The Production of Audio-Visual Media Promoting Awareness of Adolescents in Conservation and Restoration of Kwan Phayao
The objectives of this study were: 1) to produce the audio-visual media promoting the awareness of adolescents in conservation and restoration of Kwan Phayao; 2) to develop the survey in measuring awareness of adolescents in conservation and restoration of Kwan Phayao; and 3) to assess the effectiveness in using the audio-visual media using the comparison between awareness of adolescents in conservation and restoration of Kwan Phayao prior and after the adoption of the audio-visual media. A sample was selected from three experts in audio-visual media production, three experts in the subject matter, and 392 students in the Bachelor’s degree program at the University of Phayao. The data was analyzed and exhibited using descriptive statistics including mean, standard deviation, and t-test. The results of the study were as follows: 1) the project’s audio-visual media was considered to be effective based on the overall assessment by the experts in the highest degree (x̄ = 4.51, S.D.= 0.42); 2) the project’s survey in measuring awareness of conservation and restoration of Kwan Phayao was deemed to be face validity with discrimination and reliability value of 0.793; and 3) the adolescents expressed the overall increase in awareness regarding the conservation and restoration after they watched the audio-visual media with statistical significance at 0.01 level. The overall effectiveness of the audio-visual media is in the highest degree and applicable.

Factors Predicting Length of Hospital Stay among Patients with Open-Heart Surgery
Factors predicting the length of hospital stay among patients with open-heart surgery, basic information for use in the planning of care for postoperative heart patients to have higher quality and efficiency. This study was descriptive research with a retrospective methodology aimed at studying the factors predicting length of hospital stay in open-heart surgery patients. The sample was composed of 214 open-heart surgery patients who were purposively sampled based on set inclusion criteria. Data were collected from medical records in 2015 – 2016. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation and multiple linear regression.
According to the findings, the variables correlated with length of hospital stay in open-heart surgery patients with statistical significance were age, diabetes mellitus, coronary artery bypass surgery, urgency of surgery and cardiopulmonary bypass time. The factors capable of predicting length of hospital stay in open-heart surgery patients were urgency of surgery (beta = .22), cardiopulmonary bypass time (beta = .19) and age (beta = .16). All of the factors were able to co-predict fluctuations in length of hospital stay among open-heart surgery patients at 15 percent (R2 = 0.15, F = 5.04, p < .001). Therefore, elderly open-heart surgery patients who went into surgery urgently and had long cardiopulmonary bypass time should have special care models or close monitoring of symptoms to help reduce length of hospital stay in this group of patients.

Bayesian Unit-Lindley Model: Applications to Gasoline Yield and Risk Assessment Data
The regression model for the response variable with bounded domain is discussed. The baseline distribution called the unit Lindley distribution is considered. In the context of regression structure, the logit function is utilized with the unit Lindley model. Then, we have developed the Bayesian unit Lindley regression based on a frequently used prior. Additionally, we also investigate the specific prior for all standardized exploratory variables. The syntax of JAGS for the proposed model is included. In application study, the Bayesian unit Lindley regression is applied to two different datasets where response variables are associated with gasoline yield and risk assessment respectively. Based on the result of estimates and log-likelihood values, it is important to point out that the Bayesian unit-Lindley regression can improve the performance of the classical one.

Tough Life after Prison: An Analysis of 19 Former Prisoners in Malaysia
Undeniably, some former prisoners have succeeded in reintegrating themselves back into society and have also ceased any further criminal activities. However, this journey is difficult for former prisoners, particularly when their families do not welcome their return or when they fail to secure a steady job. This study was conducted to understand the challenges and obstacles faced by former prisoners during reintegration process using protective factor as an indicator. A qualitative approach was adopted in this study, whereby 19 former prisoners were interviewed to enhance the understanding of this issue. Based on the findings obtained, it was revealed that only three respondents met the characteristics of a person who had successfully desisted from committing a crime. This finding proved that desistance from crime among former prisoners is challenging. Thus, the criminal justice system in Malaysia towards the reintegration of former prisoners should be improved accordingly to prevent any failure or potential issue for the betterment of former prisoners. The recommendation of this study is to introduce a community-based post-release program as a social intervention in Malaysia criminal justice system. The limitation of this study is in the discussion done only from the perspective of former prisoners. There is a need to conduct studies from the perspective of social workers, counsellors and volunteers in the NGOs involved in helping former prisoners throughout the process of reintegration.

Using the Interdisciplinary Approach to Enhance Students’ Intercultural Communication Competence in English Language Training Program
Establishing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) relationships between neighboring universities is not easy. With this uneasiness, there exists a need for a more mindful collaboration approach between different educational institutions in ASEAN. Therefore, this trial research project was created to establish better networking, resource development, joint research projects cooperation, expertise sharing, and student development. It aimed to investigate the effectiveness of interdisciplinary approach on students’ intercultural communication competence. The research participants were eight Lao teachers and twenty Lao students from a government college, Lao PDR. Data were collected using a set of questionnaires and video observation. Data from the questionnaire were analyzed for descriptive statistics. In terms of qualitative data, content analysis techniques were utilized. Findings revealed that the participants had positive attitudes towards the use of interdisciplinary approach and multilingualism to enhance their intercultural communication competence. It allowed them to have language switching and knowledge integration from different areas of disciplines for better understanding of different cultures. Findings also further suggest that developing student and teacher exchange projects along with joint research projects between educational institutes can help stimulate inter-tertiary dialoging, sharing resources and collaboration that may lead to more sustainable development between ASEAN countries.

Promoting Environment at Grassroots: Barangay Institutional Mapping of Solid Waste Management
This research aims to address the need for an effective local urban solid waste management framework. To accomplish this, it focused on the institutional networks that flow within and link out of the barangay (Philippine village) as the micro level of Local Government. The paper describes networked institutions as composed 3 variables adapted from Ostrom’s institutional analysis and development framework. These are 1) actors, 2) actions, and 3) lines of connections. It uses qualitative comparative method with a Most Different and Most Similar (MDSD) research design to analyze cases of network similarities between performing barangays, similarities between non-performing barangays, and differences across performing and non-performing. The locus is Metro Manila, capital of the Philippines, unique to be the location of barangays with increasing solid waste production, along with qualified models of solid waste management.
Analyses arrived at three significant findings: First, model barangays have clear relationships with institutional and non-institutional support from outside its solid waste management space. Second, model barangays have institutional implementing units complemented by non-institutional groups. Third, model barangay solid waste management is not simply about waste handling, but also network management. Finally, model barangays are composed of groups which are actors interlinked in a solid waste management network. Barangays are better able to implement grassroots solid waste management through a network with established lines within and outside their space. It is recommended that barangay officials need support and encourage the formation of social groups, and to link with them to achieve better results. This is facilitated through collaboration with between institutional and non-institutional groups.

DC and AC Circuit Parameters of Hybrid InAs/GaAs and GaSb/GaAs Quantum-Dot Solar Cells
We investigate DC and AC circuit parameters of hybrid quantum-dot (QD) solar cells consisted of self-assembled InAs/GaAs and GaSb/GaAs QDs. The hybrid QD solar cell samples are fabricated by stacking of one pair and three pairs of InAs/GaAs and GaSb/GaAs QD layers in molecular beam epitaxy. A measurement circuit has been used for both DC and AC parameter extraction. Numerical values of the parameters are extracted from the fittings of experimentally measured current-voltage characteristics and frequency responses of the samples under controlled bias condition. The fitting functions are derived from the considered equivalent circuit models. Extracted series and shunt resistance values can be related to the sample structure. For the AC characteristics, a low shunt resistance and a high capacitance of three-pair hybrid QD solar cell are observed. We attribute the latter to the high number density of buried QDs in the sample. These findings shed light on the relationship between electrical characteristic of QD devices and their structure.

Assessment of Genetic Diversity among Musa Cultivars based on Sequence-Related Amplified Polymorphism Technique
Bananas are one of the world’s most eatable fruits. Edible bananas belonging to the Eumusa section are believed to contain genomes from two wild diploid species, Musa acuminata Colla (A genome) and M. balbisiana Colla (B genome). Almost cultivated bananas are diploid, triploid or tetraploid and classified into different genome groups according to several morphological characteristics. ‘Kluai Namwa Mali-Ong’ is the most suitable use as a raw material for the sun-dried banana production in Bangkratum District, Phitsanulok Province, Thailand. The varietal identification among hybrid bananas is difficult due to there is a small difference in morphological characters and local names of bananas based on fruit traits results in abundant synonyms of banana cultivars. Therefore, it is essential for choosing the correct banana cultivars for marketing and gaining understanding of banana breeding using biotechnology approaches. The study aimed to assess the genetic diversity among Musa (ABB group) ‘Kluai Namwa’ cultivars and two outgroup taxa (AA/AAA and BB groups) with DNA markers. Based on ten sequence-related amplified polymorphism (SRAP) markers, a total of 80 DNA bandings were scored, of which 74 were polymorphic (92.50%). Polymorphic information content (PIC) values ranged from 0.16 to 0.30 with an average 0.25. The bands size ranged from 100 to 1200 base pairs. An unweighted pair group method arithmetic average (UPGMA) analysis based on Dice coefficients demonstrated that the accessions had a similarity range from 0.42 to 1.00 with a mean of 0.86 which suggested extreme genetic diversity among Musa samples. However, the low genetic diversity was found among 12 Musa (ABB group) ‘Kluai Namwa’ samples. In the present study, dendrogram derived from ten SRAP markers showed that all samples could be categorized into two major groups (ABB-BB and AA/AAA genome groups). The results based on SRAP markers in this study could be useful for germplasm collection and banana breeding in the future.
