No full text
Background: Thirst is a common symptom among surgical patients and an important symptom affecting patient comfort. Thirst in the perioperative period is often described by patients as a more uncomfortable experience than pain or hunger. This study was conducted to determine the thirst experiences of surgical patients in the perioperative period. Methods: In this study, the phenomenological design within the qualitative research model was used. The study was conducted in the general surgery clinic of a university hospital between January 01, 2025 and April 01, 2025. The sample of the study consisted of 13 patients who underwent surgical intervention and the participants were selected by purposive sampling method. The research data were collected using the Patient Introduction Form, Data Collection Form for the Surgical Period and Semi-structured Interview Form. Qualitative data were analyzed using Colaizzi's seven-step method. Results: As a result of the study, five main themes and a total of 12 sub-themes were identified: “thirst feeling”, “thirst effect”, “reaction to thirst”, “thirst period” and “severity of thirst”. In the individual interviews with the patients, it was found that the patients generally expressed that they physically experienced dry mouth, lips, palate and throat, and emotionally they felt stress, anxiety and restlessness. Conclusions: Thirst in the perioperative period caused patients to experience not only physiologic but also emotional discomfort and negatively affected their overall experience of the surgical process. Accordingly, it is recommended that healthcare professionals adopt an approach that is sensitive to both physiological symptoms and emotional needs

XI. Although the rebellion of Arslan Bashāsirī is considered as a rebellion against the Abbasid State, it was a rebellion that directly affected the Seljuk State, the Fatimid State and the emirates of the region. It was also the instigator of the Ibrahim Yınal rebellion within the Seljuk State. These developments, which took place during the reign of Tugrul Beg, the first ruler of the newly established Seljuk State, soon became a matter of survival of the Seljuk State. The Seljuk State had to fight against these rebellions, which were supported by the Fatimid State with significant amounts of weapons, money and military aid, both for itself and for the Abbasid State. A possible unfavourable development could have brought the newly established Seljuk State to the brink of collapse. Likewise, the loss of the capital Baghdad and the throne of the Abbasid Caliphate could also spell the end of the state. As a result of all these critical assumptions, the Seljuk State emerged successfully from these revolts and became a state with increased prestige and authority both in the region and in the Islamic world. In the following period, they became the biggest supporter of the Caliphate. The fact that the Seljuk sons, who accepted Islam at the beginning of the XIth century, became the protector of Islamic countries and the Caliphate within only 18 years after establishing a state is another important issue that should be emphasised among the results of the rebellion. From this perspective, this chain of events, which included two dangerous rebellions, was actually significant enough to cause a rupture and a shift in the balance of power within the Islamic world

Examining the interaction between artificial intelligence literacy and individual entrepreneurial orientation in teacher candidates: The mediating role of sustainable development

No full text
This study investigates the effect of artificial intelligence literacy on individual entrepreneurial orientation through sustainable development behaviors using structural equation modeling. Conducted with pre-service teachers, the research utilized artificial intelligence literacy, sustainable development behavior, and individual entrepreneurship orientation scales. Data analysis involved structural equation modeling and bootstrap methods. Results indicated that artificial intelligence literacy positively influenced both sustainable development behaviors and individual entrepreneurial orientation. A moderate positive correlation was found between artificial intelligence literacy and sustainable development behaviors (r = 0.41, p < .01) and individual entrepreneurship orientation (r = 0.39, p < .01). Additionally, sustainable development behaviors had a significant effect on individual entrepreneurial orientation (beta = 0.426, p < .000). The structural equation model exhibited good fit indices, and the total effect of artificial intelligence literacy on individual entrepreneurial orientation was positive and significant (beta = 0.433, p < .000). Together, artificial intelligence literacy and sustainable development behaviors explained 33% of individual entrepreneurial orientation. This study introduced a specific pedagogical innovation by integrating artificial intelligence literacy into teacher training, which aimed to develop critical skills essential for entrepreneurial orientation and sustainable development. By emphasizing the mediating role of sustainable development behaviors, the study highlighted its contribution to advancing responsible management and sustainability in education

The decision-making process during the transition to higher education is crucial for shaping individuals career trajectories and influencing society’s long-term employment patterns and strategic human resource planning. Digital career guidance systems aim to facilitate this process by providing data-driven decision support that enables students to make more informed choices. However, usability stands as one of the most fundamental criteria for ensuring that such systems can effectively serve their intended purpose. The usability of the Higher Education Atlas (YÖK Atlas) was evaluated in terms of effectiveness, efficiency, and user satisfaction. This study was conducted with eight high school seniors who were in the process of transitioning to higher education. Participants completed usability evaluations through authentic tasks involving modules, such as the Program Atlas, Preference Wizard, and Graduate Success Atlas. Effectiveness was measured by task completion rates, efficiency through cognitive effort indicators (eyetracking, think-aloud, and duration analysis), and satisfaction through surveys. The results showed that while most tasks were completed successfully, participants invested considerable cognitive effort. Usability issues were observed in content organization, limited search functionality, inconsistencies across modules, and inadequate guidance mechanisms. While participants valued YÖK Atlas as a valuable and reliable resource, they reported that it was difficult to use. The main problems concerned content organization, weak search functions, inconsistencies between modules, and a lack of precise guidance. Conducted using a multimethod usability approach, this study identified existing usability problems and provided recommendations to enhance navigation and interaction design, making the platform more intuitive and user-friendly.</p
