Solutions to barriers to eco-innovation in the LED sector
This document presents solutions to overcome barriers to eco-innovation in the European LED sector. These barriers can be internal to LED firms, such as barriers to ecodesign, or external to them, such as regulatory barriers. Both internal and external barriers to eco-innovation are addressed in this document. Solutions to overcome barriers to eco-innovation in the LED sector are suggested for cycLED partners, for European LED firms, and for European policy makers

The shape of digital transformation : a systematic literature review
International audienceDigital market has never been so unstable due to more and more demanding users and new disruptive competitors. CEOs from most of industries investigate digitalization opportunities. Through a Systematic Literature Review, we found that digital transformation is more than just a technological shift. According to this study, these transformations have had an impact on the business models, the opera- tional processes and the end-users experience. Retour d'expérience sur l'insertion d'un Serious Game dans l'apprentissage des systèmes d'information
National audienceIn a context marked by youth's shift to digital culture instead of academic culture, use of Digital Based Game Leaning (DBGL) is receiving widespread attention from Business schools. Indeed, they are likely to improve student's motivation and enable them to develop knowledge within complex learning situations. Several business schools have engaged in experimenting these new learning systems, but few studies have evaluated the SG and their potential application in Information Systems (IS) teaching. This paper presents a feedback on the use of a SG used in IS teaching: INNOV8. This game is used for teaching Business Process Management, which is a central theme in IS teaching. INNOV8's evaluation was conducted within the course: "Modeling and optimization of business processes," proposed to Master students. The feedback from the students and teachers were quite positive. Nevertheless, the study shows a low potential of the game for novice students in this field.Dans un contexte marqué par une rupture entre la culture numérique des jeunes et la culture universitaire, les pédagogies basées sur l'usage de Serious Games (SG) se sont largement développées. Les SG sont, en effet, susceptibles de solliciter la motivation des étudiants et de leur permettre de développer des connaissances dans le cadre de situations d'apprentissage complexes. Plusieurs grandes écoles se sont lancées dans l'expérimentation de ces nouveaux dispositifs d'apprentissage, mais peu de travaux ont évalué les SG et leurs applications potentielles dans l'enseignement des systèmes d'information (SI). Cet article, présente un retour d'expérience sur l'expérimentation d'un SG utilisé en enseignement des SI : INNOV8. Ce jeu est utilisé pour l'apprentissage du management des processus métiers, une thématique centrale dans l'enseignement des SI. Une évaluation de l'usage de ce jeu a été réalisée dans le cadre du cours : " modélisation et optimisation de processus métiers ", proposé en troisième année d'une école de management. Les retours d'expériences des étudiants et des enseignants sont assez positifs. Néanmoins, l'étude montre un faible potentiel du jeu pour les étudiants novices dans ce domaine
Information and Communications Technology and Education
International audienceAs Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) gradually permeate daily life, they are profoundly changing the way education is conceived and delivered. Teachers play a key role in this transformation process; their beliefs, pedagogical practices, and teaching skills are continuously challenged. ICT integration in the educational process can significantly enhance traditional courses and Internet-based education, i.e., e-learning, is becoming a serious alternative to traditional, face-to-face courses. To be used as a lever for pedagogical innovation and institutional transformation, teacher ICT competencies need to go beyond skills in ICT use per se, and enclose contextual knowledge about technology, pedagogy, and content. On the other hand, learners' engagement with ICT in education depends on their expectations and conceptions of learning and required assessment. A learner's experience with ICT in education is linked to his perception of systems' ease of use and usefulness in achieving learning goals. Adaptive learning systems open new potentialities for a personalized instruction which is tailored to the learner's characteristics. At the edge of a new era, schools, colleges, and higher education struggle to seize opportunities and overcome obstacles
Case studies in e-Government 2.0 : changing citizen relationships
International audienceThe goal of this book is to provide a comprehensive, multi-dimensional approach to research and practice in e-government 2.0 implementation. Contributions from an international panel of experts apply a variety of methodological approaches and illustrative case studies to present state-of-the-art analysis and perspectives. Around the world, governments are employing technological advancements to revolutionize their ways of working, resulting in changing relationships among public organizations and their constituents. Important enablers are new uses of information and knowledge-sharing technologies that emerged with the advent of the Web 2.0 paradigm; initially used in the private arena, such user-friendly, participatory, intuitive and flexible Web 2.0 technologies (e.g., blogs, Wikis, RSS, social networking platforms, folksonomy, podcasting, mashups, virtual worlds, open linked data, etc.) are increasingly disseminated within the professional sphere, regardless of organization type or field of activities. Current e-government environments have undergone considerable transformations in an attempt to satisfy the incessant demand for more advanced e-service delivery, better access to information and more efficient government management. Looking to the future, the emergence of Web 2.0, the rise of social networks and the wider dissemination of data and information are expected to generate many benefits, such as a better match between public services and citizens' expectations, greater adoption of online services by citizens and better control of costs and prevention of delays in the implementation of new services. Governments around the world are building frameworks and proposals for e-government 2.0, in the hopes of improving participation, transparency and integration, while speeding up the pace of innovation through collaboration and consultation. This volume addresses a gap in the research literature, offering timely insights on the e-government 2.0 phenomenon and directions for future practice and policy
The gendering of the computing field in Finland, France and the United Kingdom between 1960 and 1990
International audienceThis chapter documents the role that women played in the computing field in three different European countries from the late 1960s into the early 1990s: Finland, a latecomer to the computer industry which was then deemed of national importance; France which boasted several computer manufacturing companies, and where IT service companies played an important role in the early history of computing; and the United Kingdom, also involved in computer manufacturing, but where the public sector played a major role. We will see that despite national differences, similarities exist concerning the role women played in the computer industry and that the masculinisation of the profession can be attributed to similar causes. Initially jobs were considered unskilled and marked out as women's work. When women acquired the necessary skills to play a more important role, various forms of discrimination slowly discouraged them from staying in computer science. The study of these three countries at the moment when computing was introduced into the public and private sectors and became a major tool for management and strategic decisions, shows how software activities were socially constructed as masculine
Supporting LED eco-innovation and diffusion : what can policy makers do ?
This Policy Brief aims to inform policy-makers and other interested parties about the obstacles faced by European LED firms when developing innovations, notably the ones seeking to reduce environmental impacts (eco-innovations). It also suggests solutions that could help those firms to overcome these obstacles, which would support the diffusion of LED products and services
Understanding knowledge sharing in health care system
International audienceTo date, healthcare organizations need well-established knowledge to support care quality. Managers invest in motivating medical staff and associated healthcare stakeholders to share their respective knowledge. Additionally, they invest in advanced technology to facilitate sharing process. However, these efforts essentially raise classification and privacy concerns. Technology configuration that does not meet management process requirements may lead to managerial difficulties. In fact, information classification in healthcare systems should respect privacy, yet still be accessible. Using qualitative research, our paper proposes a novel ontological model that extends the Systematized Nomenclature of Medicine Clinical Terms (SNOMED CT) with privacy dimension to enhance access to sensitive patient's data
Innovation and competition in the smartphone industry : is there a dominant design ?
FNEGE 4, ABS 1International audienceThe mobile phone industry is a very innovative segment within the ICT sector and the smartphone is becoming the standard configuration among the different types of mobile devices. Technical change and new product proliferation have made this industry extremely dynamic, even if market shares are highly concentrated in the hands of very few companies. The present article investigates whether a dominant design has emerged in the smartphone industry. In particular, it studies the evolution in hardware components relying upon an original dataset of product characteristics including all smartphones launched in the market between 2004 and 2013. Results show that, despite some convergence in the introduction of vertical innovations, product differentiation still characterizes the competition among manufacturers and a dominant design has not yet emerged
