No full textInternational audience– This paper introduces two main contributions to the wireless sensor network domain. The first one consists of determining, using a semi-parametric model, the relationship between the distances separating sensors and the received signal strength indicators (RSSIs) of the signals exchanged by these sensors in a network. As for the second contribution, it consists in tracking a moving target in the network using the estimated RSSI/distance model. The target's position is estimated by combining acceleration information and the estimated distances separating the target from sensors having known positions, using either a Kalman or a particle filter

No full textInternational audienceCrystal and chemical anisotropy effects in AE 2 ZnN 2 , (AE = Ca, Sr, Ba) from ab initio. Abstract: In the tetragonal ternary nitrides AE 2 ZnN 2 (AE = Ca, Sr, Ba), Zn has a rare linear coordination with nitrogen (N–Zn–N) along the c axis and N is located in an AE 5 Zn–like octahedron. Such features lead to original anisotropic crystal and chemical bond effects addressed herein with DFT-GGA based methods accounting for the cohesive energies, the energy volume equations of state EOS, the elastic constants and the properties of chemical bonding. Along AE = Ca, Sr, Ba an increasing overall compressibility under hydrostatic pressure is inferred from the respective EOS's, but the elastic constants C ij exhibit highly anisotropic features with large magnitudes of C 33 along the tetragonal c axis versus smaller C 11 = C 22 along a, b. Decreasing C 33 -C 11 along the title compounds signals decreasing anisotropy. The three ternaries are calculated as small gap insulators in agreement with experimental results of conductivity. The chemical bonding characterizes strong Zn-N bonds versus weaker AE–N thus reflecting the crystal anisotropy.

Resource Allocation in Downlink Non-orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) for Future Radio Access
No full textInternational audienceThis paper investigates a new strategy for radio resource allocation applying a non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) scheme. It calls for the cohabitation of users in the power domain at the transmitter side and for successive interference canceller (SIC) at the receiver side. Taking into account multi-user scheduling, subband assignment and transmit power allocation, a hybrid NOMA scheme is introduced. Adaptive switching to orthogonal signaling (OS) is performed whenever the non-orthogonal cohabitation in the power domain does not improve the achieved data rate per subband. In addition, a new power allocation technique based on waterfilling is introduced to improve the total achieved system throughput. We show that the proposed strategy for resource allocation improves both the spectral efficiency and the cell-edge user throughput. It also proves to be robust in the case of communications in crowded areas

No full textInternational audienceThe objective of this paper is to examine the relationship between audit committees, compensation plans and corporate audit fees in Lebanon by using the data of 110 family firms. A panel data was used to test our hypothesis, and the result of panel regression shows that audit committee's attributes such as size, independence, meeting frequency and expertise, and compensation plans positively affect corporate audit fees. This result comes in consistency with the fact that the audit committee members' expertise also affects the fees charged by auditors to the company under audit. In addition, both long- and short-term compensation plans affect the fees paid by the auditee to the external auditing firm
