    Improvement in Modified Least Squares Estimation for Fitting a Sinusoidal Regression Model with AR (1) Error

            Sinusoidal functions are widely used in many areas, such as physics, engineering, and gene expression to describe correlated data along with time. A sinusoidal model with correlated error is fitted using a modified two-stage least squares method by modifying the weight matrix of the correlation coefficient based on residuals from the one-way ANOVA model proposed by Pukdee, Polsen, and Baksh (2020). By using that modification, a conditional least squares model with the AR (1) error is modified and proposed as an alternative method. A Monte Caro simulation study is made of an effect of error mis-specifications and this finding might be beneficial for some applications.     Synthesis, characterization and DNA binding study of silver(I) complexes with 2'-thiazolylazo aminoanisole compounds (TAAA)

            Bioinorganic chemistry has been attracted for many years on the biological studies of transition metal complexes, including those based on the silver(I) ion. Since azo compounds have significant biological activity, the development of new silver(I) complexes with such compounds might be of interest. Azo dyes 2-(2'-thiazolylazo)-5-aminoanisole (p-TAAA) and 4-(2'-thiazolylazo)-3-aminoanisole (o-TAAA) and their silver(I) complexes; [Ag-(p-TAAA)] and [Ag-(o-TAAA)] have been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, mass spectrometry, IR spectroscopy, 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy. The results reveal structures of the synthesized complexes in which silver(I) ion have bound to two molecules of 2'-thiazolylazo aminoanisole compounds with nitrogen of azo group and sulfur of thiazole ring as donor atoms. The biological activity of such complexes was examined using calf thymus DNA (CT-DNA). The mode of DNA binding interaction was investigated by electronic absorption titration. The results indicate that the synthesized silver(I) complexes bind to CT-DNA via intercalative mode of binding with binding constants of 1.44 x 105 M-1 for [Ag-(p-TAAA)] and 9.77 x 104 M-1 for [Ag-(o-TAAA)], respectively.   Keywords: Thiazolylazo, Silver(I) complexes, DNA binding, Electronic absorption titration, Binding constants (Kb

    Financial Evaluation by the Combined AHP-PROMETHEE Method: A Case Study of Integrated Logistics Service Providers in Thailand

         In relation to core competence, cost reduction and improvement of customer satisfaction, an outsourcing has noticeably become a crucial strategy to cope with those of numerous firms. Logistics services (such as management of inventory and transport) have been emerged as one of the outsourcing activities, which a logistics service provider performs its logistics capability to fulfill operations of any firm tied up with the complex networks of supply chain. In this case, the financial performance of integrated logistics service providers located in Thailand were compared through the notion of multi-criteria decision making (MCDM). Therefore, the combined AHP-PROMETHEE method was proposed in this study. AHP was utilized to determine weights of four criteria and 15 sub-criteria based directly on financial ratios, while PROMETHEE was employed to evaluate and rank four pre-determined alternatives of integrated logistics service provider from the best to worst one on financial ability. As a consequence, an outcome shows that III is viewed as the best organization among others for manipulating on the whole finance efficiently. Ultimately, this is a benchmark for other firms to improve their financial performance, and investors can manipulate this method as a tool to carefully invest in the stock market.     Virtual Reality Technology for Learning the Process of Organic Rice Cultivation

            Organic rice cultivation is a process that requires skilled personnel. Therefore, those who have begun to study must learn from those who have direct experience through training. However, with the problem of organizing training requires a lot of location and operating costs; the idea is to apply Virtual Reality technology that helps to create a learning environment to solve problems. The objective of this research is the following: 1) develop virtual reality technology on learning to plant organic rice 2) study the users’ satisfaction of the virtual reality technology system. In which the study population was farmers in Surin Province. A sample of 400 people was used by the convenient sampling method. The research tools included 1) virtual reality technology on learning about organic rice cultivation 2) satisfaction questionnaire. The statistics used in this research were mean and standard deviation. The tools were tested with sample group in conjunction with agricultural training and published through social media by collecting research data during August - September 2020. The result of research showed that 1) to be able to develop Virtual Reality technology in the form of a video that can be viewed in 360 degrees by distributing through social media via mobile applications and websites. The content shows the process of growing organic rice which consists of a total of 11 scenes. 2) The result of the satisfaction assessment showed that the samples were able to access the information easily and quickly, easier to understand the process of planting organic rice and apply the knowledge into practice by oneself. The overall satisfaction assessment results were standard deviation was 0.13 and the mean was 4.34 which can be implied to be at the high level.     Effects of Explants on Plant Regeneration and Concentration of Paclobutrazol on Morphological Responses of Dwarf Water Hyssop (Bacopa monnieri)

    Water hyssop is an ornamental aquatic plant which is very popular among aquarium hobbyists. The present study reports on the effect of PBZ concentration on water hyssop to produce dwarf aquatic plants. The different types of explant were cultured on MS medium supplemented with 0.5 mg/L BA for shoot and root induction. The single nodal was cut and cultured on MS supplemented with various PBZ concentrations to produce the dwarf ornamental aquatic plant. The results showed that shoot induction started within 2 weeks and the maximum average number of shoots received from the node with leaf explant was 12.11 shoots after 4 weeks of culturing. The highest concentration at 40 mg/L of PBZ retarded stems, number of leaves, number of roots, root length, and the survival rate declined within 2 weeks of culturing. Only 2.5 mg/ L PBZ stimulated shoot induction at 51. 85%, but 20 mg/ L of PBZ the percentage of shoot induction of 48.15 was obtained. Shoot length did not increase after treating with 40 mg/ L of PBZ and also resulted in the lowest average number of leaves of 1.25 leaves. The maximum concentration of PBZ caused toxic reactions, such as yellowing, stunted leaves, short roots, and death of in vitro cultures. The shoot length decreased with increasing concentrations of PBZ. Thus, at 2.5 mg/ L of PBZ was suitable for producing dwarf water hyssop plant with the maximum shoot length, maximum number of leave and longest root. Finally, the dwarf plantlets were acclimatized successfully to 4 weeks in aquarium conditions

    Factors Affecting the Success of Community-Based Tourism (CBT) in Homestay Form

         Homestay is one of the government tourism policy for community to operate and promote the strength of a community and generate additional income. Not all communities are succeed. Thus, this study attempt to determine which factors affecting the success of homestay operating. The objectives of this article are to analyze the management of homestay, to identify the behavior of consumer, and to determine the factors affecting the success of homestay. The analysis is based on the theory of sustainable tourism management and uses the Homestay Standard Thailand Assessment Principles of the Department of Tourism as the frame of reference. The primary information was obtained by interviewing leaders and representatives of all 123 homestays that applied for the assessment and certification of the Homestay Standard Thailand in 2017–2018. The analysis is performed upon the results of descriptive statistics and mean analysis using t-test.      The results show that the community-run homestay businesses in Thailand of 123 homestays mostly have been in operation for more than 3 years and they are located in 50 provinces with a total of 895 homestay units capable of accommodating 8,832 tourists per day. Thai tourists averagely 215,327 in number each year stay overnight at homestays, generating a total of 24,617,140 baht of local income. Most of them come in a group (5 or more persons) and their main travel objective is to get an understanding about the community way of life or to participate in the tourism/cultural activities/events organized in the community. As for foreign tourists, 51,947 in total number each year spend the overnight stay the certified homestays, generating 7,354,126 baht of local income. Most of them are traveling alone or with an acquaintance/family to learn about culture, traditions, ways of life, and wisdom.      The success of homestay depend on: (1) the good homestay management and arrangement, apart from the homestay having been in this business for a long time, in terms of adequate accommodation units, the serving of local foods and dishes, a standard security system in place, friendliness of the host and his/her family members, and the availability of interesting organized tours, which have led to an increase in the number of lodgings in this community enterprise; (2) the arrangement of learning activities, performing arts and cultural shows, and story-telling through various interesting forms of presentation, which have attracted more tourists to visit the community; and (3) the reasonable price for tourism and homestay services, for example, an averagely 747 baht per person for one overnight stay, three meals, and attending the learning activities, considered worthwhile for tourists’ traveling to visit the community. The key factors contributing to the highly successful homestays are the more of accommodation units which means they have a good management in operations, the variety of tourist attractions, and the high number of tourists staying which means the popularity of that homestay.
