Coins of the ‘Syrian Empresses’ with the legend VENVS VICTRIX from lost hoard of Roman coins from Bulgaria
No full textAmong the, now lost, hoard of Roman coins presented by Filipova, three were the coins of the female dynasts of the Severan dynasty with the VENVS VICTRIX legend on the reverse. The article examines the iconography of the coins in the light of the previous examples of the issues with the same legend. The conclusion is made that the reference to the goddess ideologically linked the dynasty with the predecessors however special reverence might also suggest an exceptional religious connection of the empresses with Venus, the deity which guaranteed in all her incarnations and aspects the permanence of the domus divina.Among the, now lost, hoard of Roman coins presented by Filipova, three were the coins of the female dynasts of the Severan dynasty with the VENVS VICTRIX legend on the reverse. No full textThe article discusses unique iconography of the denarius of Julia Maesa from the British Museum [inv. 1992,0509.184]. The inscription of the reverse states Venus Victrix however the set of attributes does not match the conventional images of the goddess. This iconographic bricolage of various goddesses can be interpreted in terms of dynastic cult of the empresses of the Severan dynasty but also, as message addressed to Syrian army and population at the time of war against Macrinus. With this intention, Andranik’s and Dro’s forces were taken out, with the help of British generals Thomson and Shutleworth. This allowed Azerbaijani families on the 21 of August in 1912 make the Armenian council In Karabagh temporarily obey Azerbaijani Government till the solution of this disputable issue by the French conference of allied union, which was one of the beforehand planned cunningsteps of Azerbaijani government. In reality, as a result t of later important military changes in the Republic of Armenia and as a result of mutually beneficial agreement between Russian and Kemal Turkey as well as taking into consideration the evident connivance of allied powers during 1920-23 Azerbaijani managed to capture not only Nachijevan, but Karabagh and other Armenian lands, as well, the struggle for which restarted in 1988-1990.In 1918-20s the steps of military politics of Azerbaijani were directed towards the frustration of Armenian State system. No full textThe complete translation from Czech into Polish of an important, but still little-known work (Czech: Přemyšlování o dokonalosti křesťanské. V jazyce 21. století – English: Meditations on Christian perfection. In the language of the 21st century) introduces us to the subject matter, concerning the period when Comenius had to hide from the persecuting Habsburgs. The first years of John Amos Comenius after the defeat of the Battle of White Mountain in Prague in 1620 are presented, as well as the immediate repression that was applied against dissenters who did not convert to Catholicism according to the Habsburg concept. Comenius\u27s separation from his pregnant wife and his longing for her caused him to write the work in question for her in 1622. The translation of this manuscript (Christian-philosophical treatise) fills a large gap in Polish comeniology. In the work translated into Polish, we can learn how Comenius understood „Christian perfection”.Przetłumaczenie w całości z języka czeskiego na polski istotnego, lecz nadal mało znanego dzieła (czes. Přemyšlování o dokonalosti křesťanské. V jazyce 21. století – pol. Rozmyślania o doskonałości chrześcijańskiej. W języku XXI wieku) wprowadza nas w przedmiotową problematykę dotyczącą okresu, kiedy Komeński musiał ukrywać się przed prześladowczymi Habsburgami. Zaprezentowane są pierwsze lata J.A. Komeńskiego po przegra-nej bitwie na Białej Górze w 1620 roku oraz jakie były natychmiast stosowane represje wobec innowierców, którzy nie przeszli na katolicyzm w koncepcji habsburskiej. Odseparowanie Komeńskiego od ciężarnej żony oraz tęsknota za nią spowodowały, że napisał dla niej w 1622 roku przedmiotowe dzieło. Tłumaczenie tego manuskryptu (traktatu chrześcijańsko-filozoficznego) wypełnia sporą lukę w polskiej komeniologii. W dziele przetłumaczonym na język polski możemy dowiedzieć się, jak Komeński pojmował „doskonałość chrześcijańską”

No full textThe present paper provides a literature review on the concepts of organizational culture and a brief history of its development. Scientific views are analyzed according to the superficial, internal and deep levels of organizational culture. Every organization has a certain structure of its organizational culture, basic values and the values that determine its viability in everyday life. Organizational culture is a complex phenomenon and represents a pressing scientific problem, which at the moment of our research has not been properly studied in Georgia. Considering such limitations, we use the single case study method in our research, which allows us to provide an in-depth analysis of current events in a real context, to identify causal connections in the research phenomenon. This paper presents a case of a successful culture based on the example of the Bank of Georgia. The case examines the values of the organizational culture at different levels, showing how a strong, unified culture is formed in the company and how culture impacts the company’s activities. The study of the documentation depicting the functioning of the Bank of Georgia showed us that the organizational culture determines the image and reputation of the bank, ensures employee and customer satisfaction, and strengthens the reputation of the bank as the best employer.W artykule dokonano przeglądu literatury dotyczącej koncepcji kultury organizacyjnej oraz krótkiej historii jej rozwoju. Poglądy naukowe analizuje się według: powierzchownych, wewnętrznych i głębokich poziomów kultury organizacyjnej. Każda organizacja ma określoną strukturę swojej kultury organizacyjnej, podstawowe wartości i te, które decydują o jej przetrwaniu w życiu codziennym. Kultura organizacyjna jest zjawiskiem złożonym i stanowi palący problem naukowy, który w chwili naszych badań nie został należycie zbadany w Gruzji. Mając na uwadze takie ograniczenia, w naszych badaniach stosujemy metodę pojedynczego przypadku, która pozwala na pogłębioną analizę bieżących wydarzeń w realnym kontekście, aby zidentyfikować powiązania przyczynowe w badanym zjawisku. W artykule przedstawiono przypadek kultury sukcesu na przykładzie Banku Gruzji na różnych poziomach, pokazując, jak w firmie kształtuje się silna, jednolita kultura i jak kultura wpływa na działalność firmy. Badanie dokumentacji obrazującej funkcjonowanie Banku Gruzji wykazało, że kultura organizacyjna determinuje wizerunek, zapewnia satysfakcję pracowników i klientów oraz wzmacnia reputację banku jako najlepszego pracodawcy

No full textThe aim of the article is to present the essence of disruptions in the supply chain and assess how they are linked with enterprise resilience. Furthermore, it aims to indicate how company’s operations are impacted in the long term. The article has a theoretical and empirical character. It presents the results of empirical research conducted in the third quarter of 2022 at Geis Global Logistics. Here we look to answer three research questions concerning the problems and challenges resulting from the pandemic and geopolitical crisis, their role in creating new development opportunities for the company, and defining key logistics and supply chain strategies to maintain its competitiveness in a turbulent environment. The results show the actions taken by the Transport Forwarding Logistics (TFL) industry entity to survive and be competitive in the market, i.e., building resilience through the ability to absorb, react, and rebuild after disruptions.
Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie istoty zakłóceń w łańcuchu dostaw i ich powiązań z odpornością w działalności przedsiębiorstw oraz wskazanie wpływu na działanie przedsiębiorstwa w długim okresie. Artykuł ma charakter teoretyczno-empiryczny. Zaprezentowano w nim wyniki badań empirycznych, które zostały zrealizowane w III kwartale 2022 r. w Geis Global Logistics, poprzez znalezienie odpowiedzi na trzy pytania badawcze. Dotyczą one: problemów/wyzwań wynikających z pandemii i kryzysu geopolitycznego, ich roli w kontekście tworzenia nowych możliwości rozwoju badanego przedsiębiorstwa oraz określenia kluczowych strategii działań w odniesieniu do logistyki i łańcuchów dostaw, dla utrzymania konkurencyjności Geis Global Logistics w turbulentnym otoczeniu. Wyniki pokazują działania podejmowane przez podmiot branży TSL, by przetrwać i być konkurencyjnym na rynku – budując odporność poprzez zdolność do absorpcji, reagowania i odbudowy po zakłóceniach

No full textSince the innovativeness of the economy is influenced by education and science (especially higher education), building bridges between the worlds of science and business has become a necessity. This approach is reflected in the practical implementation of the entrepreneurial university model. This article presents the essence of this model, with particular emphasis on the university-business cooperation along with the resulting benefits and selected areas of its implementation. The aim of the article is to indicate the activities of universities that fit into the entrepreneurial univer-sity model. Versatile forms of cooperation with enterprises implemented in 2017-2023 were indicated on the example of the activity of the Department of Logistics and Innovations of the University of Łódź. The study used the participant observation method. The article is of a theoretical and empirical nature.Na innowacyjność gospodarki ma wpływ m.in. funkcjonowanie edukacji i nauki (zwłaszcza szkolnictwa wyższego), dlatego konstruowanie pomostu pomiędzy światem nauki a biznesu staje się koniecznością. Podejście to ma swój wyraz w praktycznej realizacji modelu uniwersytetu przedsiębiorczego. Celem artykułu jest wskazanie aktywności uczelni, które wpisują się w model uniwersytetu przedsiębiorczego. Krótko przedstawiono ewolucję modelu uniwersytetu, by w dalszej części skupić się na istocie modelu trzeciej generacji. Wskazano formy transferu wiedzy z uczelni wyższych do otoczenia oraz główne zadania centrów współpracy z biznesem oraz omówiono płaszczyzny możliwej współpracy oraz określono wynikające z niej korzyści (dla obu stron). Przyjmując perspektywę B. Clarka oraz J.G. Wissema wskazano na działania Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego, które wpisują się w model uniwersytetu przedsiębiorczego. Na przykładzie aktywności Katedry Logistyki i Innowacji UŁ wskazano formy współpracy z przedsiębiorstwami zrealizowane w latach 2017-2023 (w badaniu zastosowano metodę obserwacji uczestniczącej). Konstatacja autorki jest taka, że biorąc pod uwagę wielopłaszczyznowe korzyści z kooperacji uczelni wyższych i biznesu państwo powinno tworzyć ekosystem, w którym biznes będzie realnie współpracował z uczelniami. No full textState-owned enterprises play a major role in today\u27s global economy. However, they are accused of low efficiency as a result of flawed corporate governance. Listed state-owned enterprises are hybrid companies because they combine different institutional logics. Listed companies, in order to gain legitimacy from stakeholders, provide information to the market. Stakeholders expect companies to provide reliable information on the achievement of goals they care about. Corporate governance is monitored on reports of listed companies\u27 adherence to good practices of listed companies. It was decided to investigate the usefulness for stakeholders of reports on compliance with the good practice of companies on the Warsaw Stock Exchange for assessing corporate governance. Corporate governance is a problem for state-owned enterprises due to the need to combine corporate and state logic. Hybrid state-owned enterprises (SOEs) also have to follow the logic of the capital market. Therefore, the subject of the study was compliance with good practices of listed companies by hybrid SOEs listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. The aim of the study was to find out how their corporate governance compares with other companies. A quantitative study was conducted using the COMPLY factor. It turned out that hybrid SOEs performed better than other companies listed on the same stock indices and in the same sectors. Thus, the results of the study point to the inadequacy of the good practice reporting system.Przedsiębiorstwa państwowe odgrywają dużą rolę we współczesnej światowej gospodarce. Jednak stawia się im zarzut niskiej efektywności będącej skutkiem ułomnego ładu korporacyjnego. Przedsiębiorstwa państwowe notowane na giełdzie to hybrydowe spółki, ponieważ łączą różne logiki instytucjonalne. Spółki notowane na giełdzie, aby uzyskać legitymację od interesariuszy, przekazują informacje na rynek. Interesariusze oczekują od spółek rzetelnych informacji na temat realizacji celów, na których im zależy. Ład korporacyjny jest monitorowany na podstawie raportów przestrzegania przez notowane spółki dobrych praktyk spółek giełdowych. Postanowiono zbadać przydatność dla interesariuszy raportów przestrzegania za-sad dobrych praktyk spółek na GPW w Warszawie do oceny ładu korporacyjnego. Problemem przedsiębiorstw państwowych jest ład korporacyjny ze względu na konieczność łączenia logiki korporacyjnej i logiki państwa. Hybrydowe spółki Skarbu Państwa (SSP) dodatkowo muszą kierować się także logiką rynku kapitałowego. Dlatego przedmiotem badania było przestrzeganie dobrych praktyk spółek giełdowych przez hybrydowe SSP notowane na GPW w Warszawie. Celem badania było sprawdzenie, jaki jest ich ład korporacyjny w porównaniu do innych spółek. Przeprowadzono badania ilościowe wykorzystując współczynnik COMPLY. Okazało się, że hybrydowe SSP wypadły lepiej niż pozostałe spółki notowane w tych samych indeksach giełdowych oraz w tych samych sektorach. Wyniki badań wskazują więc na niedoskonałość systemu raportowania dobrych praktyk
