A Note on Credit Spread Forwards
No full textThis note presents the most commonly used definition of credit spread forwards, discusses two alternative definitions and proposes one of these three definitions as the standardized version that should be used in the future to prevent confusion. In addition, this note gives an overview on the definition of this credit derivative contract in the most relevant hand-and textbooks in banking and credit risk management that include topics on credit derivatives. It also exemplifies by means of one textbook that although being a standard textbook in banking and financial institutions management for years and read by thousands of practitioners and students, there are still books that erroneously mix definitions, which motivates the present note

No full textWe investigate a crowd-based approach to enhance the outcome of optical character recognition in the domain of receipt capturing to keep track of expenses. In contrast to existing work, our approach is capable of extracting single products and provides categorizations for both articles and expenses, through the use of microtasks which are delegated to an unpaid crowd. To evaluate our approach, we developed a smartphone application based on a receipt analysis and an online questionnaire in which users are able to track expenses by taking photos of receipts, and solve microtasks to enhance the recognition. To provide additional motivation to solve these tasks, we make use of gamification. In a three-week-long user study (N=12), we found that our system is appreciated, that our approach reduces the error rate of captured receipts significantly, and that the gamification provided additional motivation to contribute more and thereby enrich the database
Die Bestimmungsfaktoren der Einführung der Unternehmensmitbestimmung in den OECD-Staaten – Eine fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis
No full textDie Systeme der Unternehmensführung und -kontrolle in den OECD-Staaten unterscheiden sich systematisch im Hinblick auf die Beteiligung von Arbeitnehmern an Entscheidungen. Ausgehend von der Beobachtung, dass die Unternehmensmitbestimmung in Staaten, in denen sie gesetzlich vorgeschrieben ist, jeweils in den 1970er Jahren eingeführt wurde, stellt sich die Frage nach den Bestimmungsfaktoren ihrer Einführung und Stärke. Dieser Beitrag versucht, die Determinanten der Einführung der Unternehmensmitbestimmung zu identifizieren, indem Hypothesen aus der Parteiendifferenztheorie und der Machtressourcentheorie abgeleitet und mittels einer fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis überprüft werden. Es soll ermittelt werden, ob die untersuchten Faktoren eine notwendige und/oder hinreichende Bedingung für die Einführung der Unternehmensmitbestimmung waren.
