The role of investor behavior in emerging stock markets: Evidence from Vietnam

    No full text
International audienceExloring the role of different types of investors on stock market is crticial since different types of investors react and behave differently when making investment decision. The role of investor behavior is a very important issue in an immature stock market like Vietnam stock market because the market is characterized by a large number of individual investors and low reporting standard. Institutional and foreign investors however play an influential role due to their large exposure and strong investment expertise. Clearly, examining the role of investor behavior and its impact on the stock market in Vietnam is an important topic in finance. A significant body of empirical research has shown that investor behavior is an essential factor to explain stock price that the classical financial theory cannot explain. This research examines the role of investor behavior in stock market by examining the relationship between investor behavior and stock return using the Vietnamese stock exchange data. We create a sentiment index using the principal components analysis (PCA). Consistent with the sentiment and stock return literature, the research shows a negative contemporaneous relationship between investor sentiment and market return

GCC Countries Strategic Options in a Global Transition to Zero-Net Emissions

    No full text
International audienceUsing a multi-level perspective approach combined with top-down macroeconomic models, we analyze the situation of the GCC countries in the perspective of a global transition to zero-net emissions before the end of the century. Based on these analyses, we propose strategic and political options for these oil and gas exporting countries. We show that it would be unwise for GCC member states to adopt an obstructionist strategy in international climate negotiations. On the contrary, these countries could be proactive in developing international emissions trading market and exploiting negative emissions obtained from CO2 direct reduction technologies, in particular direct air capture with CO2 sequestration, and thus contribute to a global net-zero-emissions regime in which clean fossil fuels are still used

Alexa is the New Influencer: An Empirical Studybased on a Relational View

    No full text
International audienceThis paper explores the potential of voice assistants (VAs) as influencers and their ability to replace or complement human influencers. VAs are increasingly popular tools for marketing and advertising, providing access to a wide range of information services. VA recommendations have been found to be more effective than consumer reviews in changing consumer behavior when perceived as credible and useful. Nevertheless, existing research has not explored the full potential of VAs in influencing consumer behavior beyond these factors. This paper identifies relevant behavioral factors that affect consumers' decisions to follow VA recommendations. An empirical study of 510 participants revealed that parasocial relationships, peer influence, self-image congruence, and interpersonal attraction positively affect consumers' decisions to follow product purchase recommendations by VAs. The findings extend our understanding of consumers' behavior towards VAs and provide theoretical and practical implications for marketing and information systems research

Multi-echelon Urban Distribution Networks: Models, Challenges and Perspectives

    No full text
International audience"This chapter presents two-echelon location and routing models and discusses their characteristics and solvability. It describes new paradigms in urban logistics and their challenges related to governance, green logistics, smart cities, and hyperconnected logistics. Designing distribution networks has critical impacts for city logistics stakeholders on cost, revenue and service levels to the city citizens. Using mathematical models to design the optimal distribution network is particularly constrained by the characterization of the operating environment and multiple factors such as demand, product portfolio, inventory levels, response time and returnability. The chapter focuses on the routing approaches dedicated to cargo bikes as this one is among the fastest-growing delivery modes in urban areas. A special emerging problem that challenges urban distribution and fits into the two-echelon setting is omnichannel retailing. The major challenge for cities and operators lies in the positioning of the transshipment and the resulting logistics organization: upstream for their supply, and downstream for delivery to customers."<br/

    No full text

International audienceSocial media live streams (SMLSs) are becoming mainstream e-commerce platforms, especially for direct selling, offering online retailers (e-tailers) immense consumer interaction and engagement levels. Despite their growing prevalence, e-tailers face difficulties capitalising on this platform to enhance retail operations. This paper explores how SMLSs affect consumers' purchase intentions by exploring their motivations for participating in e-commerce SMLSs. To this end, we used the uses and gratifications (U&G) theory to explain how using SMLSs to satisfy consumers' needs could lead to high or low purchase intentions. It was done by collecting cross-sectional data from 795 consumers who have participated in e-commerce SMLSs. The data were analysed using partial least squares-structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) and fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA). Our findings revealed that people use SMLSs to satisfy their need for value, social identification, and the medium's attributes. Based on these findings, we show six configurations that lead to high or low purchase intentions and make corresponding theoretical propositions. Thus, our study contributes to the research and practice of using SMLSs for online shopping

    No full text
National audienceThe paper examines the contribution of SFC modelling to the definition of a green policy mix that would facilitate the implementation of a climate transition policy. First, traditional SFC models are used to assess whether unconventional monetary policies can increase the budgetary leeway and contribute to finance the high cost of the climate transition. Second, the analysis is extended to national or world SFC models that integrate the environmental dimension. Some of the various aspects of a green policy mix (green QE, selective credit policy, fiscal measures, active public spending) are discussed in this framework.L’article examine l’apport des modèles stocks-flux cohérents (SFC) à la définition d’un policy mix vert facilitant la mise en œuvre d’une politique de transition climatique.

Using sensemaking as a lens to assess student learning on corporate social responsibility and sustainability

    No full text
International audiencePrior literature suggests that teaching corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability has led to little development of students' reflexive engagement with the challenges of sustainable development. To shed light on this criticism, we apply sensemaking—as entailing the three stages of scanning for information, interpreting it and identifying alternatives of action—to CSR/sustainability education. Analysing cognitive maps of CSR, drawn by undergraduate finalists from a UK business school, we find that students are able to produce complex cognitive maps in terms of scanning for information; however, cognitive bottlenecks occur at the second and third stages of sensemaking. A key pedagogical challenge is, therefore, to support students in moving beyond scanning towards developing meaning and acting on that basis. By introducing a sensemaking lens, we add to a deeper understanding of the complexities associated with CSR education as it aids (or impedes) critical engagement and action
