The Patrologia Graeca Corpus: OCR, Annotation, and Open Release of Noisy Nineteenth-Century Polytonic Greek Editions
International audienceWe present the Patrologia Graeca Corpus, the first large-scale open OCR and linguistic resource for nineteenthcentury editions of Ancient Greek. The collection covers the remaining undigitized volumes of the Patrologia Graeca (PG), printed in complex bilingual (Greek-Latin) layouts and characterized by highly degraded polytonic Greek typography. Through a dedicated pipeline combining YOLO-based layout detection and CRNN-based text recognition, we achieve a character error rate (CER) of 1.05% and a word error rate (WER) of 4.69%, largely outperforming existing OCR systems for polytonic Greek. The resulting corpus contains around six million lemmatized and part-of-speech tagged tokens, aligned with full OCR and layout annotations. Beyond its philological value, this corpus establishes a new benchmark for OCR on noisy polytonic Greek and provides training material for future models, including LLMs
Incorporation of Ruthenium Polypyridyl Complexes Into DNA Oligonucleotides by Copper‐Free Click Chemistry
International audienceAlternative methods for the preparation of naïve libraries for SELEX experiments are in dire need, particularly when hydrophobic, bulky, and complex modification patterns are considered. Here, we explore the first steps toward the preparation of libraries equipped with ruthenium polypyridyl complexes using strain‐promoted azide‐alkyne cycloaddition (SPAAC) reactions. We demonstrated that dsDNA products can be efficiently equipped with dibenzocyclooctyne (DIBAC) moieties using a suitable modified nucleoside triphosphate and primer extension (PEX) reactions or PCR. The resulting dsDNA products can then be further modified using SPAAC and ruthenium polypyridyl complexes equipped with azide moieties, permitting the installation of >10 complexes. Finally, dsDNA can be efficiently converted into the corresponding modified ssDNA using magnetoseparation. These results offer the possibility of producing longer oligonucleotides equipped with complex modification patterns and open the way to SPAAC‐click‐SELEX methodologies
Comparison of M10 and M20 Meteomodem radiosondes relative humidity measurements with ECMWF ERA5 above France: focus on the upper troposphere
International audienceAccurate knowledge of the relative humidity (RH) in the troposphere is important for predicting cloud formation, particularly in the upper troposphere where contrails can form and contribute to global warming. However, it is difficult to predict their formation due to the lack of precise RH measurements at these altitudes. This paper compares RH data from Meteomodem radiosondes (M10 and M20) acquired over a 5-years period (2020-2024) at the Trappes and Nîmes meteorological stations in France with ECMWF ERA5 analyses, with a focus on the upper troposphere. For Trappes, two datasets exist: one processed operationally by Météo France (MF) and a second processed using the GRUAN standard. Whatever the processing is, Meteomodem radiosondes RH values are on average higher than ERA5 ones, by about 2 % at 800 hPa up to 10 % at 200 hPa. The operational MF processing generally gives higher RH than the GRUAN processing. The median difference between both processing methods is lower than 2.2 % for pressures higher than 300 hPa and is maximum for lower pressures and nighttime measurements, the GRUAN processing showing more consistency between daytime and nighttime measurements. The evolution of MF processing over time

Synthesis, Characterization, and Evaluation of Chelators for Radium-223
International audienceThe stable coordination of radium-223 ( 223 Ra) for targeted alpha therapy remains elusive. Herein, seventeen chelators were investigated for the complexation of 223 Ra, of which thirteen have previously not been reported. MacroPa was used as a reference and control for the studies, and by a process of systematic modifications to this chelator and a range of other chelator scaffolds, a library of structurally related compounds was obtained, each differing from another by a single functional group or change in the backbone. The radiolabelling of each chelator was assessed by radio-thin layer chromatography to determine radiochemical conversion. Fourteen of the synthesized chelators provided quantitative coordination of 223 Ra at room temperature and neutral pH (or close to). The stability of these complexes in human serum at 37 °C was analyzed using radio-size exclusion chromatography where results corresponding to [ 223 Ra][Ra(MacroMePhos)] were encouraging. However, radio-thin layer chromatography analysis of the 'small molecule' fractions revealed the presence of free 223 Ra, indicating instability within 1 h. In fact, even [ 223 Ra][Ra(MacroPa)] dissociated within 1 h, albeit at higher dilutions. Overall, this work shows that the search for a suitable 223 Rachelator for applications in radiopharmaceuticals still requires significant attention and effort.</div
Intravenous immunoglobulin remodels innate immune cell communication and induces differential autophagy pathways in Kawasaki disease
International audienceIntroduction Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG), a therapeutic preparation of pooled normal IgG is extensively used as a first-line immunotherapy for many autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, including Kawasaki disease (KD). IVIG provides therapeutic benefits through several non-exclusive mechanisms. Our recent data demonstrate that IVIG induces autophagy in inflammatory innate immune cells, a finding further supported by observations in IVIG-treated myopathy patients. However, whether IVIG selectively activates specific autophagy pathways across distinct innate immune cell subsets remains unclear. Methods Single-cell RNA sequencing data from peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) of healthy controls, acute untreated KD patients, and IVIG-treated KD patients were analysed. Differential gene expression, cell–cell communication, functional pathway enrichment of autophagy-related pathways, and pseudotime trajectory analyses were performed. Mechanistic studies were conducted in vitro using PBMC and monocytes from healthy donors treated with different IVIG preparations, Fc fragments, or inhibitors, followed by immunoblotting for LC3-II. Results KD was characterized by expansion of inflammatory monocytes and low-density neutrophils with reduced NK and γδ T cells. IVIG therapy reshaped innate immune composition and partially restored coordinated immune networks. IVIG upregulated core macroautophagy genes across innate immune subsets, particularly ATG7 and UVRAG in monocytes. It also induced non-canonical LC3-associated phagocytosis and multiple selective autophagy pathways in a cell-type-specific manner. Pseudotime analysis revealed normalization of monocyte trajectories following treatment. IVIG-induced autophagy occurred independently of Fc fragments and C-type lectin receptors. Discussion IVIG remodels innate immune communication and activates differential autophagy programs, which may contribute to its therapeutic effects in KD and other autoimmune and inflammatory pathologies
Structure of Riemann solvers on networks (preliminary version 3)
International audienceIn this paper we consider scalar Riemann solvers on networks, associated to scalar conservation laws. A junction is a particular network which is a finite set of half lines glued together at the origin. Riemann solvers solve uniquely the Riemann problem on the junction. We also assume that Riemann solutions are stable by passage to the limit. In part I, we only address fundamental questions concerning Riemann problems on junctions. We show a characterization of Riemann solvers either by their set of stationary solutions (the germ), or equivalently by their junction Godunov flux. Moreover, we show that the gluing of two junctions with Riemann solvers is well defined and leads to a new junction with a new Riemann solver. We also show that given a quasi Godunov flux (which does not satisfies all the properties of Godunov fluxes), there exists a nonlinear projection which allows to associate a uniqueGodunov flux. This projection is called relaxation. Our theory encompasses in particular Kru˘zkov germs, (quasi) Hamilton-Jacobi germs, monotone germs, conservative and non-conservative germs. In part II, we focus on the special case of importance in applications, where the fluxes of the network are bell-shaped. In this case, we show that the junction Godunov flux has a polar decomposition into a preflux composed with an explicit capacity. Hence all the information is encoded in the preflux. We then find explicit formulas inorder to glue prefluxes, or to relax quasi-prefluxes. We also give some explicit characterizations of some conservative prefluxes where flux limiters appear naturally. In part III, we give an existence and uniqueness theory for conservation laws on networks in the special case where Riemann solvers are associated to Kru˘zkov germs
Evaluation of parasitic and tissue-specific accumulation of emerging contaminants in wild European chubs (Squalius cephalus) across the Seine River system
International audienceAquatic ecosystems are increasingly affected by chemical contamination from anthropogenic activities, yet the fate of pesticides and pharmaceutical residues within organisms remains poorly understood. Parasites can also significantly influence pollutant dynamics, through a high capacity for bioaccumulation. In this study, we quantified 60 emerging contaminants, including pesticides, antibiotics, and other pharmaceuticals, in surface waters, fish tissues (gills, liver, muscle), and intestinal acanthocephalan parasites of wild European chubs (Squalius cephalus) across multiple rivers of the Seine river system, France. Forty compounds were detected in water samples, whereas 28, 18, 17, and 8 were detected in parasites, gills, liver, and muscle tissues, respectively. Six compounds, mainly pharmaceuticals and one pesticide (diflufenican), were detected in more than 50 % of samples in at least one biological compartment. Pollutant detection in water was associated with increased occurrence and levels in fish tissue, although tissue levels did not directly correlate with waterborne levels. Gills exhibited the highest pollutant diversity and levels among tissues. Habitat type influenced the number of pollutants detected in water, with higher values in agricultural areas, but did not directly affect tissue concentrations. Acanthocephalans accumulated several pharmaceuticals, especially paracetamol and fluoxetine, at high levels, supporting their bioaccumulation potential. Moreover, parasite biomass influenced host contamination in a tissue-specific manner, decreasing pollutant levels in gills but increasing them in muscle. Fish size positively, and body condition negatively, correlated with pollutant load. These findings highlight the importance of considering both host physiology and parasitism when assessing contaminant fate in freshwater ecosystems
