    Divergent Paths of Neo-Endogenous Rural Development: A Comparative Analysis of Rural Villages in South Korea

    The paper is to compare two villages in Songak-myeon, Asan, Cnungnam Province in Korea. It tries to show how the joint village project, which began with the support of the same external organization, produces different results depending on the internal conditions and circumstances of the village. From the end of the 1990s, Pyeongchon-ri and Sugok-ri started developing villages under the influence of the environmentally friendly farming movement. And subsequent supports were provided by local organizations for the development of the village. However, the village project in Sugok-ri, which focused on economic performance, later turned out to be a failure, and the residents changed to pursue activities for their own economic interests individually. On the other hand, In Pyeongchon-ri, the cooperation among villagers was strengthened in implementing support projects by similar external agencies. In addition, community ties and identity have been strengthened as problems have been solved through cooperation among residents in the process of promoting the village project. Nevertheless, projects undertaken in Pyeongchon-ri for the purpose of increasing economic performance was all failed. Through these findings, the paper asserts that the neo- endogenous development approach utilizing external support based on internal cooperative network among villagers must be a very useful method for rural development in contemporary societies

    Forensic Anthropology Cases in Uruguay an Update (1992-2023)

    The article presents an update of a quantitative analysis of the forensic anthropology cases that occurred in Uruguay from 1992 to 2023. The number of forensic anthropology cases has rapidly increased in Uruguay. Over 30 years this number had rise from 14 cases in 1992 to 75 cases in 2023, reached a maximum number of cases in 2006 and 2013, ascending to 91 cases for each year. Forensic anthropology cases processed between 1992 and 2023 at the Judicial Morgue of Montevideo ascending at the present to 1752. The Laboratory of Forensic Anthropology at the Judicial Morgue of Montevideo City was created in 1992, as a response to the need to address the backlog of cases. Since 1992 all the remains were analyzed to determine sex, stature and age at the time of death and, eventually the identity of the remains. In cases where a positive identification was made, a forensic anthropology analysis was also performed. The purpose of this paper is to describe the place of forensic anthropology in the Uruguayan medico-legal system, the evolution an increase of the number of cases from 1992 to 2023 and, to show its effectiveness in identification of human remains

    Modelling of Large Fire Insurance Claims: An Extreme Value Theory Approach

    This research paper aims to develop a mathematical model that employs Extreme Value Theory (EVT) and Risk Measures to estimate and forecast significant fire insurance claims. The primary goal is to provide insurance companies with a more accurate understanding of the potential risks associated with substantial fire-related losses. The study incorporates a three-parameter Generalized Pareto Distribution (GPD) within the EVT framework to assess insurer risk concerning catastrophic fire events. The importance of evaluating fire-related financial losses for insurers is emphasized, especially given the impact of infrequent yet impactful extreme events on overall loss trends. By applying EVT techniques, including the GPD and Peaks Over Threshold (POT) method, to a historical dataset of fire insurance claims, the study effectively models the tail behavior of large losses. Parameters obtained from these models facilitate the calculation of probabilities for extreme loss occurrences, thereby enhancing risk management and pricing strategies for insurance firms. The results demonstrate the EVT approach�s effectiveness in accurately modeling and estimating the risk associated with significant fire insurance claims. This research contributes to the insurance domain by presenting an enhanced mathematical and statistical framework for modeling substantial fire insurance claims. Such an approach enables insurers to better comprehend the potential financial implications of� rare fire incidents, leading to more informed risk evaluation and resource allocation

    The beginning of iron ore mining on an industrial scale in Kryvyi Rih almost 150 years ago became the impetus for the rapid industrial development of the region. As a result, only during the period from the 30s to the 90s of the 20th century, Kryvyi Rih turned from a small town into an industrial giant. The Kryvyi Rih region experienced rapid economic development, but at the same time, the industrial complex fundamentally changed the landscape and led to extremely serious environmental problems and man-made hazards. Therefore, it is important to study and research the geospatial changes of the territory, environmental hazards and search for solutions to the problems. The purpose of this study is to comprehensively highlight the positive economic factors of the development of the industrial complex of Kryvyi Rih and to study the geospatial changes of the territory as a consequence of the development of the mining and industrial complex. The task of the research is to highlight man-made and ecological problems and the environmental impact of the industrial complex in the city of Kryvyi Rih, associated with the rapid development of the mining and industrial complex of the region

    This paper presents a novel approach to actuarial modeling and risk pricing for travel insurance under IFRS 17 regulations. We develop an advanced, inflation-adjusted frequency-severity model using Gaussian Process Regression (GPR) to forecast claim frequencies, severities, and premiums. Our methodology integrates synthetic data generation, com- prehensive exploratory data analysis, and sophisticated GPR modeling to address the complexities of travel insurance pricing. We also incorporate an inflation adjustment model and perform extensive scenario and stress testing to assess the robustness of our predictions. The resulting model not only provides automated actuarial estimates of loss reserves and risk premiums but also offers a detailed calculation of IFRS 17 metrics such as Contract Service Margin (CSM) and Loss Ratio. This approach is distinguished by its innovative use of clustering and visualization techniques for underwriting, as well as its comprehensive analysis of financial health through simulated actuarial features and expenses. The findings contribute to more accurate and responsive insurance pricing strategies, enhancing compliance with regulatory standards and improving financial re-porting

    We show that the Diophantine equation X 3 + Y 6 = Z 6 (0.1) admits matrix triple solutions from M3(N) and M6k(N), k ? N. We construct infinite universes made of these solutions. We introduce different construction structures sets of matrix solutions associated to the Diophantine equation (0.1). These construction structures sets of matrix solutions allow us to show that there exists an infinite number of multiverses (parallel universes) of the matrix solutions of the Diophantine equation (0.1) containing each a finite number of universes of matrix triples

    This paper raises some considerations about the scientific progress that enabled the development of a Computer Science\u27s research field, the so-called cognitive computing, whose greatest achievement is the advent of Artificial Intelligence, around which research and technological creations have been radically changing the human ethos in unprecedented proportions. In addition to the approach relating to scientificity that shapes the conception of the mind as metabolism of the brain, it is also intended in this study to seek the need to reflect on such occurrences in the scope of Philosophical Ethics (Practical Philosophy), since it seems to at least epistemologically reduce the integrality of the human condition to biological manipulation. This trend has been updated in discussions about AI and machinic agency, a trend that deprives humans of their spirituality by equating them to machinic entities that seductively simulate the mechanisms of the sapiens brain
