Alzheimer Hastalarında Kas İskelet Problemleri ve Kognitif Bozukluklar Arasındaki İlişkinin Değerlendirilmesi
Amaç Bu çalışmanın amacı, Alzheimer hastalığı (AH) olan bireylerde görülebilecek kas-iskelet sistemi sorunları ile bilişsel bozuklukları değerlendirmek ve bu sorunlar arasındaki etkileşimi belirlemektir. Gereç ve Yöntemler Çalışmaya nöroloji doktoru tarafından AH tanısı konu- lan toplam 25 birey dahil edilmiştir. Katılımcıların de- mografik verileri kaydedilmiş, postür analizi yapılmış ve Standardize Mini Mental Test (SMMT), Barthel İndeksi (Bİ) ve Global Yıkım Ölçeği (GYÖ) uygulanmıştır. Bulgular Postür analizi sonuçlarında; %76’sında başın anterior tilti, %76’sında omuz protraksiyonu, %8’inde çökük göğüs tipi varlığı, %84’ünde torakal kifozda artış olduğu, %12’inde genu varum varlığı ve %32’sinde halluks valgus varlığı tespit edildi. Bireylerin SMMT sonuçları ile Bİ ve GYÖ sonuçları arasında anlamlı ilişki olduğu görüldü (p=0.024 ve p=0.002). Ayrıca GYÖ evreleri arttıkça Bİ’deki bağım- lılık düzeylerinin anlamlı olarak arttığı tespit edilirken (p=0.008) eğitim düzeyleri ile GYÖ evreleri arasında an- lamlı bir ilişki olmadığı tespit edildi. Sonuç Demans ve tam fonksiyonel bağımlılık yaşayan AH'li bireylerde kas-iskelet sistemi bozukluklarının gelişmesi muhtemeldir. Bu nedenle, tıbbi tedavi ile birlikte fizyoter- api uygulamalarının teşvik edilmesi, fonksiyonel bağım- lılığı ve bilişsel bozukluğu iyileştirmek için önemlidir.ABSTRACT Objective The objective of this study was to evaluate musculoskeletal problems and cognitive disorders that may be seen in individuals with Alzheimer's disease (AD) and to determine the interaction between these problems. Material and Methods Twenty-fve individuals diagnosed with AD by a neurologist were included in the study. The participants' demographic data was recorded, a posture analysis was performed, and Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), Barthel Index (BI), and Global Deterioration Scale (GDS) were applied. Results Posture analyses revealed anterior head tilt in 76%, shoulder protraction in 76%, collapsed chest type in 8%, increased thoracic kyphosis in 84%, genu varum in 12%, and hallux valgus in 32%. There was a signifcant correlation between the MMSE results of the individuals and the results of BI and GDS (p=0.024 and p=0.002). In addition, it was determined that the dependency levels in BI increased signifcantly as the stages of the GDS increased (p=0.008). At the same time, there was no signifcant relationship between the education status and the stages of the GDS. Conclusion Musculoskeletal disorders are likely to develop in individuals with AD experiencing dementia and complete functional dependence. Therefore, promoting physiotherapy practices along with medical treatment is important to improve functional dependence and cognitive impairment

8th grade students' experiences in the laboratory environment and metaverse environment
This study was conducted in the laboratory and Metaverse environment with "Acids-Bases," a science subject related to the Metaverse, one of today's technologies. In line with the purpose of the research, the embedded design of the mixed research method, which combined quantitative and qualitative research methods, was used. The experimental design was used in the quantitative dimension of the research, and an achievement test was applied to the students consisting of the experimental and control groups as a pretest/post-test. In the qualitative dimension of the research, a semi-structured interview form was applied using the case design. The study group consisted of secondary school students studying in a public school. The sample consists of 20 students, ten experimental and ten controlled. The result of the study was that the effect of the traditional laboratory environment on academic achievement was higher than that of the virtual laboratory environment
A New Gluten-Free Product: Quality and Acceptability of Pumpkin Flour and Chips
Pumpkin, a versatile ingredient known for its high nutritional content and abundance of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, was used in the development of flour and gluten-free chips. The physicochemical, microbiological, and sensory properties of both the pumpkin flour and gluten-free chips were thoroughly examined. The moisture, dry matter, and ash content of pumpkin flour ranged from 32.84% to 55.28%, 44.72% to 67.16%, and 4.57% to 6.88%, respectively, with a mean pH value of 6.77. Gluten-free chips made with pumpkin flour had a high dry matter content (89.97%) and low moisture content (10.03%). Additionally, due to the high mineral content, the product was slightly acidic (pH 5.79) with a high ash content (9.61%). The L*, a*, and b* values for pumpkin flour were 70.5, 11.3, and 58.0, respectively. In comparison, the values for gluten-free chips were 40.08, 11.02, and 21.59, respectively. The research results show that gluten-free chips are microbiologically safe, preferred by consumers, and resistant to spoilage during shelf life.</jats:p
