    Adoption and Use of Social Media for Engagement by Public Relations Professionals in Broadcasting Organisations in Plateau State, Nigeria

    The innovation of the Internet facility, no doubt has significantly transformed the manner in which individuals, organisations and groups collect, create and share messages. Social media as one of the Internet-related platforms has become important in the practice of public relations. Therefore, the crux of this study is to assess the adoption and use of social media for engagement by public relations professionals in broadcasting organisations in Plateau State, Nigeria. The study collected data from 58 respondents through the employment of the quantitative research design. Technological determinism theory is used to explain the thrust of the study. The research found among others that social media has great influence in the practice of public relations in the broadcasting organisations studied. The study recommends among others that public relations professionals in media organisations should continue to take advantage of social media for better engagement with their clients

On the other hand, it examines the narrative and stylistic structure of the tales, highlighting recurring patterns, unique stylistic techniques, and rhetorical methods that contribute to their impact and memorability. In summary, this article aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the specifics of the Rifian oral tale, unveiling the richness of its narrative universe and the elements that fuel its diversity and cultural importance

    Causal Relation and Problem-Solution in Native and Non-Native Students’ Argumentation Essays Based on the Use of ‘Problem

    The present study compares argumentation essays written by Non-Native Speaker (NNS) students to ones by Native Speaker (NS) students by looking at the use of causal relation and the Problem-Solution text pattern, drawing on the clause-relational approach. The study focuses on how the word problem, marking the discourse as a shell noun, is involved in these patterns. By examining the relation between problem and verb, and also interpreting a change in the Problem-Solution discourse stages, this paper will show that problem in the NS essays was mostly involved in causal relation and contributed to forming the conventional Problem-Solution pattern, while in the NNS essays, half of the instances of problem were in non-causal relation and formed random and irregular discourse patterns. This sometimes occurred with problem in causal relation, accounted for by such factors as types of verbs combined with problem, forms of the verbs, and subject types in the sentence. This paper will show some clear correlations between expressing causal relation and constructing the regular Problem-Solution pattern, and discuss pedagogical implications. The findings will be useful in the teaching of advanced level students so that they can write more effective and readable argumentation essays

    Early Neolithic Mobility in the Middle Struma River Valley

    Almost 85% of the territory of South-western Bulgaria is occupied by mountains, including the Rila and the Pirin massifs - the highest mountains on the Balkan Peninsula, reaching almost 3000 m above sea level. It is logical to assume that the Struma River Valley, which is the largest in this region, was a natural conduit for the spread of the Neolithic lifestyle from the Eastern Mediterranean towards Central Europe. But was this the actual situation? Only five settlements which have been dated to the various stages of the Early Neolithic Period have so far been registered in the Middle Struma Valley. The archaeological material from these sites reveals connections with the territories located to the south-west (northern Greece), to the west (Vardar River Valley) and to the east (Mesta River Valley). This indicates that the situation is much more complex, and the theory about the linear spreading of the agriculture from the south to the north along the Struma River Valley can no longer be regarded as proven. During the entire Early Neolithic period all natural mountain passes connecting the valleys of the Struma River, the Bregalnitsa River, and subsequently of the Vardar River to the west and Mesta River to the east, were actively used as communication routes. Thus, it rather is the West-east and east-west axis that played major role for the connectivity of the region of the Struma River Valley during the Early Neolithic period

    Location-based Adaptive Beamforming and Beam Steering for Mobile Communication in Multipath Environments

    This paper investigates location-based adaptive beamforming techniques, including Maximum Ratio Transmission (MRT) and Zero Forcing (ZF), in complex wireless environments. The study leverages a digital twin simulation of the University of Glasgow campus to evaluate the proposed schemes under realistic conditions, such as user mobility and multipath propagation. The results demonstrate significant performance improvements with the location-based beam steering approaches. In the open space scenario, the location-based schemes achieved up to 40% higher Signal-to-Interference-plus-Noise Ratio (SINR) and 30% higher received power, along with reduced interference. The gains were even more pronounced in the digital twin environment, with up to 50% improvement in SINR and 40% increase in received power. Furthermore, the study evaluates the energy efficiency of the location-based adaptive beamforming techniques, showing up to 20% reduction in energy consumption compared to conventional fixed-beam approaches

    Local Energy Community as a Small Hydrogen Valley H2LEC

    Local energy community (LEC) is a vertically nested system in energy supply and an ecosystem with joint values and objectives. On-site integrated hydrogen-based systems connected to the grid, consisting of electrolyzer, hydrogen storage and fuel cell system - hydrogen prosumers - provide efficient balancing of local energy consumption and local production of renewable energy that can be extended over annual cycles. There is no transport of hydrogen needed. Thus, H2LEC � Local energy community with integrated hydrogen systems - represents the carrier of dispersed energy and hydrogen production as a complement of concentrated energy and hydrogen production: on average, H2LEC will predictably achieve at least 75% self-supply. Additionally, with Combined Heat-and-Power systems, coupling to thermal system adds to energy efficiency. H2LEC represents a virtual socio-economic system based on community values and thus engaging initiative, innovation and capital of local actors, new technology start-ups and local industry; and represents opportunity for new disruptive business models. It brings into the energy supply system new players � prosumers, who actively trade their flexibilities among themselves and on the external markets, and stimulates new enabling technologies, notably automated close-to-real time trading, boosting end-to-end automated solutions. The H2LEC create the need and the market for smaller integrated hydrogen-based systems ranging from a few kWe for residential homes to a few MWe units for larger industrial companies or local districts, with complete range of capacities in between, needed for public or tertiary buildings and smaller enterprises. Thus, they provide an opening for participation of SMEs in local and international value chains and will create a strong complementary energy bottom-up pillar and hydrogen supply system locally and in Europe

    Evaluation of the Connection Line in Dissimilar Welding with Low Alloy and Low Carbon Wire using the Gmaw Process

    The use of welds with dissimilar characteristics is applied when it is necessary to join two materials that are considered metallurgically, mechanically, and chemically different. This study aims to understand the metallurgical effects on dissimilar joints between a low-carbon steel SAE 1015 and the AWS A5.36 E110C-MG low-alloy welding wire and the AWS A5.18 ER70S-6 low-carbon steel electrode, using the Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) process. To characterize the bonding line between the materials, the chemical composition of both metals was evaluated through optical emission spectroscopy, and metallurgical characterization was carried out using an optical microscope, also assessing the Vickers microhardness. In order to map the thermal behavior, thermographic images were obtained during the welding process. In the microstructural evaluation of the bonding zone between the base material and the deposited material, the presence of Widmanst�tten ferrite was observed, with a refined grain size microstructure in the weld region, which explains the increase in microhardness by approximately 24%.
