No full text[Departement_IRSTEA]GMAThe recent appearance in several water streams in the south of France of species of the Gomphoneis genus, which were up to then considered as endemic to large American lakes, raises the problem of the introduction of more or less desirable species in continental environments. The distribution, morphological and ecological characteristics are studied. The proliferation of these taxons are often observed as bioindicators of organic pollution, but in relatively oxygenated environments.L'apparition récente dans plusieurs cours d'eau du midi de la France, d'espèces du genre gomphoneis considérées jusqu'alors comme endémiques des grands lacs américains, pose le problème de l'introduction d'espèces plus ou moins indésirables dans les milieux continentaux. La distribution, les caractéristiques morphologiques et écologiques sont examinées. La prolifération de ces taxons apparaît souvent parmi les bioindicateurs de pollution organique mais en milieu relativement oxygéné
