Transregionaler Kinderschutz und Kinderrechte – das Saarland in der Großregion
No full textMit der Rolle des Saarlandes in der zuvor auch häufig als SaarLorLux titulierten Großregion beschäftigen sich Christian Schröder, Mark Unbehend, Mallory Völker und Ulrike Zöller mit einem besonderen Fokus auf die grenzüber-
schreitende Zusammenarbeit am Beispiel des transregionalen Kinderschutzes und der Kinderrechte. Nach einem kurzen Überblick über die strukturellen Eckdaten zur Großregion und die jeweiligen nationalen Kinderschutzsysteme in Frankreich, Belgien, Luxemburg und Deutschland folgt zunächst ein Problemaufriss, der die Notwendigkeit von transregionalen Perspektiven und Institutionen im Kinderschutz aufzeigt. Aufbauend hierauf und mithilfe von in qualitativen Interviews gewonnen Erkenntnissen werden ausgewählte Beispiele für die Umsetzung des Kinderschutzes in der Großregion diskutiert. Hierbei wird zum einen deutlich, dass das Saarland im großregionalen Vergleich die letzte Teilregion war, in der die Einführung eines Kinderschutzbeauftragten noch ausstand. Dies ist jedoch für 2023 ebenso in Planung wie die Etablierung eines Saarländischen Rates Kinderschutz. Gemeinsam mit der ebenfalls geplanten Einführung eines Kinderschutzgesetzes, eines „Childhood-House“ an der Uniklinik Homburg sowie von Ombudsleuten für die Beschwerden von Jugendlichen ist in diesem Politikfeld derzeit vieles im Fluss. Inwieweit das Saarland damit tatsächlich zum Spitzenreiter in Sachen Kinderschutz“ wird, muss sich der Autorin und den Autoren zufolge jedoch noch in der realen Umsetzung zeigen. Faster, Harder? Investigating the Impact of Changing Background Music Speed on Gameplay Performance and Player Experience in an Endless Runner Game
No full textMusic is ubiquitous in our everyday lives and its tempo can affect our experience and behavior, be it in movies to emphasize a scene, during sports to increase the flow of a workout, or in games to complement the gameplay. While the impact of fixed beats per minute on the latter has already been investigated, we focus on the effect of continuously increasing or decreasing beats per minute of background music during gameplay in an endless runner game on player performance, perceived difficulty and player experience. In our within-subjects design study (n=32), participants played an endless runner game with continuously increasing, decreasing, or constant and no background music. While we found no significant effects in terms of player performance, our findings show that perceived stress, motivation and entertainment were affected by the different music conditions
From Points to Progression: A Scoping Review of Game Elements in Gamification Research with a Content Analysis of 280 Research Papers
No full textWe lack a shared and detailed understanding in gamification of what game elements are. To address this, we provide a scoping review of the last five years of gamification research, focusing primarily on how game elements have been applied and characterized. We retrieved the definitions of game elements from 280 research papers, conducted a content analysis, and identified their features. On the basis of this information, we provide responses regarding the frequently cited game elements, whether they are consistently characterized in the literature, and the frequently stated features of these elements. Our research has identified 15 game elements in the literature, with points, badges, and leaderboards being the most prevalent. As a first step toward clear definitions, we suggest a set of properties to characterize these game elements. The results of our review contribute to the formation of a consensus among gamification scholars about the application and definition of game elements
