Dialogical organizing in the interstices of a monological organization

It uses a theoretical framework drawing simultaneously from communicational approaches (Cooren & al., 2011; Kuhn, 2008; Taylor & Cooren, 1997) and dialogical approaches inspired by Bakhtin (Clot, 2009; Jabril, 2016; Lorino & Tricard, 2012; Lorino, Tricard & Clot, 2011; Shotter, 2008; Tsoukas, 2009), stressing the convergences and complementarity between these two frameworks, their potential divergences, and their implications for organizational theory and for research methodology
How to determine exchange rates under risk neutrality: A note
No full textInternational audienceThe goal of this paper is to determine the exchange rates consistent with an equilibrium in the international assets and goods markets. We present a wealth model of a two-country economy where financial assets and goods are traded. We consider the case where the agents are risk neutral, a very common assumption in finance in order to have explicit solutions for prices, and, in particular, in international finance for exchange rates using the non-null Pareto optima. We show that the Pareto optima in the international assets and goods markets are found to coincide with the net trade allocations. More notably, under a no-arbitrage condition in the assets markets, we can define an exchange rates system for which PPP holds. We provide conditions to have a non-null Pareto optimum to compute the exchange rates. We give an example with a non-null Pareto optimum associated with the determination of the exchange rate. © 2017 Elsevier B.V

Experimental evidence on bank runs under partial deposit insurance
No full textThis paper presents experimental evidence on depositor behavior under partial deposit insurance schemes. In the experiment, the size of a deposit insurance fund cannot fully cover all deposits and the level of insurance depends on the number of depositors running on the bank. We show that this form of strategic uncertainty about deposit coverage exerts a significant impact on the propensity to withdraw, and results in a large frequency of bank runs. Runs are more likely when depositors have noisy information about the size of the insurance fund and as the maximum coverage increases, in line with a risk-dominant equilibrium selection mechanism. From a policy perspective, our results emphasize the limits of underfunded deposit insurance schemes in preventing systemic banking crises
A theological approach to organizational visual representations
No full textWe argue that analytical and critical aspects of theology can contribute to organizational research, and potentially assist in elaborating new concepts. To lay this out, we use Christian orthodox theology of icons as an analytical framework to study organizational visual representations. We generate three important insights. First, we point to the need, so far neglected, to question and theorize the relation between the representation and what is represented. Second, we highlight the prominence of symbolism over aesthetic aspects. Third, we underline that images are both embedded within meaningful relationships with other images, and used in social and power relationships. Building on these insights, we elaborate the notion of epistemic power to account for the capacity of visual representations to provide knowledge of an object of inquiry which cannot be immediately conscripted nor clearly perceived in its entirety. We contribute to the integration of theological analysis in organizational research by showing how it can further extend our understanding of secular organizational settings

No full textInternational audienceDiscourse analysis has long been exclusively in the hands of linguistic and sociolinguistic, before being sociological research objects and entering the economic research. Although the economics of central bank communication has gained importance, the regulatory authorities are mainly shrugged off. Based on the theory of acts of language, the article explores the communication and official’s speech of the French financial regulation authority’s (AMF). Given the legal duties of the regulator regarding its communication to the public, this article analyzes first, how the press produces information on the action of the AMF. It also studies via a lexicometric method, speeches released in the press by the AMF officials.L’analyse de discours a longtemps été développée exclusivement dans le cadre des études linguistiques et sociolinguistiques, avant de devenir un objet de recherche pour la sociologie puis pour la recherche économique. Si l’analyse économique de la communication des banques centrales a gagné en importance, celle des autorités de régulation est encore peu développée. L’article explore la communication et les discours concernant l’Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) et cherche à montrer à quelles conditions les discours de l’AMF peuvent produire un effet réel sur les marchés, en s’inspirant de la théorie des actes de langages. Il analyse d’abord comment la presse produit de l’information sur l’action de l’AMF au regard des missions et prérogatives fixées par le législateur. Il étudie aussi, via une méthode lexicométrique, les discours tenus dans la presse par les responsables de l’AMF
Using the AMAN-DA method to generate security requirements: a case study in the maritime domain
No full text[Context and motivation] Security requirements are known to be " the most difficult of requirements types " , and potentially the ones causing the greatest risk if they are not correct. One approach to requirements elicitation is based on the reuse of explicit knowledge. AMAN-DA is a requirement elicitation method that reuses encapsulated knowledge in security and domain ontologies to produce security requirements specifications. [Question/Problem] The main research question addressed in this paper is to what extent is AMAN-DA able to generate domain specific security requirements? [Principal idea/results] Following a well-documented process, a case study related to the maritime domain was undertaken with the goal to demonstrate the utility and effectiveness of AMAN-DA for the elicitation and analysis of domain specific security requirements. The usefulness of the method was also evaluated with a group of twelve experts. [Contribution] The paper demonstrates the elicitation of domain specific security requirements by presenting the AMAN-DA method and its application. It describes the evaluation and reports some significant results and their implications for practice, and future research, especially for the field of knowledge reuse in requirements engineering
Le côté sombre de la pression exercée sur les consommateurs par les programmes de fidélité : enjeux éthiques et pratiques
No full textInternational audienceEn dépit des effets vertueux de la pression exercée par les programmes de fidélité sur le comportement des clients (augmentation du niveau ou de la fréquence de consommation), la pression ressentie par les consommateurs peut aussi avoir des conséquences négatives sur leur bien-être psychologique. A travers trois études (N=461), nous montrons que la pression perçue peut être source de regret post-achat, d’inconfort dans la relation et de mal-être, et ce, d’autant plus que la valeur perçue du programme est élevée. Trois caractéristiques des programmes susceptibles de générer le plus de pression sont testées : le délai d’expiration des points, le seuil de points à atteindre et la menace de perdre son statut. Seule la perte de statut semble avoir une influence positive sur la pression perçue. Au final, cette recherche milite en faveur d’une évaluation à la fois quantitative et qualitative des programmes, à travers la surveillance du bien-être des clients
