomik değişkenler ile hisse senedi
getirileri arasındaki ilişkilere değinilerek konuyla ilgili literatür çalışmalarına yer
verilmiştir. Üçüncü bölümde, lojistik regresyon analizinin teorik çerçevesi ele alınarak
analizde kullanılan model tanıtılmıştır. 10 adet bankaya ait hisse senedi getirileri bağımlı
değişken olarak ele alınırken, 8 adet makroekonomik gösterge (döviz kuru, para arzı,
enflasyon, mevduat faiz oranı, S&P 500 Endeksi, altın, sanayi üretim endeksi, ABD
gösterge faiz oranı) bağımsız değişken olarak modele dahil edilmiştir. 2006 Ocak-2017
Aralık dönemini kapsayan bu analizin sonucunda, S&P 500 Endeksi’nde meydana gelen
değişimlerin tüm banka hisse senedi getirileri üzerinde pozitif yönde etkili olduğu
sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Diğer önemli değişkenler ise, döviz kuru ve ABD faiz oranı olarak
belirlenmiştir.
Forecasting the affects of macroeconomic indicators on financial instruments is very
important for both policymakers and investors. In this study, the affects of selected
macroeconomic variables on equity share of banks operanding in BİST 100 Indeks was
tried to analyse. In the first chapter, it was supplied the basic concepts of equity share; in
second chapter thereby the relations between macroeconomic variables and equity share
returns was mentioned, it was given a place to the literature works. In third chapter, it is
viewed that both theoretical frame of logistic regression analysis and the model used in
analysis. While the equity share of 10 bank was implicated in to model as dependent
variable, 8 amount of macroeconomic indicator (exchange rate, money supply, inflation,
deposit interest rate, S&P 500 index, gold, industrial production index, USA benchmark
interest rate) was implicated in to a model as independent variable. As a result of this work
involving the period of 2006 January-2017 December, it was observed that changes taken
place in S&P 500 index have positive effect on all equity share returns. It was seen that
exchange rate and USA benchmark interest rate are the other important indicators on
equity share returns
An international survey on hypoglycemia among insulin-treated type I and type II diabetes patients: Turkey cohort of the non-interventional IO HAT study
Background: Limited real-world data are currently available on hypoglycemia in diabetes patients. The International Operations Hypoglycemia Assessment Tool (IO HAT) study was designed to estimate hypoglycemia in insulin-treated type I (T1DM) and type II (T2DM) diabetes mellitus patients from 9 countries. The data from Turkey cohort are presented here.
Methods: A non-interventional study to determine the hypoglycemia incidence, retrospectively and prospectively, in Turkish T1DM and T2DM patients using a 2-part self-assessment questionnaire.
Results: Overall, 2348 patients were enrolled in the Turkey cohort (T1DM = 306 patients, T2DM = 2042 patients). In T1DM patients, 96.8% patients reported hypoglycemic events (Incidence rate [IR]: 68.6 events per patient-year [ppy]), prospectively, while 74.0% patients reported hypoglycemic events (IR: 51.7 events ppy), retrospectively. In T2DM patients, 95.9% patients (IR: 28.3 events ppy) reported hypoglycemic events, prospectively, while 53.6% patients (IR: 23.0 events ppy) reported hypoglycemic events, retrospectively. Nearly all patients reported hypoglycemia during the prospective period.
Conclusions: This is a first patient-reported dataset on hypoglycemia in Turkish, insulin-treated diabetes patients. A high incidence of patient-reported hypoglycemia confirms that hypoglycemia remains under-estimated. Hypoglycemia increased healthcare utilization impacting patients' quality of life. Hypoglycemia remains a common side effect with insulin-treatment and strategies to optimize therapy and reduce hypoglycemia occurrence in diabetes patients are required

Effects of chronic flexed wrist posture on the elasticity and cross-sectional area of the median nerve at the carpal tunnel among chronic stroke patients
Aim: To investigate the effects of chronic flexed wrist posture following spasticity on the elasticity and cross-sectional area (CSA) of the median nerve at the carpal tunnel among chronic stroke patients. Material and method: This prospective study included 24 consecutive patients (mean age, 56.5 +/- 11.56 years) with unilateral wrist spasticity following a stroke in a chronic phase. The CSA of the median nerve was measured by ultrasound (US). The elasticity was measured by Virtual Touch tissue imaging quantification (VTIQ; Siemens, Erlangen, Germany). SWV and CSA of the median nerves of the affected and unaffected sides for each patient were compared. The correlations between duration of time since the stroke, SWV and CSA of the median nerve were assessed. The interobserver agreement was assessed. Results: The CSA of the median nerve at the affected side was significantly lower than that of the unaffected side (p = 0.03). The SWV of the median nerve at the affected side was significantly higher than that on the unaffected side (p = 0.05). Conclusions: These results suggest that chronic flexed wrist posture may cause atrophy of the median nerve due to chronic compression after stroke and increase in the stiffness of the median nerve
Endovascular Treatment of a Patient with Moyamoya Disease and Seckel Syndrome: A Case Report
Seckel syndrome and Moyamoya diseases are different entities that rarely associated with each other. Several cases presenting with both these diseases were reported. Intracerebral artery aneurysms and collateral vessels can be seen with Moyamoya. They are commonly treated with medical treatment. We present a 12-years old patient with both Seckel syndrome and Moyamoya disease presented with middle cerebral artery aneurysm which was treated with endovascular modalities
RmSAT-CFAR: Fast and accurate target detection in radar images
As the first step of automatic image interpretation systems, automatic detection of the targets should be accurate and fast. Constant False Alarm Rate (CFAR) is the most popular target detection framework for Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images. For CFAR, modeling of the clutter is crucial since the decision threshold is calculated based on this model. We have developed a new target detection approach in which clutter is modeled using a Rayleigh mixture model that fits well to a variety of high-resolution SAR imagery. For computational efficiency, we use summed area tables (SAT) for computing background statistics. The resulting approach, called RmSAT-CFAR, is a promising general-purpose SAR target detection tool. This paper describes the open-source software for RmSAT-CFAR. Details of RmSAT-CFAR is published in the study named Fast Target Detection in Radar Images using Rayleigh Mixtures and Summed Area Tables. In addition to Rayleigh mixture and SATs, the software also uses tiling and parallelization to obtain faster and scalable results. This software repository also contains open source implementations for following algorithms: (a) Cell Averaging CFAR (CA-CFAR), (b) Automatic Censored CFAR (AC-CFAR), and (c) Adaptive and Fast CFAR (AAF-CFAR). Association Between Mitral Valve Prolapse, Migraine, and White Matter Hyperintensities on Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Objective: Migraine is linked with an elevation in vascular risk factors, ischemic stroke, and a variety of constitutional brain lesions. However, the pathogenesis of this relationship is still inexplicit. The link between cardiac diseases and comorbid migraine-ischemic stroke might be a vascular disease involving both heart and brain. In this study, an association between mitral valve prolapse (MVP), migraine, and the presence of brain white matter hyperintensities (WMHs) were evaluated among adult subjects with migraine headache devoid of any traditional vascular risk factors.
Materials and Methods: Four hundred subjects (200 subjects with migraine headache, 200 healthy controls; age range 18-50 years) were incorporated in the retrospective study. Existence of a headache compatible with migraine was diagnosed according to the International Headache Society-2 criteria. The participants were devoid of any known comorbid diseases, vascular risk factors or inflammatory diseases. All patients, both those with migraine and controls were screened with echocardiography to assess for MVP and with brain magnetic resonance imaging co evaluate the presence of any WMHs.
Results: The prevalence of MVP was found to be higher in the migraine group (p<0.011). The odds ratio (OR) for the presence of MVP in patients with migraine compared with controls was 2.44 [95% confidence interval (CI): 1.25-4.74; p=0.0086]. The OR for the presence of WMHs in patients with migraine compared with controls was 5.88 (95% CI: 3.42-10.10; p<0.0001). After modifying for confounding factors, multiple linear regression analyses revealed that migraine was independently and positively associated with MVP (p=0.044), tricuspid regurgitation (p=0.003), and WMHs (p<0.001), and mitral regurgitation and migraine was independently and positively connected with WMHs (p<0.005 and p<0.001, respectively).
Conclusion: MVP is found CO be independently associated with migraine when compared with controls. Therefore, we suggest that MVP might have an association with migraine. Nevertheless, we could not demonstrate any correlation between MVP and WMHs. Hence, we suggest that MVP might nor be involved in the evolution of WMHs in migrain
Approach to cardiovascular disease in women
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) in women is still not completely understood by either patients or physicians. It is perceived as a health problem that becomes manifest only after menopause; however, it is the most frequent cause of mortality in women and is often seen at an earlier age in the presence of risk factors. Moreover, the symptoms, course, and prognosis are quite different from those seen in men, and both physicians and patients remain inadequately aware of the character of the disease. In the approach to female patients, some risk factors inherent to women should be considered in addition to the classic factors. In this review article, aspects of CVD that are different in women, etiological factors, risk factors specific to women, and particular points to be taken into consideration in the treatment and diagnosis are illustrated in the form of questions and responses from experts
Management of tracheal agenesis with esophageal intubation can save lives: A reminder for anaesthesiologist and neonatologist
Introduction: Tracheal agenesis (TA) is a rare congenital anomaly presenting at birth with respiratory distress and di cult airway management. Polyhydramnios and premature labor are often pathologies associated with these pregnancies, which makes patient management more di cult. TA is often associated with other organ system anomalies (such as cardiovascular, renal and limb anomalies). Hereby, we report a case of tracheal agenesis who is presenting to our pediatric surgery and anesthesiology clinics. Case Presentation: An 30 weeks' premature infant was transferred to our neonatal intensive care unit, with the diagnosis of tracheal agenesis. He had failed attempts at intubations because of failing to visualize the vocal cords. It was learned that immediately, his respiratory tract was secured via cervical oesophagostomy using long tracheostomy cannula and the infant was subsequently stabilized by gently ventilated. The diagnosis was confirmed on CT scan. It was performed distal oesophageal banding at the upper gastroesophageal junction with gastrostomy. On postoperative day 12 in intensive care unit, the baby further got complicated with a developing cyanosis and circulatory insu ciency. Cardiorespiratory arrest was developed and the infant died after 40 minutes after resuscitation. Conclusions: Successful approach at tracheal agenesis depends on, either prenatal diagnosis or recognition of this situation immediately after birth. In recent years, long time survival has been reported in tracheal agenesis through various surgical approaches. Therefore, it should be remembered that early esophageal ventilation is a life-saving alternative. © 2018, Journal of Comprehensive Pediatrics
Eagle Syndrome Presenting with Neurological Symptoms
AIM: Eagle syndrome is a rare entity that causes recurrent throat pain, neck pain, dysphagia, or facial pain due to an elongated styloid process or calcified stylohyoid ligament. Clinical findings related to lower cranial nerve compression have also been reported. In some cases, it is reported that carotid artery compression or dissection can be seen due to elongated styloid process and this is called carotid artery syndrome. Carotid artery compression causes flow reduction and carotidynia or neurological symptoms can be seen. Dural sinuses and the jugular vein can be compressed. Eagle syndrome with neurological symptoms has been rarely reported.
MATERIAL and METHODS: The data of 5 patients (aged between 22 and 68 years), who presented to the hospital with various neurological symptoms, were retrospectively reviewed. Each patient underwent computed tomography (CT) that revealed a long styloid process.
RESULTS: An elongated styloid process caused neurological symptoms. Two patients had venous compression by the styloid process and the other patients had transient ischemic attacks due to internal carotid artery compression by the styloid process. Only one patient underwent surgical removal. All patients' outcomes were good after treatment and no symptoms remained.
CONCLUSION: Eagle syndrome may be presented with neurological symptoms. It should be kept in mind in the differential diagnosis of patients who have neurological symptoms without any objective etiological factors. To the best of our knowledge, Eagle syndrome with arterial and venous compression due to elongated styloid process has not been previously presented in the literature
