Analytical solution for fuel cell electric vehicle energy management including a long-term predefined velocity profile

    No full text
International audienceThis paper proposes a new Energy Management Strategy (EMS) for Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEVs) that optimizes energy efficiency and fuel cell durability, while remaining implementable in real-time. The approach uses an analytical solution of the minimization problem for fuel consumption, which provides the constant fuel-cell power required to bring the state of charge (SoC) from its initial value to its desired final value. This global optimization, done for the initial route prediction, is included in a new control framework with a SoC regulator. This controller tracks the desired SoC evolution when the actual vehicle route is perturbed, while respecting constraints that preserve fuel cell longevity by 40 % compared to equivalent SoC controllers in the literature. The performance of the proposed EMS is assessed using Matlab/Simulink simulations for several case studies based on standard and perturbed driving cycles, showing up to a 10 % reduction in hydrogen consumption and up to a 50 % improvement in fuel cell lifespan compared to other energy management strategies

Synthesis and Antibacterial Activity of Novel Phosphonated CF3-β-lactams

    No full text
International audienceA new series of C-3 phosphonated 4-CF3-β-lactams was stereoselectively synthesized from corresponding 4-CF3-β-lactams, applying two different protocols for phosphonate group incorporation. The first method involved the direct incorporation of a phosphonate (V) moiety at the C-3 position although it was limited by steric hindrance. The second approach enabled the incorporation of a less bulky phosphonite (III), which was subsequently oxidized to the corresponding phosphonate (V). The synthesized β-lactam ring features both fluorinated and phosphonate substituents, which are known for their biological significance, such as enhancing membrane permeability, improving binding interactions, and inhibiting enzymes. Considering these properties, along with the inherent antibacterial potential of β-lactams, we evaluated the antibacterial activity of selected C-3 phosphonated 4-CF3-β-lactams against four bacterial strains (Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus), methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Neisseria gonorrheae, Escherichia coli (E. coli)). Applying the disk diffusion method, MIC measurements, and β-lactamase inhibition assays, compounds 11 and 16 emerged as the most promising candidates in this preliminary antibacterial evaluation

    Les endoperoxydes, des hétérocycles singuliers

    No full text
National audienceEndoperoxides are cyclic organic peroxides widely represented in many natural substances of interest. Their biosynthesis generally requires the action of molecular oxygen in a triplet or singlet state, depending on the mechanism involved. The synthesis of endoperoxides has always been methodologically underdeveloped, but some pioneering work has led to a better understanding and mastery of two key concepts in this field: radical peroxidation and use of peroxycarbenium species. This article describes recent developments in endoperoxide chemistry at BioCIS laboratories (Biomolécules : Conception, Isolement, Synthèse) at Paris-Saclay University, which have contributed to the study of new reactions and catalytic conditions enabling the synthesis of 5- and 6-chain endoperoxides (1,2-dioxolanes and 1,2-dioxanes), as well as several natural products, with a high degree of selectivity, notably thanks to asymmetric catalysis directed by chiral counter-anions.

Enantiopurity-Dependent Peptide Coacervates and Asymmetric Organocatalysis

    No full text
International audienceAbstract Membraneless compartmentalization via liquid–liquid phase separation (LLPS) has emerged as a powerful strategy to organize biochemical reactions. Recently, peptide-based coacervates demonstrated the potential to function as microreactors by enhancing reaction kinetics through increased local concentrations and altered microenvironments. Here, we introduce an O-methylated diphenylalanine-based tripeptide LLL PFF-OCH 3 containing an N-terminal proline, designed to undergo LLPS, and simultaneously function as an enantioselective organocatalyst. Comprehensive characterization via confocal microscopy, fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP), micro-Raman and attenuated total reflection infrared (ATR-IR) spectroscopy, diffusion-surface plasmon resonance ( D -SPR), and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations revealed the formation of stable liquid droplets. In contrast, a racemic mixture of LLL PFF-OCH 3 and DDD PFF-OCH 3 failed to form liquid droplets and instead formed a solid precipitate, unveiling a critical role of enantiopurity in LLPS. Proof-of-concept catalytic studies proved enantioselective organocatalytic activity of the LLL PFF-OCH 3 liquid coacervates. Beyond catalysis these results may have broader implications in understanding prebiotic chemistry and neurodegeneration

MIRI-LRS Spectrum of a Cold Exoplanet around a White Dwarf: Water, Ammonia, and Methane Measurements

    No full text
International audienceThe study of the atmosphere of exoplanets orbiting white dwarfs is a largely unexplored field. With WD 0806-661 b, we present the first deep dive into the atmospheric physics and chemistry of a cold exoplanet around a white dwarf. We observed WD 0806-661 b using JWST's Mid-InfraRed Instrument Low-Resolution Spectrometer, covering the wavelength range from 5 to 12 μm, and the Imager, providing us with 12.8, 15, 18, and 21 μm photometric measurements. We carried the data reduction of those data sets, tackling second-order effects to ensure a reliable retrieval analysis. Using the TAUREX retrieval code, we inferred the pressure-temperature structure, atmospheric chemistry, mass, and radius of the planet. The spectrum of WD 0806-661 b is shaped by molecular absorption of water, ammonia, and methane, consistent with a cold Jupiter atmosphere, allowing us to retrieve their abundances. From the mixing ratio of water, ammonia, and methane we derive C/O = 0.34 ± 0.06, / = -+ C N 14.4 1.8 2.5 , and N/O = 0.023 ± 0.004 and the ratio of detected metals as a proxy for metallicity. We also derive upper limits for the abundance of CO and CO 2 (1.2 × 10 -6 and 1.6 × 10 -7 , respectively), which were not detected by our retrieval models. While our interpretation of WD 0806-661 b's atmosphere is mostly consistent with our theoretical understanding, some results-such as the lack of evidence for water clouds, an apparent increase in the mixing ratio of ammonia at low pressure, or the retrieved mass at odds with the supposed age-remain surprising and require follow-up observational and theoretical studies to be confirmed.</div

    No full text
