    No full text

Role of water on attenuating HZSM-5 zeolite catalyst deactivation in low-pressure ethylene oligomerization

This work focuses on the in-line low-pressure oligomerization of ethylene coming from sustainable sources (i.e. biomass, wastes or CO2), where the presence of water in the reaction medium will play a key role. The experiments were performed in a fixed-bed reactor under the following operating conditions: 275–375 °C; 1.5 bar; space time, 5.4 gcatalyst h molC-1; ethylene flow rate of 37 cm3 min−1 containing 10 vol% of H2O; time on stream, 5 h. Temperature was found to play an important role on product distribution and on the extent and nature of coke deposition. At low temperature (275 °C), water strongly competed with ethylene for Brönsted acid sites, suppressing oligomer condensation and thus, reducing total coke content. At intermediate temperature (325 °C), water favored hydrogen transfer and aromatization reactions to some extent, leading to a decrease in soft/hard coke distribution without altering the overall coke content. At high temperature (375 °C), although competitive adsorption of water was less pronounced, the moderation of strong acid sites suppressed aromatization (limiting the formation of hydrocarbons up to C7). These results suggest the interest in co-feeding H2O with the aim of controlling the product distribution and coke deactivation, showing promising prospects for process scale-up.This work was carried out with the following financial support of: (i) the grant PID2022–140584OB-I00 funded by MICIU/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 and by ERDF/EU; (ii) this project has also received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme (HORIZON-MSCA- 2023-SE-01), Proyect ID: 101182827; and iii) the Basque Government (grant IT1645–22)

Published online on 5th December, 2025.Readers of deep orthographies tend to rely on larger grain sizes than readers of shallow orthographies, and bilinguals’ grain sizes may reflect both languages. This study examined grain-size use in adult bilinguals’ novel written word learning in their first (L1) and second (L2) languages across two experiments. This work was supported by the Spanish State Research Agency [BCBL Severo Ochoa excellence accreditation CEX2020-001010/AEI/10.13039/501100011033]; the European Research Council (ERC) under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program [Grant Agreement No 819093 to CDM]; the Spanish State Research Agency [PID2023-148756NB-I00 to CDM]; the Basque Government [BERC 2022–2025 program]

Hacia un análisis de las subtramas amorosas y de los personajes femeninos en las obras hagiográficas de Lope de Vega

    No full text

Move, Rove, Love: Color Cues Help Learning Novel English Words When Pronunciation Is Not Predictable From Spelling

    No full text
First published on 7th March, 2025.Seeing written forms of novel words during learning can help memorize vocabulary, but it may alter pronunciation, especially when orthography is opaque like in English. This study investigated whether a color-code helps participants learn novel words with unpredictable pronunciation. Sixty Spanish speakers learned 16 English-like pseudowords in one of three training conditions. Audio group learned training items with the auditory word form only. Two other groups learned items with auditory and written forms, with a color-code (ColorCode group) or with random colors (RandColor group). Elicited speech samples from each group were assessed for recall and pronunciation accuracy. ColorCode group outperformed other groups on pronunciation in posttest tasks including reading training items in black text, and reading color-coded untrained items. Color-code benefits even strengthened one week later. These findings indicate that a color-code can support pronunciation learning in languages with opaque orthography and should be more systematically implemented in learning resources. This research was supported by the Basque Government through the BERC 2022–2025 program and by the Spanish State Research Agency through BCBL Severo Ochoa excellence accreditation CEX2020-001010/AEI/10.13039/501100011033. Model linking for low-carbon transitions: Technical and conceptual challenges and best practices

Linking existing models to extend energy system and integrated assessment analysis is an increasingly common practice. Despite this, and unlike in the field of environmental and earth sciences, little attention has so far been paid to the details of it, to the trade-offs involved and the way in which the model linking affects the interpretation of the outcomes of the interlinked model system. Our aim in this paper is to first focus on a set of key technical and methodological problems that are common in model linking and suggest how these could be approached in different model linking contexts. We then further explore how model linking may affect the nature of the knowledge produced, and how this should be considered in the model linking process. Reflecting our literature driven assessment of the issues and possible solutions, we compile “a check list” to assist in the process of decision making for model linking. This research is funded by the Horizon Europe European Commission Project ‘IAM COMPACT’ (grant no. 101056306). Ariketa fisikoa erditze ostean: programa egoki baterako gidalerroak.

50 p. – Bibliogr.: p. 37-44[EUS] Lan honek ariketa fisikoaren garrantzia aztertzen du erditze osteko emakumeen errekuperazioan, ikuspegi integratzaile batetik. Erditze ostea emakumearentzat etapa konplexu bat da; izan ere, aldaketa fisiologiko, hormonal, anatomiko, egitural, eta emozional ugari jasaten ditu. Sarritan, amaren rola lehenetsi eta euren ongizatea bigarren planoan geratzen da, haien ongizate fisiko eta mentalari beharrezko arreta eman gabe, errekuperazio kaxkar bat izatera eraman dezakeena. Ikusi da ariketa fisikoak gorputzaren errekuperazioaz gain gogo aldartean eta autoestimuan eragin positiboa duela, osasun mentalean eragiten duten gaixotasunak prebenituz, hala nola erditze osteko depresioa. Gainera, ariketa fisikoaren bidez emakumeen ahalduntzea sustatzen da: gorputzarekiko harreman positiboa berreskuratzen dute, euren autonomia eta autoestimua indartuz. Taldean entrenatzeko aukera ere kontuan hartzen da, gizarte-babesa sendotzeko eta bakardadea murrizteko. Hori kontuan hartuta, lan honek ariketa fisiko egoki eta pertsonalizatu baten bidezko errekuperazioa bultzatu nahi du, emakumea bere gorputzaren jabe bihurtu eta osasuntsu egoteko. Horretarako, emakume baten profila aurkezten da, target espezifiko horretarako gidalerro batzuk sortuz. Programaren oinarria emakume bakoitzaren egoera ezagutzea denez ondoren bere beharretara egokitzeko, galdetegi eta proba ezberdinen bidez balorazio zehatz bat egin zaio, horren arabera faseka antolatutako entrenamendu progresiboak diseinatzeko. Proposatutako hiru faseetan zehar indarra (zoru pelbikoaren lanketa, COREa...), erresistentzia (HIIT eta LIIT) eta oreka (estatiko zein dinamikoa) modu seguruan eta egokian lantzen dira, gorputz funtzional eta osasuntsua berreskuratzeko. Horretarako FITT-PV printzipioan oinarritutako entrenamenduak proposatzen dira, atal bakoitzean nola lan egin behar den azalduz. Lan honek, beraz, ariketa fisikoa tresna gisa aurkezten du, emakumeen bizi-kalitatea, ongizate fisikoa eta emozionala modu integralean hobetzeko

Carbon budgets and climate footprints: the case of the Swedish forest-based economy

    No full text
This study develops a novel, national-accounts-consistent framework that couples monetary and physical supply-use with input–output tables and multiregional input–output analysis to track biogenic carbon and fossil GHGs in Sweden’s forest-based economy. It yields integrated production- and consumption-based balances that reconcile forest carbon stock change with wood-based products stocks and supply-chain fossil GHG emissions. Sweden’s forest-based economy achieved average net emission removal of 92 Mt CO2e yr−1 from 2008 to 2021, though with a declining trend. The forest carbon sink weakened by 25 Mt CO2e, partly offset by increased storage in wood products, 8 Mt CO2e from domestic harvest and 3 Mt CO2e from imports, while wood energy use remained stable at 40 Mt CO2e yr−1. On average, 54% of net carbon storage occurred in forests and 46% in downstream economic activities, with a shift toward the latter over time. Augmenting national accounts with physical and international trade flows delivers a transparent, system-wide accounting of biogenic and fossil GHG emissions across complex supply chains that supports policy on bioeconomy performance and climate footprints, transferable to other countries and impact categories. © The Author(s) 2026.We acknowledge NordForsk and Formas for funding ‘Green forests policies: a comparative assessment of outcomes and trade-offs across Fenno-Scandinavia’ (GreenPole, number 103443), and Nordic Forest Research SNS for funding the project ‘Transdisciplinary co-production in forest policy research’ (ForPol, number SNS-128). Association-rule Mining for Targeted Digital Engagement of Museum Visitors: Cultural Insights from Visitor Behavior.

    No full text
The key to digital museology and the future of cultural communication is the understanding of visitor behavior. With the transformation of museums as a fixed space of exhibition to an experience of a cultural ecosystem, museums should strike a balance between educational missions and operational survivability. The paper examines the impact of data-based insights on improving audience engagement, the sale of cultural products, and customization by targeting the audience of super visitors, high-frequency, and high-engagement visitors whose actions have an unlawful effect on the museum results. With the help of the data provided by the behavioral and transactional activities of one of the largest metropolitan museums, the study incorporates digital tracking and purchase history as well as mobile interactions in order to determine the patterns connecting visitor interests and product preferences. These observations show that the engagement in such events as exhibitions, augmented reality, and special events is correlated with the interest in books, replicas, and digital media. The results prove that periods of high engagement, including weekends and special situations enhance visitor-product associations, which give a chance to implement individualized digital communication and merchandising initiatives. Using the prism of digital cultural communication to apply behavioral data, this study demonstrates how museums can use data in an ethical, creative way in order to create meaningful, personal, and socially valuable visitor experience in the digital age
