    No full text

    No full text
Sahidic Coptic Course and Applications to New Testament Textual Criticism Volume 1 (in preparation): Sahidic Coptic Course and Applications to New Testament Textual Criticism Volume 1 (in preparation)

    No full text
This work, titled Sahidic Coptic Course and Applications to New Testament Textual Criticism, is a comprehensive introduction to the study of Sahidic Coptic, the dialect of Coptic used in the majority of surviving early Christian texts from Egypt. Volume 1 focuses on the canonical Gospels, applying the study of Sahidic Coptic to the field of New Testament textual criticism. It explores how Sahidic manuscripts can shed light on the transmission and interpretation of the Gospels, offering insight into variations in early Christian texts. Through linguistic analysis and comparison with Greek originals, the course aims to provide students with the tools to understand how Coptic translations contribute to biblical scholarship and the history of Christian texts.Volume 2, which covers the apocryphal writings, extends this application to non-canonical texts, such as the Gospel of Thomas and other writings found in collections like the Nag Hammadi Library. This makes the series a valuable resource for scholars interested in both canonical and apocryphal Christian literature

The Use of History in American Military Doctrine: The Case of the Large-Scale Combat Operations Series

    No full text
International audienceAbstract American military forces have been working on a major doctrinal change since the middle of the last decade to move away from counterinsurgency and toward large-scale conventional warfare. The introduction of the concept of Multi-Dimensional Operations ( MDO ) to fight peer competitors has been accompanied by extensive historical studies of previous conventional campaigns. This article looks at the lessons learned from one of the main recent collections of historical cases, the Army’s Large-Scale Combat Operations ( LSCO ) Series. The book series contains a large number of cases of major conventional war from the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, and demonstrates a clear break with doctrine and historical interpretation developed in Iraq and in Afghanistan. Two sets of historical cases from the LSCO series were chosen for this study, the analyses of the October 1973 War and of the Soviet experience in World War II . These were also two of the main cases that were used in the 1970s and 1980s to help develop AirLand Battle doctrine after Vietnam. The article examines the lessons learned from both of the cases in the LSCO Series and compares those to earlier lessons learned about the same cases in the 1970s and 1980s. In this way, it also finds that the U.S. Army believes that AirLand Battle doctrine continues to be relevant today from a historical standpoint of lessons learned

Adipokines and Myokines as Markers of Malnutrition and Sarcopenia in Patients Receiving Kidney Replacement Therapy: An Observational, Cross-Sectional Study

    No full text
International audienceChronic kidney disease (CKD) is linked to an elevated risk of malnutrition and sarcopenia, contributing to the intricate network of CKD-related metabolic disorders. Adipokines and myokines are markers and effectors of sarcopenia and nutritional status. The aim of this study was to assess whether the adipokine–myokine signature in patients on kidney replacement therapy could help identify malnutrition and sarcopenia. The study involved three groups: 84 hemodialysis (HD) patients, 44 peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients, and 52 kidney transplant recipients (KTR). Mean age was 56.1 ± 16.3 years. Malnutrition was defined using the 7-Point Subjective Global Assessment (SGA) and the Malnutrition-Inflammation Score (MIS). Sarcopenia was diagnosed based on reduced handgrip strength (HGS) and diminished muscle mass. Concentrations of adipokines and myokines were determined using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). 32.8% of all study participants were identified as malnourished and 20.6% had sarcopenia. For malnutrition, assessed using the 7-Point SGA, in ROC analysis albumin (area under the curve (AUC) 0.67 was the best single biomarker identified. In dialysis patients, myostatin (AUC 0.79) and IL-6 (AUC 0.67) had a high discrimination value for sarcopenia, and we were able to develop a prediction model for sarcopenia, including age, albumin, adiponectin, and myostatin levels, with an AUC of 0.806 (95% CI: 0.721–0.891). Adipokines and myokines appear to be useful laboratory markers for assessing malnutrition and sarcopenia. The formula we propose could contribute to a better understanding of sarcopenia and potentially lead to more effective interventions and management strategies for dialysis patients

Introduction. Digital Methods and Fields: Feminist Perspectives

    No full text
This issue examines how digital tools, methods, fields, and research objects transform the methodologies of the humanities and social sciences while challenging the gender system. From a feminist perspective, it argues that science and technology are not “pure,” that digital calculations are not neutral, and that massively collected data do not guarantee objectivity. Operating on the principle that knowledge production is situated, this issue questions the gender biases that appear in the production and analysis of digital data and explores how these biases can be leveraged to develop more reflexive and inclusive research. By demonstrating how digital technology disrupts gender boundaries, this issue addresses the challenges that quantitative data pose to gender. It investigates how feminist research can enhance digital methods, promote ethical approaches, and critique the concentration of power within socio-digital platforms
