    No full text
This thesis explores the development of a non-isolated power converter based on GaN transistors intended for space applications. The new generation of computing units used in space applications, such as FPGAs, require converters capable of delivering voltages between 0.6V and 1.5V for currents up to 120A. The main objective of this work was to design a high-density POL converter capable of regulating input voltages from 5V to 12V for outputs ranging from 0.6V to 1.5V, with an output power greater than 100W. To overcome the limitations of existing converters, this thesis explores several innovations : an integrated current measurement within the PCB, optimization of the passive components of the selected topology, a non-linear multi-phase control technique implemented in analog, and the parallel operation of converters. The work presented is divided into three main axes. The first axis laid the design foundations necessary for realizing a synchronous Buck converter surpassing the performance of converters using the same topology in space applications. It also introduced an integrated current measurement and an associated optimization method, making this approach particularly competitive compared to traditional methods in this type of application. In the second axis, passive components from state-of-the-art topologies in terrestrial applications were optimized and compared to select the most efficient one for the targeted application. The algorithm developed for this optimization coupled SPICE simulations, using SPICE models from manufacturers for active components, theoretical calculations, and manufacturer data for magnetics. This optimization led to a double step-down buck converter topology and a two-phase, two-level topology. This was implemented and experimentally validated through a prototype to confirm its functionality and a second as an integrated power module demonstrating its compactness. The third axis of this thesis focused on the parallel operation of the previously developed SPOL40A converter. Several parallel operation techniques were compared based on various criteria, such as the ability to balance the currents supplied by each converter, ease of implementation using discrete analog components, and minimizing interconnections between modules. The active voltage positioning technique was selected and implemented. An analog schematic was proposed and experimentally implemented to validate its operation. A final prototype was built, enabling the conversion of an input voltage between 5V and 12V to 1V , delivering over 120A of current, exceeding the current state-of-the-art in space applications.

Synthesis of multivalent chondroitin sulfate oligosaccharides targeting the exosites of cathepsin K

International audienceChondroitin sulfate (CS) are heteropolysaccharides that belong to a family of complex polyanionic polymers called glycosaminoglycans (GAGs). They consist of a repeating disaccharide unit composed of a D-glucuronic acid (D-GlcA) and 2-acetamindo-2-deoxy-D-galactose (D-GalNAc) and bearing sulfate groups primarily at the position 4 (CS-A) and/or position 6 (CS-E/CS-C) of the D-GalNAc [1]. Their structural diversity and sulfation patterns determine their biological functions, including neuronal development, morphogenesis, and cell-cell recognition, through interactions with various proteins [2]. Additionally, CS are major structural components of connective tissues, particularly in cartilage, skin, and bone [3]. Multivalency is a key feature in glycan-protein interactions, enhancing both affinity and specificity while enabling supramolecular organization at the cell surface [4]. Despite its importance, multivalent CS constructs remain scarce [5]. Here, we present our approach, for the synthesis of well-defined CS oligosaccharides with controlled sulfation [6] patterns and various linkage systems and platforms to promote multivalency

Investigating the H I distribution and kinematics of ESO444-G084 and [KKS2000]23: New insights from the MHONGOOSE survey

    No full text
International audienceWe present the neutral atomic hydrogen (H I ) distribution, kinematics, mass modelling, and gravitational stability of the dwarf irregular galaxies ESO444–G084 and [KKS2000]23 using high spatial, spectral, and column density sensitivity data from the MeerKAT H I observations of nearby galactic objects: Observing Southern Emitters (MHONGOOSE) survey obtained with MeerKAT. ESO444–G084 exhibits centrally concentrated H I emission, while [KKS2000]23 has irregularly distributed high-density pockets. The total H I fluxes measured down to column density thresholds of 10 19 cm −2 and 10 18 cm −2 are nearly the same, suggesting that the increase in the H I diameter at lower column densities is primarily due to the larger beam size, and that no significant additional emission is detected. The total H I masses are (1.1±0.1)×10 8 M ⊙ for ESO444–G084 and (6.1±0.3)×10 8 M ⊙ for [KKS2000]23. We derived rotation curves using 3D kinematic modelling tools Python fully automated TiRiFiC (PyFAT) and tilted ring fitting code (TiRiFiC), which allow us to fully capture the gas kinematics. Both galaxies exhibit disk-like rotation, with ESO444–G084 showing a kinematic warp beyond ∼1.8 kpc. Its relatively fast-rising rotation curve suggests a more centrally concentrated dark matter distribution, whereas [KKS2000]23's more gradual rise indicates a more extended mass distribution. Mass modelling with an isothermal halo and stellar mass-to-light ratio ( M / L ) 3. μ m * =0.20 for ESO444–G084 and 0.18 for [KKS2000]23 yields physically consistent results. We further analyse disk stability using spatially resolved maps of the Toomre Q parameter and Σ gas /Σ crit , linking these with recent star formation traced by hydrogen-alpha (H α ) and far-ultraviolet (FUV) emission. ESO444–G084 supports localised star formation despite global stability, while [KKS2000]23 is gravitationally unstable yet lacks strong H α emission, suggesting that turbulence, gas depletion, or past feedback suppresses star formation. The absence of detectable inflows or outflows implies that internal processes regulate star formation. This study highlights the interplay between H I morphology, kinematics, dark matter distribution, and disk stability, demonstrating how internal mechanisms shape dwarf galaxy evolution

Ion-rich acceleration during an eruptive flux rope event in a multiple null-point configuration

International audienceWe report on the γγ-ray emission above 100~MeV from the GOES M3.3 flare SOL2012-06-03. The hard X-ray (HXR) and microwave emissions have typical time profiles with a fast rise to a well-defined peak followed by a slower decay. The >100~MeV emission during the prompt phase displayed a double-peaked temporal structure with the first peak following the HXR and microwaves, and the second one, about three times stronger, occurring 17±217 \pm 2 seconds later. The time profiles seem to indicate two separate acceleration mechanisms at work, where the second γγ-ray peak reveals a potentially pure or at least largely dominant ion acceleration. The Atmospheric Imaging Assembly imaging shows a bright elliptical ribbon and a transient brightening in the north-western (NW) region. Nonlinear force-free extrapolations at the time of the impulsive peaks show closed field lines connecting the NW region to the south-eastern part of the ribbon and the magnetic topology revealed clusters of nulls. These observations suggest a spine-and-fan geometry, and based on these observations we interpret the second γγ-ray peak as being due to the predominant acceleration of ions in a region with multiple null points. The >100 MeV emission from this flare also exhibits a delayed phase with an exponential decay of roughly 350 seconds. We find that the delayed emission is consistent with ions being trapped in a closed flux tube with gradual escape via their loss cone to the chromosphere

    No full text
