Vuoden 2020 International Social Survey Programme (ISSP) -väestökysely käsitteli ympäristöä. Teemoja olivat mm. ilmastonmuutos, kierrättäminen, ympäristöön liittyvät poliittiset mielipiteet, saastuttaminen ja vastuut ympäristöongelmien ratkaisussa. Aineisto koostuu suomalaisilta kerätystä kyselystä. Ympäristöaiheisia ISSP-keruita on kertynyt vuoteen 2020 mennessä Suomesta kolme. The 2020 International Social Survey Programme (ISSP) studied Finnish views on nature and the environment. Main themes included climate change, environmental problems, pollution, environmental conservation, what people would be willing to do for the environment and what were important issues for society in general. The 2020 survey is the third survey in the ISSP environment module collected in Finland. The respondents were asked what issues they considered important in Finland (e.g. health care, education, the economy, the environment) and what were the most important things the country should do (maintain order, give people more say in government decisions, fight rising prices, protect freedom of speech). They were also asked to what extent they agreed with statements relating to how to solve income inequality and Finland's economic problems. Interpersonal trust and trust in government and politicians were also surveyed. Next questions focused on the environment. Views were probed on the most important environmental problems in Finland and the solutions to such problems. The respondents were also asked about climate change and its impacts for the world as a whole and for Finland. Willingness to protect the environment through higher prices, higher taxes or cuts in the standard of living was surveyed. Additionally, willingness to accept a reduction in the size of Finland's protected nature areas in order to open them up for economic development was charted. A number of statements charted the respondents' attitudes to environmental protection. Opinions were also probed on how dangerous for the environment certain things (e.g. air pollution, pesticides and chemicals in farming, water pollution, climate change, modifying the genes of crops) were and what were the best ways to protect the environment. Finally, the respondents' relationship with nature was examined with questions on, for instance, how often they engaged in leisure activities outside, how many trips they had made by plane in the past twelve months, how often they ate meat or meat products, and how often they recycled. Background variables included the respondent's gender, age, years of full-time education, type of employer, legal marital/partnership status, trade union membership, religious affiliation, religious attendance, self-perceived social group, party affiliation, voting, household composition, R's and household income, and R's and spouse's/partner's employment relationship, working hours, occupational status, occupation and economic activity

The annual survey charted Finnish public opinion on foreign policy, defence policy, security, military alliances, military service, and international armed conflicts at the time of the survey. Some questions examined views on factors affecting safety and security. Opinions were charted on the success of foreign policy in the previous few years, funds allocated to the Defence Forces, whether Finland should resort to armed defence in case of any sort of attack, whether the respondents would be prepared to participate in national defence according to their abilities, and how the global security situation would develop in the next five years. Views were probed on the current, conscription-based defence system and whether women should also participate in conscription. The respondents were asked whether Finland should form military alliances and whether Finland should apply for NATO membership. Next, the respondents were asked how different issues affected the safety and security of Finland. These included, among others, Finland's EU membership, potential NATO membership, participation in the EU defence and in international crisis management, and military non-alignment. Satisfaction with defence policy in the previous few years was investigated. Views were charted on Finnish military cooperation in the EU, with NATO, other Nordic countries, and the United States. The respondents were asked to evaluate what effect several countries and organisations, such as Russia, China, US, UN, and EU had on Finland's security. Views were also examined on the military situation in nearby regions during the next decade. Concern caused by certain phenomena and issues was charted, such as withdrawals from arms controls agreements, climate change, various infectious diseases and epidemics, proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, organised crime, international terrorism, fake news, cyberthreats, political extremism, racism, employment, and current developments in the EU, Russia, Middle East and Ukraine. The respondents were asked whether their trust in the future of the European Union had weakened, strengthened or stayed the same. They were also asked about their views on how Finland had succeeded in controlling the coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic. Next, the respondents were asked to evaluate Finland's preparedness for the prevention of various security threats, such as armed attack, energy supply issues, infectious diseases and epidemics, environmental hazards, political pressure from other states, economic crisis, terrorism, and attacks against information systems and networks. Background variables included, among others, the respondent's gender, age, economic activity and occupational status, economic activity and occupational status of the household head, household composition, ages of children living at home (categorised), gross annual income of the household, level of education, type of accommodation, region of residence, number of inhabitants in the municipality of residence, political party choice in the previous parliamentary elections, and political party choice if the parliamentary elections were held at the time of the survey

Kysymyksiä on poimittu mm. The data consist of three surveys aimed at the long-term unemployed. The surveys charted the unemployed persons' social participation, mental and physical well-being, work motivation, and use of social and health services. Main themes in the surveys included, among others, living conditions, quality of life, social relationships, use of social and health services, and lifestyle. The baseline survey was conducted at the beginning of the research and the two follow-up surveys three and six months after the baseline survey. The data were collected as part of the Inclusive Promotion of Health and Wellbeing (PROMEQ 2016-2019) research project, which studied population groups that need special support. The aim of the PROMEQ project was to develop and demonstrate novel models of promotion of health and wellbeing. Survey data from the other target groups of the project as well as combined data from all surveys are also available at FSD (FSD3433-FSD3436). The surveys included many scales and questions used in other studies. Questions were selected, for instance, from the Finnish Youth Surveys, as well as the Regional Health and Well-being Study (ATH) and Welfare and Services in Finland (HYPA) surveys conducted by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL). Most questions included in the baseline survey were repeated in the follow-up surveys. First, the surveys charted the respondents' living conditions, income, loans and need for financial aid or food assistance. The respondents' health, well-being and quality of life was examined with questions on, for example, how satisfied the respondents were with their health, how much they had enjoyed life in the past two weeks, how safe and secure they felt in their everyday life, and whether they had enough energy and drive for their daily life. Satisfaction with different spheres of life was also surveyed with questions regarding, for example, quality of sleep, capacity to work, relationships, and support received from friends. Social relationships and trust were examined next. The respondents were asked whether they often felt lonely and whether they had ever been discriminated based on factors such as age, gender, ethnicity, or financial situation. Questions also focused on the respondents' sociability and feelings of belonging (e.g. whether they felt they were a part of a friend group, had much in common with people around them, and could find company when they wanted to, or whether they felt left out and isolated). The respondents' participation in group activities was charted, and trust in other people and various institutions, such as public health care, the judicial system, and municipal decision-making, was examined. The respondents' opinions on their own opportunities in life were also surveyed (e.g. whether they thought they had good or bad opportunities to strive for happiness in their life and to act according to their conscience). Next, the respondents were asked about work, unemployment and their plans for the future. Work motivation was examined with questions on, for example, how many times the respondents had applied for a job in the last six months and how willing they were at present to work full-time or part-time or set up their own company. Views on employment were investigated with questions on, for example, whether the respondents found it important to be employed and whether they thought they needed more training to become employed again. The respondents were also asked to evaluate their own capacity to work and study. Future plans were surveyed with questions focusing on the respondents' dreams, hopes and goals for their future. Finally, the respondents' use of social and health services was surveyed. The respondents were asked whether they had visited a doctor or other health or social services professional or received services that promote employment in the past 12 months (6 months in the follow-up survey). Additionally, the respondents were asked whether they had bought medication or been in contact with an employment services employee or other social or health care employee in the past 12 months. Questions also focused on basic social assistance, the respondents' satisfaction with the availability of various social and public services (e.g. library, indoor exercise and youth services), and their participation in group activities promoting health and well-being (e.g. weight management groups, AA, NA). The respondents' lifestyle was also examined with questions on their exercise, eating and drinking habits. Background variables included, among others, the respondent's gender, year of birth, marital status, household composition, housing tenure, highest level of education, economic activity and occupational status, and household income. Additionally, the background information collected included whether the respondent belonged to the control or test group as well as their matched pair number

Aineisto koostuu ilman vakituista parisuhdetta elävien 25-64 -vuotiaiden miesten kirjoituksista. The dataset consists of 17 texts, written by men aged 25-64 who were living without a steady relationship. Tietoarkistosta on saatavilla taiteilijoille suunnatun kyselyn vastausaineisto. Kyselyn avulla kartoitettiin taiteilijoiden itsensä suhdetta liikkuvuuteen. Tutkimushanke on Opetus- ja kulttuuriministeriön rahoittama. Aluksi vastaajilta kysyttiin taustatietoja muun muassa vuonna 2017 haetuista liikkumistuista. The Arts and Culture Barometer is an annual survey conducted in collaboration by the Center for Cultural Policy Research (CUPORE) and Arts Promotion Centre Finland (TAIKE). The theme of the Arts and Culture Barometer 2018 was the mobility of art and artists. The data for the barometer were collected with two surveys: the first survey was directed at organisations that provide funding for artists and the second survey at the artists themselves. The data from the artist survey are available at FSD. The survey charted artists' perceptions and experiences of mobility both in general and in their own work. First, the respondents were asked whether they had performed artistic work or earned an arts-related degree outside Finland and whether they had applied for a mobility grant in 2017. The respondents' views on various matters relating to mobility support, such as the importance of travel grants, subsidies for artistic activities, networking and production support, and interdisciplinary cooperation, were surveyed. The locations where the respondents had worked or would prefer to work outside their place of residence were examined (e.g. elsewhere in Finland, in Western or Eastern Europe, in Asia). Next, the respondents were asked whether they agreed or disagreed with several statements regarding the reasons and motives behind mobility of art and artists. The statements included, for instance, whether the respondents thought that art develops without mobility, the main motive for working abroad is to be inspired and stimulated, and establishing relationships with art institutes, other artists, or art schools is a key aspect of mobility. The respondents' opinions on the mobility of artists in practice were charted with statements concerning, for instance, whether they thought that they would be interested in working abroad, working abroad should be possible for as many Finnish artists as possible, and they would have better opportunities abroad to develop in their career. Statements were also presented regarding the forms of support available for mobility, including, for instance, whether the respondents thought that different forms of support were sufficient and easy to obtain, the work of foreign artists in Finland should be supported more, and the process of awarding support for mobility should be simplified and accelerated. Finally, the respondents were asked whether they agreed or disagreed with various statements on mobility-related values (e.g. whether they thought that promoting equality should be a more important basis for supporting mobility and mobility support should be more bilateral) and equality (e.g. whether equality is realised in the arts sector). General views on art, working as an artist, and grants and other support were also surveyed with statements concerning, for example, whether the respondents thought art should be of high standard and quality, and available and accessible to all, whether an artist is any person who defines him- or herself as an artist, a person whose main income comes from artistic work, or a person who is recognised as an artist by the artist community, and whether the amount of artist grants should be increased and the duration extended. Background variables included the respondent's art field, gender, age, municipality of residence, mother tongue, employment status, and highest level of education

Eriteltyjä kunnallisia palveluita (kuten sairaalahoito, kirjasto, liikuntapaikat) pyydettiin arvioimaan kouluarvosanoilla. Vastaajilta kysyttiin saavatko he tai yrittävätkö he saada erilaisia palveluita omalla kielellään ja kuinka hyvin he tuntevat kielelliset oikeutensa. The Language Barometer has measured the quality of language services in bilingual Finnish municipalities since 2004. All 30 bilingual municipalities in Finland were included in the study. Additionally, the 2012 barometer included eight monolingual municipalities. The aim of the study was to find out how satisfied minority language speakers were with the municipal and state services offered in their mother tongue. The study was funded by the Ministry of Justice and the Swedish Cultural Foundation in Finland. First, the respondents' use of Finnish and Swedish in different contexts was charted (e.g. in shops, school, local public transport, at work etc.), and the respondents were asked about their mother tongue and language skills. The study also examined whether the respondents' children went to a Finnish or Swedish-speaking school. Experiences of municipal and state services were surveyed with questions on whether the respondents had received the services in the language they first used during their visit as well as how they would rate the services on a scale 4-10 from the perspective of minority language users. The surveyed municipal and state services included, for example, social and health care services, libraries, sports facilities, and local tax offices. Next, the respondents were asked to evaluate how their language used differed during weekdays and the weekend. The respondents' opinions on the availability of municipal and state services in their mother tongue were examined, and they were asked whether they thought the services had developed for the better or for the worse in the previous few years. Views on whether special measures should be taken to preserve Swedish-language service in the future were charted. Finally, the respondents' views on the relationship between Swedish and Finnish speakers in their municipality and their awareness of their linguistic rights were surveyed. Background variables included the respondent's age (categorised), gender, mother tongue, municipality of residence, highest level of education, marital status, employment status, and household size

Mökkibarometri on mökkeilyn kehitystä kuvaava seurantatutkimus. The survey studied the use of Finnish free-time residences and holidays homes and its development. Similar surveys were also conducted in 2003 and 2008. The 2015 survey was commissioned and funded by the Island Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and conducted by FCG Finnish Consulting Group. Spending time at a free-time residence (mökki) is a widespread phenomenon in Finland with deep historical and cultural roots, forming a significant part of domestic tourism. In this survey, the term "free-time residence" refers to rural recreational residences (holiday homes, cottages) mainly used during weekends and holidays, especially during summertime. The use of the free-time residence was charted by asking the respondents, for example, about the distance between their free-time residence and permanent residence in kilometres and hours, the location of their free-time residence, and its suitability for year-round habitation. They were also asked to indicate the number of days their holiday home had been used each month in the previous 12 months as well as the number of people who had spent at least one night there. Willingness to rent out the residence to other people was also queried. The respondents were asked whether their use of the residence had increased or decreased in the previous three years, and to estimate whether it would increase or decrease in the following three years. In addition, they were asked whether a household member had commuted to work from or worked remotely from the second home, and whether they themselves would be willing to telework there. Questions related to the standard of equipment covered the total floorage, access to electricity, heating, and various equipment in the free-time residence. Views were also probed on the accommodation capacity, improvements made in the last 12 months, and future improvements. In addition, the respondents were asked to rate the overall state of the main building. Water supply and waste disposal was investigated with questions about sources of water for drinking, cooking and washing, wastewater management, type of outhouse, and waste management. Service provision at the free-time residence was charted by asking the distance to the nearest services (e.g. grocery store, health centre, library, post office, bus stop). The respondents were asked whether they or a household member had plans to officially move to the municipality where the residence was located. Satisfaction with various services available in the proximity of the residence was canvassed as well as willingness to buy various services. In addition, the respondents were asked whether they usually bought groceries and other goods and services from a store/company located in their municipality of residence, along the way, or in the municipality where the free-time residence was located. Final questions charted the use of money. The respondents were asked about the average amount of money used per each day spent at the free-time residence, and the amount of money spent on building or repairing the residence, purchasing goods, and using services close to the residence in the previous 12 months. In addition, the annual amount of various fees and user charges related to the residence (e.g. real property tax, private road fees, harbour and quay dues, and waste collection, electricity, waste water, and telephone charges) was queried. Background variables included the respondent's economic activity, household size and monthly gross income, and region where the free-time residence was located

Kysymyksiä on poimittu mm. The survey charted immigrants' social participation, mental and physical well-being, use of social and health services, experiences of discrimination, and attitudes towards work. The data consist of two surveys aimed at immigrants, which were conducted in English: a baseline survey conducted at the beginning of the research (variable id q) and a follow-up survey conducted six months after the baseline survey (variable id b). The data were collected as part of the Inclusive Promotion of Health and Wellbeing (PROMEQ 2016-2019) research project, which studied population groups that need special support. The aim of the PROMEQ project was to develop and demonstrate novel models of promotion of health and wellbeing. Survey data from the other target groups of the project as well as combined data from all surveys are also available at FSD (FSD3432-FSD3436). The surveys included many scales and questions used in other studies. The scales and questions were translated into English for the surveys. Questions were selected, for instance, from the Finnish Youth Surveys, as well as the Regional Health and Well-being Study (ATH) and Welfare and Services in Finland (HYPA) surveys conducted by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL). Most questions included in the baseline survey were repeated in the follow-up survey. First, the respondents' current situation in life and language skills were charted. The respondents were asked, for instance, when they had arrived in Finland, on what grounds they had been granted a residence permit, whether they could understand, read and speak Finnish, and how they had learned Finnish (e.g. by taking courses or from friends). Studies and work were examined next with questions focusing on, for example, whether the respondents were planning to apply for higher education in Finland, whether they thought they were fully able to work in Finland, and whether they were confident in their search for work. The main obstacles that the respondents thought might prevent them from working were also surveyed (e.g. limited language skills, lack of education, ethnic background). Views on employment were investigated with questions on, for example, whether the respondents thought doing paid work gives substance and meaning to life and whether women should stay at home and not work outside the home. The surveys also charted the respondents' income, loans and need for financial aid or food assistance. Next, the respondents' quality of life and satisfaction with various matters were examined. Questions included, for instance, how much the respondents enjoyed life, how safe they felt in their everyday life, whether they had enough energy, and how satisfied they were with their sleep, capacity to work, personal relationships, and access to health services. The respondents' social relationships were surveyed. The respondents were asked whether they often felt lonely and whether they were often in contact with other people, for example relatives or other immigrants living in Finland. Questions also focused on the respondents' sociability and feelings of belonging (e.g. whether they felt they were a part of a friend group, had much in common with people around them, and could find company when they wanted to, or whether they felt left out and isolated). The respondents' participation in group activities was charted, and trust in other people and various Finnish institutions, such as public health care, the judicial system, and municipal decision-making, was examined. The respondents' opinions on their own opportunities in life were also surveyed (e.g. whether they thought they had good or bad opportunities to strive for happiness in their life and to act according to their conscience). Experiences of unfair treatment and being discriminated against were surveyed next. The respondents were asked what they thought were the main factors (e.g. immigrant background, skin colour, age) behind the lack of respect, verbal insults, threats or harrassment they had received, as well as where they had experienced unfair treatment or discrimination (e.g. police station, KELA, a shop). Different traumatic experiences, such as combat experience, natural disasters, physical violence, and torture, were also investigated, and the respondents were asked whether the past traumatic events had effects on their life at present (e.g. in the form of disturbing dreams or feelings of shock). Finally, the respondents' use of social and health services was surveyed. The respondents were asked whether they had visited a doctor or other health or social services professional or received employment or translation services or juridical advice in the past 12 months (6 months in the follow-up survey). Additionally, the respondents were asked whether they had bought medication or been in contact with a social or health care employee in the past 12 months. Questions also focused on the respondents' satisfaction with the availability of various social and public services (e.g. library, indoor exercise and youth services), and their participation in group activities promoting health and well-being (e.g. weight management groups, AA, NA). The respondents' lifestyle was examined with questions on their exercise, eating and drinking habits. Background variables included, among others, the respondent's gender, year of birth, marital status, highest level of education, household composition, and economic activity and occupational status. Additionally, the background information included whether the respondent belonged to the test (intervention) or control group
