Seuraavaksi tiedusteltiin palvelun vaikuttavuutta kysymällä, miten sosiaalitoimen asiakkuus on vaikuttanut omaan elämäntilanteeseen, onko palvelu vastannut odotuksia ja miten vastaajat suhtautuvat tulevaisuuteensa. This survey charted client satisfaction with adult social work and basic social assistance services provided by the Sarvis service point in Tampere. Themes of the survey included applying for basic social assistance, visits to the Sarvis service point, effectiveness of services, and the respondents' sources of information on social work services. First, the respondents' experiences of applying for basic social assistance were examined. Questions included, for example, whether the respondents thought the application for basic social assistance was clear and obtaining the necessary supporting documents had been easy for them. The respondents were also asked whether they thought they had been treated fairly during the process and whether they had understood the contents of the decision they had received regarding basic social assistance. Additionally, the respondents were asked whether they would prefer to apply for basic social assistance online, by post, or face-to-face during an appointment. Opinions on visiting the Sarvis service point were surveyed next with questions concerning the accessibility of the service point and the availability of services (e.g. whether they thought it was easy to book an appointment and whether enough time had been reserved for the appointment). Further questions examined the interaction and relationship between the client and social work employee during client meetings (e.g. whether the respondents thought the interaction had been empathetic and attentive in nature, they had received information on relevant services, and they could discuss difficult matters with the employee). The respondents' views on the effectiveness of social work services were charted with questions on whether their situation in life had improved or worsened after becoming a client of social work services and whether the services had met their expectations. The respondents' confidence in their future and future expectations were also surveyed. Finally, the respondents' sources of information on social work services (e.g. the Internet, service point employees, school/educational institution, newspaper) were investigated. Background variables included the respondent's age group, gender, level of education, household composition, number of children aged under 18 living in the household, economic activity and occupational status, length of possible unemployment period, and mother tongue. Information was also collected on the respondent's social services clienthood
Substance Abuse Treatment in Outpatient Clinics: Client Meetings 2008-2009
Kultakin 36 asiakkaalta on pyritty taltioimaan kaksi tapaamista. Aineistosta on tehty html-versio, jonka hakemiston avulla kirjoituksia on helppo selata. This dataset consists of counselling session discussions between A-clinic employees and clients regarding the client's substance use and the causes and consequences connected to it. The aim was to record two meetings for each of the 36 clients. The data were collected as part of a research project on the adherence of motivational interviewing in the initial substance abuse setting and its effect on clients' substance abuse harm reduction (the MISA project), funded by the Academy of Finland. This qualitative dataset consists of transcriptions of the client meeting discussions. This dataset can be connected to the quantitative dataset FSD3367 Substance Abuse Treatment in Outpatient Clinics: Pre- and Post-treatment Surveys 2007-2010, which consists of pre-treatment surveys, evaluations of the client meeting discussions by both the A-clinic counsellor and the client, and post-treatment surveys. The respondents in the two datasets can be connected with a unique client number. The discussions examined the client's objectives regarding their substance use and their motivation to stop or reduce their use of substances. The counsellors and clients also discussed the client's situation in life more widely, focusing on their family, employment and health. During the meetings, the clients completed the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT), which was then discussed between the counsellor and client. The client's need for medication, rehabilitation or other support as part of their treatment plan was also charted during the discussions. Most of the clients in the data identify alcohol as their principal opiate, but the data include users of cannabis, amphetamine and buprenorphine as well. Background information for this dataset included the following information based on the quantitative dataset: unique client number, date of client meeting, categorised age of the client, the client's gender, marital status, principal opiate and whether the client had children. The data were organised into an easy to use HTML version at FSD. The dataset is only available in Finnish

Young Women's Happiness Survey 2016 and 2018
Lisäksi aineistossa on muutamia vastaajaryhmäkohtaisia taustamuuttujia. The survey charted young Finnish women's views on happiness and the opposite of happiness. The data consist of responses from two age groups: 16 - 19 years old (N: 227) and 29 - 34 years old (N: 189). The data are mostly available in English, but other related materials such as the questionnaires are in Finnish. The young women's views on happiness were examined with a word association task. The respondents were first asked to think about the word 'happiness' and write down the first five words or thoughts that came to their mind. Then, the respondents were asked to write down the first five words or thoughts that came to mind when they thought about the opposite of happiness. The words the respondents wrote down during the two word association tasks are included in the data in English and Finnish (e.g. in q1_1: family = perhe). After the word association task, the respondents were asked to complete several sentences that related to happiness. The topics of the sentences surveyed the respondents' own happiness as well as their assumptions regarding the happiness of men and women in general. Finally, the respondents evaluated their own happiness and the happiness of other women in a similar life situation on a scale 0-10. Background variables included the respondent's age, citizenship/nationality, municipality of residence, household composition, degree of religiosity, and whether the respondent felt that one or more people she knew were her good friends. Additionally, some background variables specific to the two age groups were included
Social Distinctions in Modern Russia 2006
This study is part of a survey series that charts various issues characterising social differentiation in contemporary Russian society. The surveys in the series have been conducted in 1990, 1998, 2006 and 2015, facilitating research on temporal change. Social differentiation in this study was mainly considered in terms of occupation, social mobility, property and income, but attitudes, politics and religion were also examined. The study aimed to survey the respondents' conditions in life together with their values in order to examine the interaction between the two. Many questions in the survey concerned the respondents' working life. Questions focused on, for example, which sector the respondents worked in, what kind of company they worked for, what kind of responsibilities and obligations the respondents had in their work, whether the respondents were in a decision-making position at work, and what kind of equipment they used regularly in their work. Additionally, the respondents were asked whether they had been unemployed, laid off or part-time employed in the past 12 months and if yes, how they had managed economically at the time (e.g. whether they received benefits from the employer or state or support from family or friends). The survey also included questions on the respondents' family, media use, owned property, political and social activity, and language competence. The most important sources of income for the respondents' family as well as the benefits they received from the state or from employers were examined. The newspapers and magazines the respondents read most frequently were charted, and the respondents were asked whether they owned various property and items, such as their own house or car, a washing machine, pager/mobile phone, and computer. The respondents' political activity was charted with questions on, for example, whether they had signed a petition or taken part in a strike in 2005 or 2006. Questions on social participation focused on whether the respondents took part in the activities of or formally belonged to, for example, religious, ecological or youth organisations. Finally, the respondents were asked about their sources of information for various matters, such as the Russian economy, regional political life, events in the world, and cultural events. Opinions on censorship were examined (e.g. whether they thought that criticism of the President or information on sexual minorities should be banned, limited or allowed free circulation in the media). The respondents' trust in various institutions (e.g. the President, Government, Russian army, and Russian orthodox church) and opinions on the significance of different conditions in providing advancement in society were surveyed. The respondents were asked to evaluate the importance of, for example, coming from a rich family, good education, hard work, contacts abroad, and luck both as it was eight years ago (1998) and at the time of the survey. Some questions also focused on the respondents' views on their own identity and the characteristics of a good citizen. Background variables included, among others, the respondent's employment history, status in employment, working hours, education, marital status, number of children, household size, income, owned household durable goods, religious affiliation, nationality, gender, age, and type of municipality of residence
Language Barometer 2008
Lisäksi vastaajilta kysyttiin saavatko tai yrittävätkö he saada kunnallisia palveluita omalla kielellään ja kuinka hyvin he tuntevat kielelliset oikeutensa. The Language Barometer has measured the quality of language services in bilingual Finnish municipalities since 2004. All 43 bilingual municipalities in Finland were included in the study. The aim of the study was to find out how satisfied minority language speakers were with the municipal and state services offered in their mother tongue. The study was funded by the Ministry of Justice and the Swedish Cultural Foundation in Finland. First, the respondents' use of Finnish and Swedish in different contexts was charted (e.g. in shops, school, local public transport, at work etc.), and the respondents were asked about their mother tongue and language skills. Experiences of municipal and state services were surveyed with questions on whether the respondents had received the services in the language they first used during their visit as well as how they would rate the services on a scale 4-10 from the perspective of minority language users. The surveyed municipal and state services included, for example, social and health care services, libraries, sports facilities, and local tax offices. The respondents were asked to evaluate how their language use differed during weekdays and the weekend. The study also examined whether the respondents' children went to a Finnish or Swedish-speaking school. Finally, the respondents' opinions were examined on the availability of municipal and state services in their mother tongue, and they were asked whether they thought the services had developed for the better or for the worse in the previous few years. Views on whether special measures should be taken to preserve Swedish-language service in the future were also charted. Additionally, the respondents' views on the relationship between Swedish and Finnish speakers in their municipality and their awareness of their linguistic rights were surveyed. Background variables included the respondent's age (categorised), gender, mother tongue, municipality of residence, highest level of education, marital status, employment status, and household size

Seuraavaksi kartoitettiin näkemyksiä hyvästä vanhemmuudesta ja yhteiskunnan tuesta lapsiperheille. Lisäksi kysyttiin mielipiteitä erilaisiin lapsiperheisiin liittyviin väittämiin. Lopuksi kartoitettiin vastaajan suhtautumista erilaisiin väestöryhmiin. Taustamuuttujina ovat sukupuoli, ikä, käynti ansiotyössä, ammatti, talouden elämäntilanne, kotona olevien lasten ikä, lasten lukumäärä, talouden vuositulot, talouden koko, koulutus, asuinkunnan asukasmäärä, kuntaluokitus, suuralue ja maakunta. The study surveyed Finnish opinions on issues related to families with children, inequality and support provided by the society. The study was commissioned by a coordination project of the Central Union for Child Welfare funded by the Funding Centre for Social Welfare and Health Organisations (STEA). The study was financed with the funds received from the former Finland's Slot Machine Association. The respondents were first asked their views on the most significant reasons for poverty in families with children, harmfulness of different growth environments on child development (e.g. divorced parents, a parent with substance abuse problem, living in a foster family), and the most important aspects of good parenthood. Regarding support from the society, the respondents were asked which kinds of families with children the society should support (e.g. families with a disabled child, families where a parent uses a lot of alcohol, families that have come to Finland as refugees). A number of statements were presented about support from the society, social and health care system and child education. The respondents were also asked which kinds of families they would prefer to have as neighbours. Opinions were charted on the measures of child protective services, such as whether it should be possible to take a child into care indefinitely (instead of temporarily) and whether involuntary adoption should be possible. Views were also surveyed on the rights of underaged asylum seekers and the use of experts by experience in social and health services. Regarding social conflict, the respondents were asked how united or divided Finland was as nation and how much tension there was between different groups (e.g. the left and the right, the wealthy and the needy, the rural and the urban population). Finally, the respondents were asked how much an increase and decrease of 250 euros to their income would affect their well-being. Background variables included the respondent's gender, age, economic activity and education as well as household composition, ages of children living in the household, annual gross income of the household, municipality type, number of inhabitants in the municipality of residence, major region and region
Finnish Working Life Barometer 2017
Työolobarometrit selvittävät suomalaisen työelämän laatua palkansaajien näkökulmasta. Vuoden 2017 työolobarometri käsitteli mm. työpaikan henkilöstössä ja omassa työnkuvassa tapahtuneita muutoksia, vaikutusmahdollisuuksia, syrjintää, työpaikkakiusaamista, työkykyä sekä työntekijöiden näkemyksiä omasta työtilanteesta ja työelämän kehityksestä. Työolobarometrien sisältö on pysynyt pääosin samanlaisena eri vuosina. The annual survey studied employee opinion on the quality of working life in Finland. Main themes included organisation of work, development opportunities and flexibility, learning and training at work, wages, workplace bullying, capacity to work, and changes in working life. Questions in the barometer have mainly remained the same each year. The 2017 collection round included one new question regarding the flexibility of working hours. First, the respondents were asked about the number of people employed at their workplace, changes in the number of staff, distribution of work and tasks, and implementation of new working methods and systems over the past 12 months. Satisfaction in the working environment was charted with questions about openness, encouragement and equality in the workplace, job stability, and opportunities for employees to develop and apply new ideas. Further questions covered measures taken to improve employees' capacity to work, safety of work environment, and skills of employees. Discrimination at work based on ethnic group, age, gender, type of job contract, and health status was explored. Incidents of bullying, harassment and violence at work were surveyed. The next set of questions investigated the respondents' membership in a trade union or professional association, flexible working time arrangements at the workplace, pay and bonus systems, and satisfaction with the pay level. The respondents' participation in job-related training and the development of the workplace was investigated. The use of virtual workspaces and social media services such as Facebook, Twitter and blogs as part of work tasks was charted. Autonomy at work was surveyed by asking about influence over own work tasks and working pace, over the distribution of work in the workplace, and about working to a tight schedule. The respondents were asked about working outside the main workplace as well as work-related calls, emails and messages they had had to attend to outside their official working hours in the past 12 months. One set of questions investigated the employees' perceived workload, capacity to work, estimates of own mental and physical capacity to work, and sickness absences. The respondents were asked how likely they thought it was that they would be dismissed or temporarily laid off, or that their tasks would change over the next year. Views were probed on the respondents' likelihood of getting an equal job if they became unemployed, on the general employment situation in Finland, possible changes in working life in general, and the employer's financial situation. Finally, the respondents were asked how often they felt a community spirit at work, received appreciation from colleagues and partners, were able to fully utilise their professional skills, and had time to come up with new ideas. Background variables included, among others, the respondent's year of birth, age, gender, status in employment, employer type, weekly working hours, industry of employment, overtime, type of contract, and socioeconomic status
Finnish University Graduates of Year 2011: Career and Employment Survey 2016
The survey charted the career and employment situations of people who had graduated from Finnish universities with a lower (BA/BSc or equivalent) or higher (MA/MSc or equivalent) degree in 2011. The survey was conducted five years after graduation. The first part investigated the respondents' education and work history. They were asked whether they had, after graduation, participated in job-related training, career guidance or any additional professional qualification or higher education studies. The respondents were asked whether they agreed or disagreed with a set of attitudinal statements regarding their degree and its usefulness for employment. Further questions covered how many employers the respondents had had, whether the respondents had been entrepreneurs, self-employed or freelancers, and whether they had been outside the labour market because of a family leave or unemployment. The respondents' satisfaction with their career thus far was charted, along with current occupational status, type of employer, and type of current work tasks as well as the work tasks of their first job after graduation. The respondents were also asked whether the first job after graduation had required an academic degree, whether it had been commensurate with their qualification, and if not, why they had accepted the job. It was also examined to what extent the respondents had been able to utilise knowledge and skills gained during their university studies. Monthly gross income at the time of the survey was charted. Next, the respondents were asked which factors had had an impact on their employment after graduation (e.g. major/minor subjects, internship, work experience, personal networks). Questions also covered how important certain skills and know-how were in the respondents' current job and how well their studies had developed these skills (e.g. theoretical or practical knowledge of their field, problem solving, managerial skills, negotiation skills, project management, and communication in English). Background variables included the respondent's gender, age at the time of graduation (categorised), monthly gross income (top-coded), NUTS3 region of residence, the university they attended, and information on the degree (field of study, number of credits required for the degree, degree level)
Attractiveness of Teacher Education: Focus Group Interviews 2020
Tämän kvalitatiivisen aineiston lisäksi hankkeessa kerättiin Tietoarkistoon arkistoitu kvantitatiivinen kyselyaineisto FSD3459 Opettajankoulutuksen vetovoima: kyselyt 2020.The data contain the transcripts of five focus group interviews exploring the views of upper secondary school students on teacher education and teaching profession in Finland.
