No full textThe continent hides its truths. Hardly anyone accepts being Indian-Afro-Mestizo-American. Each person can tell their story. In my case, I have been poorly educated in a Chilean society corroded by racism, which hides what is mestizo and indigenous; I found the outside fascinating and our interiority of little value. It\u27s been hard for me to change. Contact with indigenous peoples in Peru has opened my eyes. Now I aspire to collaborate on the path of reconciliation. It seems very important to me what was previously accidental. I am convinced that if the indigenous/mestizo origins are accepted, then we will have a good future in our continent.El continente esconde sus verdades. Casi nadie asume el ser indo-afro-mestizo-americano. Cada persona puede relatar su trayectoria. En mi caso, he sido mal educado en la sociedad chilena corroída por el racismo, que oculta lo mestizo e indígena; me parecía fascinante lo de afuera y poco valiosa nuestra interioridad. No full textEn muchas ocasiones, al mencionar el departamento de Puno, se lo relaciona con la pobreza, situaciones de abandono y desastres, como el problema de la sequía, como reza el título de un artículo escrito por Fernando Paredes en 1983, a consecuencia de la grave sequía que asoló la región altiplánica. Puno, departamento ubicado al extremo suroeste del país, ostenta, sin embargo, el título de capital folclórica de América, y cuenta con importantes fuentes de recursos naturales, con riquezas culturales y una población rural muy trabajadora, por lo cual no debería estar en esa situación de abandono. Hasta en sus calamidades es grandiosa la meseta... De pronto toda la naturaleza se nuble, el rayo surge seguido del retumbante trueno. Todo tiembla de espanto... Hoy día, en nuestro mundo, nos vamos dando cuenta cada vez con mayor profundidad lo que significa ser de esa clase de gente que abunda en todo el mundo, y lo que significa ese encierro que hace difícil -aunque no imposible- salir. Pobreza y muerte son términos muy cercanos, pobreza y falta de derechos humanos son casi términos hermanos, pobreza e injusticia son temas muy afines.When we talk about poverty, we are touching on an old topic, as old as our history and that bores some, except, of course, the poor. Today, in our world, we are realizing more and more deeply what it means to be of that kind of people that abounds throughout the world, and what that confinement means that makes it difficult -although not impossible- to leave. One of them, unfortunately seldom highlighted, is the history of the conquest of rights and citizenship, not only for them, but for the whole of Peruvian society. Particularly tortuous was the process of conquest of rights in rural Andean societies. Not in vain did they act in scenarios that were the \u27strategic reserve\u27 of domination and exclusion.A lo largo del siglo XX, las organizaciones sociales peruanas han sido protagonistas de varias historias.
