An Examination of Hospitality Structure: Inquiring Analysis of Hotel Staff
Get PDFIn this study, we examined the hospitality structures and their development processes using hotel staff as research subjects. Two employees, each with approximately 20 years of experience at a Tokyo hotel, were interviewed using an inquiring analysis process. Specifically, interviews followed a semi-structured, free-response, five-on-one format involving four authors and one supervisor. Subsequently, interview transcript data were qualitatively analyzed. Results revealed that the hospitality goals of the hotel staff aligned with the concept of “hospitality = omotenashi.” However, the hospitality formation process varied based on individual experiences and workplace development, including transfer history. Despite the observed differences, the consistent formation of the hospitality concept suggested that it can be learned through information sharing, among other means, potentially guiding the direction of organizational hospitality practices.departmental bulletin pape
