Cognitive, sociocognitive and sociocultural theories of written speech as well as approaches of literacy support teachers and students-authors in the writing process by providing them a combinational model for the production of written speech based on their basic common theoretical principles one of which is cooperative learning/writing.The purpose of the present study is to investigate the effect of cooperative writing on the acquisition of metacognition and on the quality of written speech of C grade students-authors through the design, the implementation and the evaluation of an intervention program with visual-verbal and social-procedural facilities to students, either having writing disabilities or not. Three 3rd grade groups took part in the study. Two of the groups were members of the experimental group and the third was the control group. The results of our research showed beneficial effects of the cooperative writing in the frame of the intervention program on the metacognitive knowledge and skills of students-authors and on the quality of their written speech
In recent years, there is an intense discussion regarding the impact of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) on students’ academic performance. This scientific paper presents the design, application and assessment of an educational intervention aiming to evaluate the contribution of the use of Google Earth to elementary school students’ (6th Grade) academic achievement in Geography and Social and Political Education. The exploration of this relationship was based on a quasi-experimental research project having a control and an experimental group. The teaching treatment of the control group was based on conventional approaches, while Google Earth was used as intervention for the experimental group. The results revealed that the use of Google Earth had a positive impact on students’ learning

The Athens Municipal Theatre: the first adverse years of a Syngros benefaction
THE present article deals with the first years of operation of the Athens Municipal Theatre, which was designed in 1886-1887 by E. Ziller, grandly inaugurated in 1888 and demolished in 1940-41 by K. Kotzias. It was the first monumental theatre house of modern Athens, funded by the so-called “national benefactor” Andreas Syngros. The acquisition of a national theatrical scene had been the insistent demand and ardent desire of the new Athenian bourgeoisie already since King Otto’s times. Athens, in order to stand on a par with any other European capital, required its own civil architectural jewel, a monumental theatrical building, which would constitute the meeting place of high society and would testify to the new europeanised face of the Modern Greek state. The Athenian municipality and its art-loving citizens dreamed of a majestic theatre, whose scene would host brilliant performances of modern repertoire – mainly Italian and French opera and operetta – as well as choice samples of the Modern Greek opera and drama production. It was with great gratitude, therefore, that the Athenian public received the news of the rich Andreas Syngros’ decision to assume the construction costs of the municipal theatre. However, this apparently generous benefaction seems to have benefited the benefactor himself more than anyone else: A. Syngros presented the municipality of Athens with a dysfunctional, extremely costly and lucrative for himself only enterprise. Furthermore, the edifice in its final form, being very far removed from Ziller’s initial architectural plans, due to Syngros’ consecutive economic cuts, was nothing more than a cheap and faulty construction, which failed to meet even the basic specifications of a theatre, let alone the most elementary safety standards. The present research, based on material from primary sources of the period, attempts to investigate the causes of the adversity that doomed the Athens Municipal theatre during its short lifespan, from its foundation to its inglorious demolition. Among the string of bitter events which form its history, the investigation focuses on the first, not-so-well known years of its turbulent operation, which are marked by the ambiguous role of Andreas Syngros.THE present article deals with the first years of operation of the Athens Municipal Theatre, which was designed in 1886-1887 by E. Οι Απόψεις των Εκπαιδευτικών Φροντιστηρίων Μέσης Εκπαίδευσης για την Επιμόρφωσή τους
Through average qualitative research, which was held on May-June 2015, the views of teachers of secondary school as far as their education were attempted to record. For this purpose the research tool of interview was used in order to investigate the training needs of teachers. The investigation showed that training programs are in general absent as concern the tutors of Private Tuition Education Centres, despite the fact that teachers consider their training compulsory. The detection of the content of the training needs shows that teachers converge on the need for training on issues related to teaching techniques, the reclamation of new technologies and communication. Moreover the respondents consider quite important that a training program should take into account the specific training needs of tutorials. Finally, tutors have the highest preference in small-scale training programs, were rapporteurs are experienced teachers and specialist scientists and main organizing body the Federation of Educational Tutors Greece. The results of this survey can be used to design future training programs that will meet the needs of teachers of Private Tuition Education Centres
The article aims at demonstrating the role of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in the development of students’ multiple types of intelligence. Firstly, the article presents the basic assumptions of Howard Gardner’s theory. It also focuses on highlighting the opportunities offered by ICT to provide personalized, differentiated learning, which can meet and contribute to the development of each student’s special intelligence profile. It specifically underlines the use of multimedia in multiple representations of a subject’s content as a way to make it accessible to groups of students with different intelligence profiles. Finally, references are made to the possibilities offered by Learning Management Systems. More specifically, Moodle has been used as the basis on which a teaching proposal about Homer’s Odyssey has been developed and presented in detail. This Moodle-based method of teaching Homer could be used to strengthen students’ multiple intelligence types. The article aims at demonstrating the role of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in the development of students’ multiple types of intelligence. Primary intersubjectivity: Accessed gradually or present in early infancy?
There has been a strong debate among developmental psychologists concerning the emergence of self in infancy, the ability to differentiate between self and other and the time when infants understand that ‘me’ and the other make two different human beings. Classical psychoanalytic theory, postulates that during the early phases of infant mental development there is no internal, external differentiation. On the basis of recent infant observational studies C. Trevarthen and D. Stern propose that infants have a primary intersubjectivity that develops as an adaptation for social life before birth, and there is no initial psychic undifferentiation as psychoanalysts believe. Considering these two opposite views, Bernard Golse psychiatrist, psychoanalyst offers a third alternative of infant psychic development. This proposes that intersubjectivity is created in a dynamic way between moments of transient intersubjectivity and moments of undifferentiation until intersubjectivity is stabilized.
