Deconstructing Gender Stereotypes: Mythos, Logos, and Nomos
This chapter critically explores gender stereotypes through the lenses of
law, culture, intersectionality, and language. It highlights the pervasive influence
of stereotypes in shaping societal norms, legal practices, and individual identities,
drawing on theoretical and empirical insights to expose the mechanisms of bias and
inequality. The analysis situates gender stereotypes within the frameworks of mythos,
logos, and nomos, illustrating their entrenchment in cultural narratives, normative
systems, and language. It underscores the cognitive dimensions of stereotyping,
likening the process to prototypical categorization, while addressing its socio-cultural
implications. The chapter emphasizes the transformative potential of interdisci-
plinary approaches, advocating for reforms across legal, cultural, and educational
spheres to dismantle entrenched stereotypes and promote equity
Targeting Factor XI for Safer Anticoagulation: Emerging Data and Future Directions
: Despite major advances with direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs), the clinical challenge of minimizing bleeding without losing efficacy remains unresolved. Factor XI (FXI) plays a pivotal role in thrombosis with limited contribution to hemostasis, making it an attractive target for novel anticoagulant therapy. Inhibition of FXI or its active form, FXIa, may therefore achieve effective antithrombotic protection while reducing the risk of bleeding. This review summarizes the biological rationale for targeting FXI, key pharmacological features of different inhibitor classes, and the main results from phase I-II trials of antisense oligonucleotides, monoclonal antibodies, and small-molecule FXIa inhibitors. It also discusses the ongoing phase III programs evaluating these agents across clinical settings, including atrial fibrillation, venous thromboembolism, and secondary prevention after acute coronary syndromes. Early phase studies have demonstrated robust and reproducible benefits in preventing venous thromboembolism after major orthopedic surgery, whereas efficacy in atrial fibrillation and secondary stroke prevention has been more variable. Key uncertainties persist regarding the most suitable indications, patient selection criteria, and how FXI inhibitors should be positioned alongside existing DOACs, particularly in high-bleeding-risk groups unsuitable for oral therapy, such as those with severe kidney failure, on dialysis, or facing cancer-related thrombosis
Operatività dell’art. 62, n. 6, c.p. e risarcimento effettuato dall’assicurazione del terzo: tra oggettività della riparazione e volontà dell’imputato. Nota a Cass., Sez. IV Pen., 18 novembre 2025, ud. 16 settembre 2025, n. 37616
giurisprudenziale
Isospin dependence of the nuclear temperature in the reactions 78Kr+40Ca and 86Kr+48Ca at 10 AMeV
The isospin dependence of temperatures is investigated in the reactions 78Kr+40Ca and 86Kr+48Ca at 10 AMeV. These reactions were studied in the context of the ISODEC experiment, performed at INFN-Laboratori Nazionali del Sud in Catania, by using the 4π multidetector CHIMERA. The results of the data analysis suggest that the temperature depends on the N/Z ratio. Different thermometric methods,as well as the slope and fluctuations thermometer with the alpha particles as probe and the double isotope yields ratio thermometer are used to extract the temperature of compound nucleus. Higher values of the temperature were observed for the neutron rich system compared to neutron poor one. This trend is confirmed by the comparison with the GEMINI++ statistical model
Ethnographies of Urban Heritage. HeritagePolitics, Memories, Conflict
Drawing on historical and contemporary ethnographic research, this edited collection addresses tangible and intangible forms of urban heritage, their impact on urban policies, and their consequences for urban life, both at individual and social levels. The chapters look at culturally diverse concepts of heritage in their social and historical context, bringing out the potential conflict that cultural memories and ideological approaches may generate and the related processes of social and political legitimation. The book offers different perspectives on how culturally driven urban policies interlink with power dynamics. It will contribute to understanding how memory practices may reflect changing historical narratives, political and ideological projects, and the (re)definition of social identities. This book is of special interest to scholars and students of anthropology, sociology, urban history, ethnographic research, material culture, social and political sciences, and archaeology

Improving Water Use Strategies in Greenhouse Tomato with Superabsorbent Polymers: Effects on Fruit Yield Under Deficit Irrigation
Water scarcity is increasingly challenging greenhouse tomato production, particularly in
Mediterranean and semi-arid regions where irrigation water availability is becoming progressively
limited. This study evaluated whether a superabsorbent polymer (SAP) can
support water-saving irrigation in tomato grown in coconut fibre. Plants were cultivated in
pots under four irrigation amounts (100, 75, 50, and 25% of crop water requirement—WC)
combined with two SAP levels (0 and 2 g L−1). Irrigation was managed by a lysimetric
control system. Reducing irrigation decreased total fruit yield (averaged across SAP treatments)
from 100% WC (1212 g plant−1) to 50–25% WC (914 and 624 g plant−1, respectively),
while non-marketable fruit number was unchanged (15.4 fruit plant−1, on average). SAP
increased total yield, averaged across irrigation treatments (from 925 to 1022 g plant−1),
and marketable fruit number (from 26.3 to 32.3 fruit plant−1), without affecting unitary
fruit weight (20.4 g fruit−1, on average). SAP also increased net photosynthesis (from 16.0
to 17.4 μmol CO2 m−2 s−1), while stomatal conductance (0.14–0.15 mol H2O m−2 s−1) and
WUE (4.0 μmol CO2 mmol−1 H2O) were not affected by SAP. Total soluble solids increased
under severe deficit (7.8 ◦Brix at 25% WC) and were enhanced by SAP (from 6.9 to 7.6 ◦Brix),
while colour parameters were mainly driven by irrigation. Overall, the irrigation amount
was the primary driver of performance. Moderate deficit irrigation (75% WC) maintained a
marketable fruit number and total fruit weight comparable to full irrigation (100% WC).
SAP amendment acted as a complementary tool to improve marketable production and net
photosynthesis across irrigation levels, providing an additive benefit to crop productivity
Is there a correlation between A, B, and O blood group system and dental anxiety in pediatric dental patients? An observational study
BACKGROUND: Anxiety and fear are significant challenges in pediatric dentistry, often leading to avoidance of dental treatment. Some studies suggest a potential link between the dopamine beta-hydroxylase gene and the ABO gene. As ABO blood group type is determined genetically, it could serve as a bioindicator for assessing the impact of genetics on personality traits. The association between blood types and personality characteristics has long been debated. METHODS: Eighty eligible children, meeting the inclusion criteria, were enrolled in the study. Blood group data were obtained from parents/guardians. Dental anxiety assessment was done using the RMS-Picture scale and pulse oximeter. RESULTS: The collected data were analyzed statistically. CONCLUSIONS: The study found no correlation between dental anxiety and ABO blood grouping
Coupled CFD-Wind Tunnel Assessment of a NACA 0018 Aluminum Wing for Integration in an AKF-Driven Virtual Sensing Framework
The aerospace industry increasingly relies on digital twins to estimate unmeasured quantities through Virtual Sensing techniques. In this context, this work presents the experimental validation of a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model of an aluminum wing with a NACA 0018 profile. Wind tunnel measurements were collected at various flow conditions and compared against CFD simulations performed in Simcenter STAR-CCM+. The strong agreement, quantified through pressure distribution comparisons and Normalized Root Mean Square Error (NRMSE), confirms the reliability of the numerical model. Crucially, the validated CFD setup provides the basis for future implementation of Virtual Sensing schemes based on the Augmented Kalman Filter (AKF), enabling the estimation of aerodynamic pressure loads using limited sensor data. This validation step is thus essential to ensure the predictive quality of the digital twin in such Virtual Sensing frameworks for structural monitoring and control
