The Aymara rite of the "office"
No full textIn the present work we intend to document an Aymara ritual ceremony, called "despacho". For this purpose we will proceed first to present the corresponding ethnography and then we will analyze the symbols and the ritual ceremony, using the following terms as synonyms: "table", "payment", "offering", "office", "alcansu", and "pagapu". ". It is also necessary to clarify that we have used a series of Kechua-Aymara terms whose meanings we do not explain because we understand that they are widely known and used in the anthropological literature of the Andean area.En el presente trabajo pretendemos documentar una ceremonial ritual aymara, denominada "despacho". Para este efecto procederemos primero a presentar la etnografía correspondiente y luego analizaremos los símbolos y la ceremonia ritual, utlizando como sinónims los siguientes términos: "mesa", "pago", "ofrenda", "despacho", "alcansu", y "pagapu". Es necesario también aclarar que hemos utlizado una serie de términos kechua-aymaras cuyos significados no explicitamos porque entendemos que son ampliamente conocidos y utilizados en la literatura antropológica del área andina

No full textIn its almost ten years of existence, ALLPANCHIS PHUTURINQA devoted numerous ethnographic studies to Andean rites and rituals. Today he dedicates another edition to them in order to underline some ignored or less studied aspects of the issue. In this sense, the pages that we consecrate to the ethnohistory and to the survival of certain Inca rites beyond the movement of "extirpation of idolatry" should be read. In the same way, we want to insist on the urgent need to face the Andean reality starting from its own history and not only from some more or less abstract, more or less theoretical notion, however legitimate it may be. We cannot fully understand the Andean rites and rituals if we separate them from the global context where they were born, from the reasons that make them endure and even from the reasons that decreed their extinction.En sus casi diez años de existencia ALLPANCHIS PHUTURINQA consagró muchos numerosos estudios etnográficos a los ritos y rituales andnos. Hoy les dedica otra edición a fin de subrayar algunos aspectos ignorados o menos estudiados de la cuestión. En ese sentido deben ser leídas las páginas que consagramos a la etnohistoria y a la sobrevivencia de ciertos ritos incaicos más allá del movimiento de "extirpación de la idolatrías". De la misma manera, queremos insistir sobre la necesidad urgente de encarar la realidad andina partiendo de su propia historia y no únicamente de alguna noción más o menos abstracta, más o menos teórica, por legítima que sea. No podemos comprender cabalmente los ritos y rituales andinos si los separamos del contexto global donde ellos nacieron, de las razones que los hacen perdurar y hasta de los motivos que decretaron su extinción

No full textThe community of Wirabamba (Cotabambas, Apurímac) is at 3,856 m. above sea level and its inhabitants practice a mixed agricultural and livestock economy. They are dedicated to the cultivation of bitter potatoes to produce chuño and, to a lesser extent, moraya, products that they barter for corn, wheat, and barley with those of the qheswa; or to sell or barter with the llama vendors for salt or chili. This product is basic for their economy because they always have it at their disposal, either for sale, barter or to obtain other basic products for their subsistence. They also plant for their own consumption: olluco, quinoa and ocas.La comunidad de Wirabamba (Cotabambas, Apurímac) está a 3,856 m. sobre el nivel del mar y sus habitantes practican una economía mixta agrícola y ganadera. Se dedican al cultivo de papa amarga para elaborar chuño y en menor cantidad moraya, productos que truecan por maíz, trigo, y cebada con los de la qheswa; o para vender o trocar con los llameros por sal o ají. No full textEn Antabamba y Aymaraes, cuando llega la época de los viaje a partir de Pascua (marzo-abril), los pastores realizan primero la ceremonia previa de la t\u27inka de las llamas viajeras u orqo llamkuna. En esta ceremonia del orqo llama t\u27inka, un día antes del viaje, el pastor ofrece alcanzo a cada apu, es decir, da ofrendas a todos los apu importantes que se encuentran a lo largo del camino por donde ha de viajar, hasta llegar al pueblo al que se dirige. En esta ceremonia, suplican con todo fervor religioso a los apukuna, que no les suceda nada malo durante el viaje, que las llamas no se pierdan, no se cansen ni mueran, que el "llamero" tampoco se enferme, en fin, todo lo negativo que pudiera suceder en el viaje.In Antabamba and Aymaraes, when the time for travel arrives from Easter (March-April), the shepherds first perform the previous ceremony of the t\u27inka of the traveling llamas or orqo llamkuna. The Domestication of Animals in the Andes
No full textIn the western hemisphere the domestication of animals is focused on the Andes. Compared to the Near East, which is another center of domestication, the origin of the Andean is little known. This may be due, in part, to the fact that domesticated animals in South America did not have the economic importance of Old World animals, so their study has not been an urgent problem. However, the Andean center of domestication is an area in which the process of animal domestication can be studied and therefore offers the opportunity to gain a greater understanding of the development of the close relationship that exists between man and domesticated animals.En el hemisferio occidental la domesticación de animales está focalizada en los Andes. En comparación con el cercano oriente, que es otro centro de domesticación, el origen de la andina es poco conocido. Esto puede deberse, en parte, al hecho de que los animales domesticados en sudamérica no tuvieron la importancia económica de los animales del Viejo Mundo, por lo que su estudio no ha sido un problema urgente. Sin embargo el centro andino de domesticación es un área en la que el proceso de la domesticación de animales puede ser estudiado y por tanto ofrece la oportunidad para lograr una mayor comprensión del desarrollo de la estrecha relación que existe entre el hombre y los animales domesticados
