The Roles of the Antecedents in the emergence of a Dynamic Capability: the case of Born Digital Data capability

    No full text
International audienceExplaining variations in competitive advantage across organizations remains a persistent question for strategic management and organizations scholars. We empirically contribute to this explanation through an understanding of the different influences of the antecedents of dynamic capabilities (DCs), organizational processes, firm history, and firm assets, in the case of Born Digital Data (BDD) Capability. We define a BDD as the real-time inception in digital form of an informational representation of an entity state or event. BDD is an emerging phenomenon on which IT-dependent initiatives and DC can create new competitive opportunities. We contribute to the literature on DC antecedents in high-velocity markets by evaluating DC antecedents' influence on DC in IT-dependent initiatives in the case of BDD. Finally, we highlight the influence of BDD initiatives and BDD Capability on its output in terms of digital data accessibility. Our results show the different influences of the antecedents. The organizational processes of sensing, integrating, and coordinating the firm's history with its assets support BDD initiatives. The organizational processes of learning, sensing, coordinating, and integrating strengthen the BDD capability. Finally, BDD initiatives and BDD capability improve the accessibility of digital data

    No full text
International audienceThis paper examines the arguments used to promote the adoption of traditional budgetary controls and the challenge found in Beyond Budgeting. In particular, we have studied two distinct lines of argumentation : One focused on the instability of the environment and was used between 1930 and 1950 in support of traditional budgetary controls, while the other has been used in support of managerial freedom since the 1990s. Both are now used in support of abandoning the traditional budgetary process. In our study, we have tried to understand the homogeneity of the conflicting management rhetoric of the two periods. Our conclusions are based on the work of Boltanski and Thevenot (1991) and Boltanski and Chiapello (1999). The former examine lines of argumentation and the orders of worth on which they rest, while the latter look at the idea of capitalism. We show that lines of argumentation will take on different connotations, depending on the audience and the key concepts used.

Introduction : Pourquoi un livre sur Aussois?

    No full text

Introduction.

Designing branded mobile apps : fundamentals and recommendations

    No full text
FNEGE 3, ABS 2International audienceThe development of mobile applications has represented a challenge and opportunity for companies to market their brands and products through a new channel; however, the branded mobile applications (branded apps) currently available in the market are far from perfect and existing app designs do not yet have wellestablished mobile and social features. This article offers systematic guidelines for branded app design by identifying different levels of strategies that should be taken into consideration by companies. We illustrate five business objectives (communication, customer relationship management, sales, product innovation, and marketing research) and identify five types of branded apps (tool-, game-, social-, m-commerce-, and design-centric). Three functional building blocks are proposed to specify how mobile features, social features, and brand mention elements should be incorporated into branded app development. Various examples of branded apps are provided to illustrate relevant best practices in order to guide marketers in improving branded app design

Social network and private provision of public goods

    No full text
International audienceWe use a simple model of private voluntary contributions to a public good with interdependent individual utilities to study the effect of social network on provision of a public good. Agents in our model have choice between investment in global public good and private consumption, which due to interdependence of individual utilities can be seen as a local public good. Assuming interior solution we characterize Nash equilibrium in terms of the structure of the social network. An individual who is better connected to different parts of the network and whose own ego-network is sparse contribute to public good more than an individual with larger and densely connected ego-network
