    Electronic Health Record based recruitment support systems: A scoping review to improve patient inclusion within clinical trials

    International audienceObjectiveElectronic Health Record (EHR) data is increasingly used to support patient recruitment in clinical trials (CTs). This scoping review focused on articles reporting an evaluation of EHR-based CT recruitment support systems (CTRSS).MethodsQuerying 3 biomedical literature databases using keywords as “clinical trial as topic”, “patient recruitment”, and “EHR” research articles describing evaluations of EHR-based CTRSS and published in English from 2013 to 2024 were included. Abstract screening was performed by 5 reviewers. Two reviewers performed full-text screening, data extraction and synthesis following 3 major themes: clinical workflow integration, technical aspects, and evaluation of EHR-based CTRSS.ResultsOf 927 screened articles, 44 qualified in scope, providing an evaluation of EHR-based CTRSS conducted within a diverse set of use cases, settings, and technologies. Results showed that 75% of the systems were CT rather than patient centric, and 20% provided patient eligibility information at clinically relevant timepoints in the patient journey and 9% sent notifications to the targeted users. EHR data was transformed according to standard models in 32% of the studies. Eligibility criteria transformation was computer assisted in 48% of the studies. The main patient-trial matching technique was querying structured data in 55% of the cases. Finally, the majority (61%) of evaluations were done retrospectively and led to a complete system evaluation from data transformation to patient – trial matching in 18%.ConclusionDespite the diversity of system scopes and designs, metrics for effective evaluation throughout the entire cycle of system implementation across user, technology, and society levels are emerging. Research effort is still needed to extend the scope, quality, and computability of both the source EHR-data and EC and to conduct harmonized evaluation of these systems to demonstrate their impact on recruitment rates, delays, and costs

    International audienceIn this paper, I ask how colonial and academic writings from the 19th and early 20th centuries are responsible for the gender-stereotyping and linguistic-stereotyping of ukuhlonipha, an avoidance-based custom of respect traditionally applied to in-laws among Nguni-speaking communities in Southern Africa. I engage in the historical recovery process by suggesting that the knowledge circulation from colonial-era South Africa to philological and anthropological theories of imperial-era Europe is evidence of a knowledge erasure about the custom of ukuhlonipha

    International audienceThis poster presents a scalable digital twin (DT) architecture for electric roads, illustrated through the eRoadMontBlanc project. The goal is to optimize the deployment and real-time management of Electric Road Systems (ERS), which allow EVs to charge while driving. Current DTs are insufficient due to lack of interoperability, scalability, and adaptability. The proposed solution leverages NGSI-LD (ETSI standard) for semantic data modeling and integrates heterogeneous data.     Regional Variations in Nitrous Oxide in the Indian Groundwater: Influence of Agricultural Practices, Irrigation, and Rainfall Patterns

    International audienceIntensified agricultural practices, particularly the increased use of nitrogen fertilizers, are fueling the rise of nitrous oxide (N2O) in groundwater. This gas is produced through the nitrification/denitrification of inorganic nitrogen in the ground- water. Based on combined chemical and isotopic analyses of nitrate (NO3−) and chemical analysis of N2O, we present the first-ever evidence for widespread denitrification-driven N2O accumulation in Indian groundwater that often exceeds 25 times the saturation level. This phenomenon is particularly concerning in regions where low precipitation is received with intensive groundwater irrigation, leading to an inadvertent accumulation of N2O in the groundwater. The emission factor for groundwater (EF5g) from the agricultural soils of India is significantly lower (0.00067) than the global mean values (0.008), suggesting that indirect fluxes of N2O from the Indian soils are lower than the global mean. Implementing sustainable agricultural practices and maximum feasible control measures could further reduce indirect N2O emissions from agricultural soils and their associated environmental consequences

    International audienceLes yeux ouverts et tout à l’écoute d’une ville, les photographes Maria Letizia Piantoni et Hortense Soichet ont arpenté en tous sens les lieux et rues et places de Clichy, tout près de Paris. Au cours de leur déambulation, elles ont rencontré les personnes qui y vivent et qui leur ont parlé de leur quotidien et du sentiment d’être clichois, de longue date ou tout récemment. Elles ont pris soin d’enregistrer ces paroles en regard de leur travail de photographie. Il en résulte un portrait pluriel, sensible et très vivant d’une ville métropolitaine en pleine transformation

    International audienceIn the context of a Bachelor of Technology degree in Multimedia and Internet Professions, the "Re-Generation" project explores fundamental tensions in contemporary design education: how to reconcile professionalization, academic constraints, and social impact?How can we respond to what we identify as a fourfold challenge for training future designers, situated at the intersection of societal issues addressed through design, professional requirements, pedagogical and academic objectives, and the professional and personal aspirations of both students and the teaching team?The project confronts students with the reality of a "wicked problem" while developing their professional skills. Through the collection and mediation of life stories (printed materials, web interface, short film), they explore the complexity of intergenerational relationships and the challenges of memory valorization. Inspired by Manzini's SLOC concept, this situated approach seeks to overcome local constraints while offering reproducible solutions. Comment répondre à ce que nous identifions comme un quadruple enjeu pour la formation des futurs designers qui se situe au croisement d'enjeux sociétaux pensés-pansés par le design, d'exigences professionnelles, d'objectifs pédagogiques et académiques et d'aspirations professionnelles et personnelles des étudiants et de l'équipe pédagogique. Le projet confronte les étudiants à la réalité d'un « wicked problem » tout en développant leurs compétences professionnelles. À travers la collecte et la médiation de récits de vie (supports imprimés, interface web, court-métrage), ils explorent la complexité des relations intergénérationnelles et des enjeux de valorisation des mémoires.
