Phytosociological data of 11 Cytisus scoparius scrub community sites near the species' historical range limit in central Poland

No full text
This study investigates the recent dynamics of Cytisus scoparius, a species native to western and central Europe. Its historical range limit extended through central and eastern Poland a century ago. The species had a dwarf-shrub habit, was moderately rare and grew mainly in forest edges due to damage from heavy frosts. Recently, it has been considered invasive in many parts of the world. In Europe, its native range extends to the east, and this process is considered a good indicator of climate change. The study was located in central Poland, which is in close vicinity to the historical range limit of the species. We conducted the fieldwork in 2022 and 2025, south of and southwest of Warsaw, within 11 sites of C. scoparius formations.A total of 30 phytosociological relevés were taken. The mean and maximum heights of brooms in the vegetation plots were measured. The data were ordinated with selected vegetation traits as passive variables in order to help understand the vegetation changes between the two surveys. The studied patches of C. scoparius formations were well-developed and vital. The height of the specimens of C. scoparius has not decreased. The stand initiation, stem exclusion (intermediate), and senescent, successional stages were documented. The terminal stage of the scrub formation was additionally distinguished within two sites. Some of the patches suffered heavy disturbance, which is essential for the reestablishment and thriving of the C. scoparius scrub. In addition, a quick spread into adjacent areas in other areas was also observed. The E67 (S8) expressway probably serves as a local corridor for the species. The study highlights the probability of the present absence of climatic limitations for the species' scrub formation dynamics in the studied area, despite its location close to its historical range limit.</p

Lipoxygenase and xanthine oxidase inhibition and antioxidant potential of fractions obtained by multi-step extraction of Artist's bracket and Red-belted bracket

No full text
Oxidative stress and inflammation play key roles in the development of many diseases. This study evaluated the potential of bioactive compounds derived from Red-belted Bracket and Artist’s Bracket mushrooms to mitigate these processes. Specifically, the study aimed to assess the antioxidant properties of mushroom extracts obtained using a multi-step extraction method, as well as their effects on the activity of pro-inflammatory enzymes, lipoxygenase (LOX) and xanthine oxidase (XO). Particular emphasis was placed on elucidating the underlying mechanisms of action and the kinetics of enzyme inhibition. Stres oksydacyjny i stan zapalny odgrywają kluczową rolę w rozwoju wielu chorób.

Results of the GPR research in the gardens of the Potocki Palace in Radzyn Podlaski and of the Zamoyski Palace in Klemensow (Poland).

Results of the GPR (Ground-penetrating radar) research in the gardens of the Potocki Palace in Radzyń Podlaski and Zamoyski Palace in Klemensów (Poland). The geophysical research took place in the area of previous baroque formal garden (behind the palace) on an area of 4950 m2 (Radzyń Podlaski) and 2730 m2 (Klemensów). The research was carried out using a multi-channel 3D ground-penetrating radar - Stream C by IDS. This is a ground-penetrating radar with 34 measuring antennas (32 recording channels per 1 m width) with a maximum depth range of up to 3 m below ground level. The indicated area was scanned with unit scans every 4 cm, and thanks to the double polarization of the antennas, a longitudinal and transverse scanning effect with a resolution of 4 cm in two directions was achieved. The measurements were positioned using GNSS RTK (Global Navigation Satellite System, Real-Time Kinematic) technology with corrections from the reference network. Horizontal cross-sections, depth cross-sections from VV and HH antenna polarisation, cut every 5 cm.</p

W zbiorze oprócz termogramów (nazwa pliku opisuje stan dokręcenia szynoprzewodu i wymiary przekroju) umieszczono pliki, które umożliwiają przeprowadzenie symulacji w Solidworks. </p

Population genetics of saproxylic beetle assemblages in protected and managed forests

No full text
This dataset contains filtered single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) datasets derived from raw data generated using double-digest RAD sequencing (ddRAD-seq) for multiple saproxylic beetle species sampled across Central European forests. Data are provided as species-specific Variant Call Format (VCF) files, which can be opened and inspected using standard genomic software such as VCFtools, bcftools, and PLINK, and visualised using tools such as IGV.The SNP datasets were generated through the Stacks pipeline and subsequently filtered for downstream population genetic analyses. The VCF files were used for analyses including population structure, genetic diversity, and differentiation, using commonly applied software such as PLINK, vcftools, and R packages (e.g. adegenet, vcfR).Associated metadata include species identity, forest, sampling sites, geographic coordinates of sites, and information on forest management type for each site. The dataset is made publicly available to ensure transparency, reproducibility, and long-term accessibility of the analyses, and to allow reuse of the SNP data in future population genomic and conservation studies.</p

The aim of the study was to analyze the mRNA and protein expression of sirtuin 6 (SIRT6) in the endometrium during early pregnancy (days 10 to 30) in pigs. Moreover, we used porcine endometrial explants and/or luminal epithelial cells to examine the possible regulation of SIRT6 expression by conceptus products and progesterone, and to determine the effect of SIRT6 on prostaglandin E2 synthesis, apoptotic markers, proliferation, cell cycle progression, and cell adhesion.</p
