Southern Africa development coordinating countries(sadcc), regional schemes of development and sub-imperialism in southern Africa, 1984
The study attempts to assess the potentials of SADCC set the goals of regional economic and political integration in Southern Africa. This is done by a rigorous evaluation of the objectives and structure of the region. In spite of SADCC's heavy dependency on South Africa's imports, the researcher was able to employ the Marxian historical materialism analysis that contends for the internal reorganization of the infrastructure inherited. Thus the researcher was in a position to show the current concrete economic and political problems confronting the region that undermine efforts to integrate. However, it is suggested that by taking control of developmental resources, establishment of one party under the dictatorship of the proletariat, increased inter-trade and improving Maputo port, SADCC can be in a position to achieve the goals
Synthesis and characterization of poly[oxy-trans-I,4-cyclohexyleneoxycarbon yl-trans-1,4-cyclohex ylenecar bon yl-co-ox y-trans-1, 4-cyclohexyleneoxysebacoylj, 1986
Random polyesters I, II, III and IV of poly[oxy-trans-l,4 cyclohexyleneoxycarbonyl-trans-1,4-cycl ohexylenecarbonyl-co-oxy-trans- 1,4-cylohexyleneoxysebacoyl], were prepared with trans-1,4-cyclohexaned carbonyl chloride and sebacoyl chloride ratios of 1:1, 3:2, 0.65:0.35 and 7:3, respectively, by step reaction polycondensation with trans-1,4- cyclohexanediol. The synthesized polyesters were characterized by IR and MR spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis, optical polarizing microscopy, viscometry and gel permeation chromatography. The random polymers and homopolymer, poly[oxy-trans-l,4-cyclohexyl eneoxy carbonyl -trans-1 -4-cycl ohexylenecarbonyl], are compared in terms of thermal stability, structure and liquid crystallinity
The effect of the increasing immigrant workers on the employment and wage of U.S. Native workers, 1999
This thesis is an empirical examination of the probable effects of a continued high rate of immigrants on the employment and wage rate of domestic workers. We constructed a model to estimate the impact that each additional immigrant has on the employment and income of the U. S. domestic workers. The objective of this thesis is to use an econometrics model to explain the effect of increased immigrants on cross section variations in employment and wages of domestic workers. All the results from this thesis point to the conclusion that moderately large inflow of immigrants does not pose serious economic threats to employment of natives

The effects of group treatment on male batterer's self-esteem and attitudes towards battering, 1992
The problem of men battering women is age old, but has only recently come to light due to the women's movement. Much of this new found attention has been focused on the victims of this violence, i.e., the women and their children, but it's becoming very apparent that before the plight of women can really be improved preventive and treatment measures must be utilized with the perpetrators, or the batterers. In the present study, the self-esteem and attitudes towards battering of five male batterers was assessed pre and post their participation in a group for batterers. The intervention with these men was psychoeducational in nature and consisted of assertiveness training, confrontation and anger management, time-outs, cognitive restructuring, and role-playing. In comparing pre and post test results no significant difference was found in either their attitudes towards battering or their level of self-esteem
