The survey charted substance use related cases in social and health services on the second Tuesday of October in 2007. Professionals in social and health services recorded information on every client or patient who used the services on that day while intoxicated or because of some harm, such as an injury, relating to substance use, or were assessed by an employee to be a substance abuser. First, the substances the client had used (e.g. alcohol, cannabis, cocaine) as well as whether they had injected any drugs were charted. The occurrence of threatening or violent behaviour by the client in the social welfare or health care facility was examined. Mental health problems unrelated to substance use, gambling problems and disabilities such as visual or hearing impairment were also surveyed. Next, the questionnaire contained some questions directed only at either outpatient care clients (questions 15-19) or inpatient care clients (questions 20-21). The questions aimed at outpatient care clients focused on, for example, whether they had made an appointment beforehand, why they had sought assistance (e.g. injury, depression, financial problems) and the time used on the provided services. The questions aimed at inpatient care (overnight care) clients examined the length of the client's continuous treatment at the time of data collection (e.g. 1-3 days, over a month, 6-12 months) and the reason why the services required by the client were not provided as outpatient care (e.g. seriousness of injury, mental illness, preventing domestic violence). Background variables included the region where the social welfare or health care facility was located (NUTS3) and type of the facility as well as the client's gender, region of residence (NUTS3), marital status, age group, economic activity and occupational status, socio-economic status and housing tenure

Aineistosta on tehty html-versio, jonka hakemiston avulla kirjoituksia on helppo selata. This dataset consists of 11 writings where generalist degree students describe their academic expertise and its development throughout their university studies. In this context, generalist degree refers to fields of study where students graduate as experts in the more broad field they studied rather than studies that lead to a specific occupational title (e.g. doctor). In the invitation to write, the students were asked to describe their general expertise at present as well as whether they felt they were experts in some specific field. They were also asked to write about the support they had received or would want to receive from their university in developing their expertise. Additionally, the students were asked to describe their generalist degree studies and the potential benefits they thought the degree offered for working life. Central themes in the writings included studies, expertise and the abilities needed in working life. Background information included the participant's gender, age, field of study and the year of beginning studies. The data are only available in Finnish

Vuoden 2019 International Social Survey Programme (ISSP) -aineisto käsitteli taloudellista eriarvoisuutta. The 2019 International Social Survey Programme (ISSP) studied economic inequality in Finland. The respondents' attitudes were surveyed on income disparity between social groups, occupations and societies as well as which actors in society should solve these disparities. In addition, the survey charted the respondents' socio-economic situation, Finnish taxation, and conflicts between social groups. The previous ISSP survey regarding inequality was collected in 2009. First, the respondents' opinions were charted concerning the importance of different factors for succeeding in life, such as parents' wealth, ambition, social networks, corruption, or gender. Additionally, views were canvassed on fairness of differences in wealth between rich and poor countries. The respondents were also asked to estimate what persons in different occupations earned (euros/month, gross) and what the respondents thought they ought to be paid. Next, the respondents were presented with a set of statements that they were asked to agree or disagree with on a 5-point Likert scale. The questions concerned, for example, whether income disparity was too great in Finland, who should intervene with income disparity, whether the policies of the government were justified and whether the current level of taxation was justified. The respondents also placed themselves on a 10-point scale according to whether they considered themselves to be at the top or the bottom in society - currently, in childhood home and ten years into the future. Their views were also enquired on which factors they deemed important in deciding one's level of pay. Views on the hierarchical structure of society were examined by showing the respondents five figures representing differently built societies and asking which of the figures corresponded most closely to the situation in the respondent's own country, and which figure corresponded most closely to an optimal situation. The respondents were also asked questions regarding their economic situation at the time of the survey. Background variables included, for instance, gender, year of birth, region of residence (NUTS2), occupation, educational background, religious affiliation, which party the respondent voted for in previous elections, number of children, income, marital status, and statistical grouping of municipalities (urban, semi-urban, rural). The survey also included questions concerning the respondent's spouse/partner and parents' occupations

The survey charted the career and employment situations of people who had graduated from Finnish universities with a lower (BA/BSc or equivalent) or higher (MA/MSc or equivalent) degree in 2014. The survey was conducted five years after graduation. The first part investigated the respondents' education and work history. They were asked whether they had, after graduation, participated in job-related training, career guidance or any additional professional qualification or higher education studies. The respondents were asked whether they agreed or disagreed to a set of attitudinal statements regarding their degree and its usefulness for employment. Further questions covered how many employers the respondents had had, whether the respondents had been entrepreneurs, self-employed or freelancers, and whether they had been outside the labour market because of a family leave or unemployment. The respondents' satisfaction with their career thus far was charted, along with current occupational status, type of employer, and type of current work tasks. The respondents were also asked whether the first job after graduation had required an academic degree, whether it had been commensurate with their qualification, and if not, why they had accepted the job. It was also examined to what extent the respondents had been able to utilise knowledge and skills gained during their university studies. Monthly gross income at the time of the survey was charted. Next, the respondents were asked which factors had had an impact on their employment after graduation (e.g. major/minor subjects, internship, work experience, personal networks). Questions also covered how important certain skills and know-how were in the respondents' current job and how well their studies had developed these skills (e.g. theoretical or practical knowledge of their field, problem solving, managerial skills, negotiation skills, project management, and communication in English). Background variables included the respondent's gender, age at the time of graduation (categorised), monthly gross income (top-coded), the university they attended, and information on the degree (field of study, number of credits required for the degree, degree level)

Vastaajat myös kertoivat, mitkä tekijät vaikuttivat heidän lapsensa jatko-opintovalintaan. Vanhemmilta kysyttiin myös, mistä he olivat saaneet tietoa ammatillisesta koulutuksesta. The survey charted the perceptions and opinions of parents of ninth-graders regarding vocational education and their child's plans after completing lower secondary education. Main themes included, among others, the parents' opinions on studying and perceptions of how general and vocational upper secondary education are appreciated. The study was commissioned by the Ministry of Education and Culture and Skills Finland. Data collection was conducted by IROResearch. First, opinions on studying were examined with various attitudinal statements concerning, for example, whether the respondents thought that studying was interesting, that working was more interesting than studying, and whether they were interested in how their child succeeded in their studies. The respondents were asked whether their child would continue into upper secondary education after completing lower secondary school, how interesting they thought different paths of education were for their children (e.g. general or vocational upper secondary education, tenth grade) and which educational path they thought their child should choose after completing lower secondary education. Factors the respondents thought should affect their child's choice when applying to upper secondary education (e.g. wanting to have a job with good pay, location of the school/educational facility, parents' or the child's opinions) were also surveyed. If the respondents indicated that their child should choose vocational education or training after lower secondary school, they were asked which field of vocational education (e.g. humanities and arts, natural sciences, information and communication technologies) they thought would be suitable for their child. Finally, the sources of the respondents' information on vocational education, such as school in general, their child or TV/radio, were charted. Background variables included the respondent's gender, mother tongue, municipality of residence, region of residence (NUTS3), their own and their spouse's highest level of education and occupation group, and whether their child had received any special support in school during the past two years

The survey charted the employment situation and job placement of persons who had graduated with either a Master's degree or a Licentiate of Medicine degree from the University of Tampere in 2016. The survey was divided into three parts: current employment status and employment history, factors affecting employment, and happiness with employment situation and degree. The first part of the survey examined the current employment and the employment history of the respondents. This included questions about the type and length of current employment and the type of employment the respondents had had during their studies. The second part of the survey charted which factors had been the most important in obtaining their current job (e.g. degree, work experience, motivation) and which factors may have hindered or prevented them from finding a job (e.g. lack of work experience, poor labour market situation in their field, gender). The respondents were also asked about the channels they used when looking for work (e.g. whether they used online recruitment portals). In the third part of the survey, satisfaction with current employment situation and how well the job corresponded with the respondent's education and goals were investigated. The respondents were also asked about their satisfaction with the degree programmes at Tampere University. The respondents' views on how well their education had provided them with useful skills and abilities that were relevant in their current job were charted with questions relating to, for example, information seeking skills, social skills, language skills, problem solving skills and managerial skills. Finally, the respondents were asked whether they were higher education students at the time of responding or were planning to study for a degree in the next 12 months, as well as whether they had completed teacher training. Background variables included the respondent's gender and province of residence as well as information on the degree (degree programme, faculty, field of study, possible previous degree and time of starting studies)

This dataset consists of four interviews with adult social work clients in Tampere, Finland. Aineistossa selvitettiin 6-vuotiaiden lasten tapoja liikkua ja viettää vapaa-aikaa. Aineistoa varten haastateltiin 6-vuotiaita ja heidän vanhempiaan. Tiedonkeruun rahoitti valtion nuorisoneuvosto. Ensin lapsen vanhemmalta kysyttiin taustatietoja. Lapset kertoivat, millä tavalla he liikkuvat, ja mikä heidän mielestään liikkumisessa on kivaa. Lapset myös kertoivat, millä tavalla he haluaisivat liikkua. The study charted how 6-year-old Finnish children exercised and spent their leisure time. Both the children and their parents were interviewed for the study. The study was funded by the State Youth Council. First, the parents were asked about their children's hobbies, participation in instructed activities during leisure time and the amount of exercise they got. Reasons behind the child not exercising (e.g. they did not like exercise, had no time or had a fear of not succeeding) were also charted. The parents whose children did exercise were asked whether various statements corresponded to their children's exercise activities and hobbies, for example, whether the child found it fun and found friends through the hobby and whether the instruction was of good quality educationally. Views were also charted on what the parents thought the children's hobbies should be like by presenting the same statements as in the previous question. Finally, the parents were asked to evaluate how much they paid for their children's exercise activities and hobbies per month. After the parents had completed their survey, the children were interviewed. They were asked how they exercised, what was fun about exercising and how they would want to exercise. The children's opinions on good exercise places were also charted, as well as whether they thought competing with others was fun. The children's leisure time was examined with questions concerning what they liked or did not like to do on the weekends. They were also asked whether the exercise activities and hobbies their parents had mentioned were fun for them, whether they had friends and whether they wanted to have more friends. The background variables included the child's mother tongue, age and area of residence, as well as the parents' level of education, financial circumstances and the number of children and parents/guardians in the family
