Tutkimusta on rahoittanut Svenska Kulturfonden. This study charted the identity of Swedish-speaking Finns and their opinions on various aspects of everyday life, such as politics and society, the use of mass media, leisure time activities, values, and the sense of belonging. The study was funded by the Swedish Cultural Foundation in Finland (Svenska kulturfonden). The first questions revolved around language. The respondents' and their families' Finnish and Swedish language skills were surveyed. It was examined whether the respondents had used Swedish, Finnish or both in different types of contexts, e.g. at home, at school, with friends, at bureaus and banks, and at work. They were also asked which language was or would be their children's language at school. It was examined whether the respondents had used Swedish, Finnish or both in different types of situations within the previous year, such as doctor's appointments, vehicle inspections, and visits to the city council, libraries and tax offices. The next questions concerned media, the press, radio, and television. The respondents were asked if they had a digital TV receiver in their household, and their preferred newspapers, radio stations and television channels were surveyed, as well as their internet use. The respondents were also presented with a variety of activities and asked if they had participated in them within the previous 12 months (e.g. playing a sport, going to the movies/theatre, working overtime, helping neighbours, and praying to God). One set of questions pertained to politics and society, and the respondents' interest and activity in political matters was examined. They were asked about their party preferences and if they had participated in or discussed politics in different ways within the previous year. Views were also surveyed on democracy within the EU, Finland, the respondent's region of residence and the municipality of residence. Finally, the respondents' views on ways to influence municipal politics and the effects of municipal mergers were examined, and the respondents were asked what type of topics they were interested in discussing with friends and other people. Background variables included, for instance, region of residence, age group, gender, education level, economic activity and occupational status, marital status, and household composition

Tutkimuksen pääteemana oli poliittinen orientaatio. Aineisto kerättiin osana Tampereen yliopiston politiikan tutkimuksen opiskelijoiden SUUNTA-tutkimusprojektia. Edelleen kysyttiin vastaajan vanhempien poliittista suuntautumista. The main theme of this study was political orientation. The data were gathered as part of SUUNTA, a research project carried out by students within the degree programme in politics at the University of Tampere. The study charted political behaviour and attitudes among students of Tampere University of Applied Sciences. Firstly, the presence of political matters in the respondents' daily lives and their interest in politics on a general level were charted. The participants were asked about societal matters and how often they were discussed at home, at school, with friends, with family, and in social media. The respondents' experiences of working life, unions and their socio-economic class were also surveyed. The remainder of the survey, however, focused more on the political views of the respondents. The students were asked to place themselves on the left-right political spectrum and to state their possible party preferences. The respondents' opinions on a variety of political statements were also examined. The statements concerned, among other things, the following subjects: free higher education, taxation, same-sex marriages, multiculturalism, healthcare, abortion, and the environment. The respondents were asked to evaluate their knowledge about societal matters and their involvement in society and politics, e.g. by participating in demonstrations or contacting political decision-makers. The participants also evaluated how their parents, partners, friends, schools and workplaces have affected their political stances. Moreover, the survey examined the respondents' trust in political institutions and other people. Finally, the study surveyed the students' satisfaction in Finland's economic and democratic situation. Background variables included faculty, educational background, work experience, age, gender, type of housing, type of neighbourhood, marital status, and religious affiliation

The study charted forest professionals' experiences of forest conservation in their work, opinions on new means of ensuring biodiversity of forests, principles of forest management, and the development of client interaction in securing biodiversity. The survey is part of the METSO collaborative research project funded by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (2013-2016). The respondents were first asked about the type of tasks that are included in their daily work (e.g. consultation of forest owners, creating forest management plans), and about their experiences of new work methods, such as Terrestrial Laser Scanning (TLS) techniques, and new forest management methods made possible by recent changes to the Forest Act. Experiences of voluntary forest conservation were examined, as well as whether the respondents had participated in trainings regarding the new Forest Act or the METSO biodiversity programme. The respondents were also asked to evaluate their own expertise and areas of development both personally and in the industry more generally. Views on the motives and goals of forest management planning as well as experiences of the professional-client relationship and different types of client interaction were surveyed with a set of attitudinal statements. The study also surveyed attitudes towards voluntary forest conservation as well as forest inventories, their usefulness and reliability. The respondents were asked about changes in their work tasks within the previous three years. In addition, their wishes for development in their work practices were queried with an open-ended question. The final questions covered work motivation, perceptions of own expertise, new work methods and tools, and the reliability of devices, software and databases used by the respondent's organisation. The respondents' views on ideal work practices and tools were also examined, especially relating to Terrestrial Laser Scanning. Background variables included gender, year of birth, position of employment, time worked in the current position, education history, and time worked in the industry

Aineisto koostuu vuonna 1972 perustetun ja sittemmin toimintansa lopettaneen Kulttuurityöntekijäin liiton (KTL) aktiivien haastatteluista. Haastattelut on alunperin kerätty Kulttuurityöntekijäin liiton historiaa käsittelevää kirjaa varten. Haastatteluissa on käytetty kolmea eri kysymysrunkoa. The data comprise interviews with active members in the former Association for Cultural Workers in Finland (Kulttuurityöntekijäin liitto, KTL), which was a Finnish Marxist-Leninist association founded in 1972. All interviewees had had a significant role in the founding and activities of the association, and they appear in the data with their real names. The interview questions were structured around five main themes: personal background; motivations for participating in political activism and joining KTL; activities of the association and the interviewees' attitudes toward e.g. the Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia; interpersonal relations inside the association; and difficult issues such as attitudes toward homosexuality in Finnish leftist circles in the 1970s and the case of musician Wolf Biermann (a large share of KTL members signed a letter supporting his expatriation from the DDR). Background information in the data includes the date and duration of the interview, and the name and occupation of the interviewee. The dataset is only available in Finnish

The respondents' and their families' Finnish and Swedish language skills were surveyed. It was examined whether the respondents had used Swedish, Finnish or both in different types of situations within the previous year, such as doctor's appointments, vehicle inspections, and visits to the city council, libraries or tax offices. The respondents were also asked whether they preferred not to use Swedish with authorities because they were afraid of receiving hostile service, and if they felt that their errands had not been taken proper care of in the past due to an official's lack of Swedish language skills. The next questions concerned mass media, the press, radio, and television. The respondents' preferred newspapers, radio stations and television channels were surveyed, as well as their internet use. After this, the respondents were asked if they felt a sense of belonging in various lands and regions, such as Finland, Swedish-speaking Finland, Sweden, the Nordic, and the European Union. Tutkimus kartoittaa suomalaisten asenteita, uskomuksia ja käyttäytymistä. Kysely koostuu samanlaisena jokaisella kierroksella toistuvasta ydinmoduulista sekä jokaiselle kierrokselle erikseen suunnitelluista vaihtuvista moduuleista. Vuoden 2016 erityisteemoja olivat ilmastonmuutos ja hyvinvointi. Tutkimuksen rahoittaa Suomen Akatemia. Haastateltujen sosiodemografisia taustoja kartoitettiin tutkimuksessa hyvin laajasti. Heiltä tiedusteltiin muun muassa perherakennetta, sukupuolta, ikää, asuinalueen tyyppiä, koulutusta ja ammattia, puolison ja vanhempien taustoja, kuulumista ammattiliittoon, kotitalouden tuloja ja siviilisäätyä. Viimeiset kysymykset sisälsivät vastaajien perusarvoja 21 väitelauseen avulla kartoittavan Schwartzin arvomittarin (Human Values Scale) ja kysymysten ja vastausskaalojen toimivuutta kontrolloivia testikysymyksiä.The data charted attitudes, beliefs and behaviour of Finnish citizens. The survey consists of a core module repeated each collection round and rotating modules on different themes. The special themes of the 2016 collection round were climate change and well-being. The Finnish survey is funded by the Academy of Finland. The first questions pertained to mass media, social trust (e.g. "Can people be trusted?"; "Do people help each other or only work for their own benefit?"), party preference and political participation in the previous 12 months, the state of Finnish society, national identity and European integration, immigration and multiculturalism, adoption rights of same-sex couples, and trust in institutions and decision-making bodies, such as the Parliament, the police, and the United Nations. Views on well-being and equality were charted with questions about happiness, social relations, safety, and health. The respondents were also asked if they found themselves religious or part of a discriminated-against group, and the reasons for their discrimination were examined. It was also asked if the respondents felt that immigrants should be allowed or denied access to the country based on a variety of reasons (e.g. they had an education, they were Christian, their expertise was sought-after). Attitudes toward asylum seekers were also studied. Views on climate change and global warming were charted with questions regarding energy efficient home appliances, energy consumption, energy availability and different energy sources, the effects of climate change, and actions required for hindering climate change. The next theme pertained to society. Questions covered the acceptability of income disparity, the number of unemployed people, the standard of living that the unemployed and the retired have, social security benefits (their cost, their effect on equality in Finland, and if they make people lazy or unwilling to help each other), and the rights of immigrants. Some questions examined attitudes toward unemployment benefits and if they should be denied from unemployed persons who would not accept a job if offered to them. It was also asked whether a universal basic income system should be employed, and if the respondent would vote for or against a EU membership if a referendum were held. The respondents' sociodemographic background information was charted thoroughly in this study. Among other things, they were asked about household composition, gender, age, marital status, type of residential area, the respondents' and their spouses' and parents' education level and occupation, household net income, and possible trade union membership. One set of questions charted the respondents' values with 21 attitudinal statements based on the Schwartz Human Values Scale, and finally, the functionality of the survey and the response scales was examined with a set of test questions

This study charted Finnish people's attitudes toward donating money to charity and factors that motivate Finns to donate. The study was commissioned by the Finnish Fundraising Association VaLa in cooperation with NGO platform Kepa and the Finnish Olympic Committee. Taloustutkimus collected the data. First, the study surveyed the respondents' donating habits (e.g. if they donated regularly to one or more organisations, donated on occasion to charity campaigns or collections, or did not normally support charities). Next, the most important reasons for making the latest donation were queried (e.g. wanted to change the world for the better, a celebrity showed their support for the charity campaign, the organisation was familiar, the organisation was Finnish, the cause was important on a personal level). It was also asked which factors the respondents generally deemed important in their decision to donate (e.g. sufficient information is provided on how the donated money will be used, donating money is made effortless, the organisation's money collection permit is visible). It was further enquired whether it was possible for citizens to receive sufficient information regarding how the donated money is used, and whether the respondents knew what sort of results were achieved with their latest donation. They were also asked through which channels they received information about fundraising organisations, i.e. how they use the donations and what sort of results they achieve. The study also surveyed reasons for not donating money to charity (e.g. did not want to participate, no interesting causes for which to donate, did not trust the collecting organisation, own financial situation did not allow for donating). Finally, the respondents were asked about factors that would motivate them to donate in the future. Background variables included gender, age, NUTS2 region, household composition and household gross annual income

The data examined the well-being of Finnish students at upper secondary level institutions. The themes of the survey included school conditions, social relations, possibilities of self-actualisation and state of health. The questions were presented as attitudinal statements and multiple-choice questions. The statements were evaluated on a five-level scale ranging from "strongly agree" to "strongly disagree". Questions charting conditions at the institution covered school facilities and activities. The respondents were asked, for instance, about satisfaction with the size, temperature and ventilation of classrooms, toilet facilities as well as the cleanliness and safety of school buildings and yard areas. They were also asked to evaluate if it was possible to work in peace in the classrooms, if the amount of schoolwork was appropriate, if rules and disciplinary actions at the institution were sensible, and if it was easy to get to visit the school nurse or counselor. Some statements examined social relations between students as well as between the students and teachers, along with the attitudes of the student's family toward studying. The respondents were asked, for example, if groupwork was successful, if fellow students offered help, if teachers were friendly, and if family members respected their studies and helped with homework. It was also charted whether the respondents had been bullied at the institution during the current semester and whether they had themselves bullied someone. Some questions pertained to self-actualisation. These questions covered e.g. whether teachers listened to the respondents' opinions, if students' opinions were taken into consideration in the institution's decision-making, whether the respondents had found a suitable study method and took care of their study duties, if they were thanked for good work, if they felt that studying is important and whether they received help from teachers when needed. Questions concerning the respondents' general health examined if they had suffered from a variety of symptoms during the current study term (e.g. stomach pains, difficulty falling asleep or waking up at night, headaches, feeling sad, fears). Background variables included gender, age and grade

Vastaajilta kysyttiin mitä päivälehtiä he lukevat, mitä radiokanavia kuuntelevat ja mitä televisiokanavia katselevat, sekä näihin käytettyä aikaa. Lopuksi kartoitettiin osallistumista yhdistystoimintaan. Taustamuuttujina olivat asuinalue, ikäluokka, koulutus, työllisyystilanne, siviilisääty ja talouden koko. This study charted the identity of Swedish-speaking Finns and their opinions on various aspects of everyday life, such as politics and society, the use of mass media, values, and identity. The respondents were asked to evaluate how happy they had been with the service they had received in e.g. post offices, city councils, police stations, and libraries. The respondents were also asked which language was or would be their children's language at school. The respondents' views on media, the press, radio, and television were also surveyed. Their preferred newspapers, radio stations and television channels were examined, as well as the time the respondents spent with these types of media per day. The respondents' internet use was also examined. The respondents' interest in different types of activism and associations was charted. Finally, the respondents were presented with attitudinal statements regarding the state of Swedish in Finland. This study charted how workplace well-being and occupational healthcare were managed in Finnish municipal organisations in terms of well-being monitoring and measuring, preparedness for situations where an employee's capacity to work has diminished, and cooperation with occupational healthcare providers. First, the study surveyed how regularly the respondents' organisations carried out a variety of tasks measuring and surveying occupational well-being and employees' ability to work, as well as how they prepared for possible problems in this regard. For instance, it was queried whether the organisations conducted surveys charting employees' well-being and capacity to work, made calculations about the costs of an employee's inability to work, and prepared for retirement of employees. It was also surveyed which of these measures the respondents deemed strategically the most central for their respective organisations. The respondents were also presented with a set of statements that charted e.g. whether their organisations regularly monitored sick leaves, had recognised underlying causes for sick leaves, or had formed action plans with the goal of preventing work-related injuries and accidents. Some questions covered whether the organisations had a personnel strategy and a staff well-being coordinator. Strategic management of employees' well-being and ability to work was surveyed with statements regarding e.g. whether the organisation's personnel strategy promoted longer work careers, whether the organisation had set measurable goals for the development of workplace well-being, and whether immediate superiors had access to technical equipment with which to measure employees' well-being and ability to work. Next, the respondents were asked to evaluate whether different actors inside the organisation, such as union representatives, immediate superiors or the management, received sufficient information on e.g. sick leaves, employee well-being and the costs of an employee's inability to work. The next questions queried the type and extent of occupational healthcare services in the respondents' organisations. The respondents were asked whether the organisation would have the ability to formulate a wellness action plan in cooperation with the occupational healthcare provider. They were also asked about their overall satisfaction with the cooperation between the organisation and the occupational healthcare provider, as well as whether the provider had sufficient healthcare personnel for the organisation's needs and whether the services they provided promoted employee well-being and long work careers. Finally, it was charted e.g. whether the effectiveness of occupational healthcare was evaluated in cooperation with personnel, and whether the organisation's wellness action plan was updated according to these evaluations. The respondents were also asked whether the occupational healthcare provider sent the organisation reports regarding employee well-being and ability to work, and whether these reports were utilised in the development of workplace well-being. The respondents were finally asked to grade the strategic management of occupational well-being in their organisations on a scale from 4 to 10
