Aluksi lapsilta kysyttiin, onko heistä mukavaa käydä päiväkodissa, mistä asioista he pitävät päiväkodissa eniten ja mitä asioita he tekevät yhdessä päiväkotiopettajien kanssa. Toisessa osiossa kysyttiin, mistä asioista he eivät pidä päiväkodissa, ja miten he toimivat tällaisten asioiden suhteen. Lapsilta tiedusteltiin, kelle he kertovat epämukavista asioista ja keiltä he saavat niihin apua. The survey charted the experiences of preschool-aged children regarding preschool/day care, social activities, and encountering new situations. The data were collected as part of the Child-up research project, which aims to enhance understanding on the experiences of migrant children, young people, and their guardians regarding school, pre-school, and educational communities, as well as the experiences of the professionals working with them. The data were collected in Finland and Germany. The respondents included children both with and without immigrant backgrounds. The research project was funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation funding programme. First, the children were asked whether they liked going to preschool, what they liked best in preschool, and what kinds of things they did together with their preschool teacher. The children also told the interviewer whether they had friends in or outside the preschool and how they thought their friends would describe them as a person. Next, things that the children did not like at preschool were surveyed, and the children were asked how they dealt with these things (e.g. telling their parents about it or talking with their friends) as well as whether it helped them feel better. Communication with the preschool teacher was examined with questions on whether the children could talk to the teacher about their wishes or ideas and whether they thought the teacher listened to them. The children were asked about the things they thought they were good at as well as the things that had been difficult for them to learn. The children's ways of dealing with the things they did not learn or succeed at immediately were also surveyed (e.g. whether they kept trying or asked for help). The children told the interviewers what they wanted to learn next, whether they thought it would be easy or difficult for them, and who they could ask for help or support. Finally, the children were asked what they thought about encountering new situations such as going to primary school soon, and who they could talk to about these kinds of new situations. Background variables included the respondent's age, gender, immigrant background, country of birth, and mother tongue. Additional background information on the preschool group or class included the percentage of children with immigrant backgrounds in the group, number of different nationalities, and number of spoken languages

Kysyttiin myös kuinka oikeudenmukaisena he pitävät suomalaista yhteiskuntaa. The Citizens' Pulse surveys examine Finnish attitudes and opinions in the context of the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19). Main themes in the surveys include the activity and communication of authorities, compliance with regulations, future expectations, trust, and the respondents' own state of mind. This collection round also included questions on the Russian invasion of Ukraine and energy conservation. The eighth collection round of 2022 surveyed the respondents' trust in various institutions (e.g. the Finnish Government, the health care system, the media, and the Finnish Defence Forces). The respondents' state of mind was examined with questions on various matters relating to health, well-being, and their situation in life. The questions covered, for example, the respondents' own mental well-being, whether they were worried about the adequacy of their income, their confidence in their future, experiences of stress and togetherness, and whether they felt their lives were meaningful and safe. Additionally, the respondents were asked to evaluate whether an atmosphere of crisis prevailed amongst Finns. The next set of questions focused on the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The respondents were asked how concerned they were about the crisis in Ukraine and its effects, whether they were concerned about the possible impact of the war on the Finnish economy and the safety of Finland and Europe, and whether they were concerned that the war might expand beyond Ukraine. Opinions on the economic sanctions imposed on Russia by the EU, whether Finland should be ready to receive significant numbers of refugees from Ukraine if necessary, and whether the uncertainty caused by the Ukraine crisis had impacted the respondents' consumer behaviour were charted. On the topic of energy conservation, the respondents were asked how concerned they were about the changes in energy prices, whether they felt they had enough information about ways to conserve energy in their everyday lives, whether they believed that by taking energy-saving measures they could make a difference in the availability of energy during the coming months, and whether they had taken certain measures to lower their energy consumption during the past month (e.g. lowered the room temperature at home, driven less, reduced the use of electronic appliances at home, taken shorter showers). Concern over the coronavirus pandemic and its effects were surveyed. Compliance with coronavirus restrictions was examined by asking the respondents whether in the past week they had followed the restrictions and recommendations set by authorities for preventing transmission of the virus, including maintaining safe distances, wearing a face mask, and minimising contact with other people. The respondents were also asked how necessary they felt it was to follow measures such as wearing a mask and maintaining safe distances after receiving two or three doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Background variables included the respondent's gender, age group, NUTS3 region of residence, highest level of education, household composition, perceived financial situation of household, type of accommodation, and type of domestic heating system

The Citizens' Pulse surveys examine Finnish attitudes and opinions in the context of the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19). Main themes in the surveys include the activity and communication of authorities, compliance with regulations, future expectations, trust, and the respondents' own state of mind. The 16th collection round of 2021 surveyed the respondents' opinions on the reliability of the information provided by various Finnish authorities (e.g. the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare) and members of various groups (e.g. health care employees, researchers) on the coronavirus crisis. The respondents were asked to evaluate how fair or unfair they thought Finnish society was at present and how well Finnish authorities (including the Government, Ministries, and other authorities such as the police and the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare) had been prepared for epidemics such as COVID-19. The respondents' state of mind was examined with questions on various matters relating to health and well-being. The questions covered, for example, whether the respondents were worried about their own risk or the risk of people close to them contracting COVID-19, the availability of health care for them and people close to them for issues unrelated to COVID-19, and their own mental well-being. Additionally, the respondents were asked about their concerns in regard to livelihood and everyday life (e.g. whether they were worried about the adequacy of their income or the income of people close to them, the uncertainty regarding how long the exceptional circumstances would last, and their children's schooling). The respondents' confidence in their future and experiences of stress were surveyed, and the respondents were asked to evaluate whether an atmosphere of crisis prevailed amongst Finns. Next, the availability and findability of relevant information on the coronavirus crisis was charted. The respondents were asked to identify what sources of information they had used regularly to access information about COVID-19, and what would be their preferred sources of information about COVID-19. Compliance with coronavirus restrictions was examined by asking the respondents whether they had followed the restrictions and recommendations set by authorities for preventing transmission of the virus, including maintaining safe distances, washing hands regularly, wearing a face mask, avoiding touching the eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands, using a hand sanitiser when it was available in public places, and minimising contacts with people outside immediate family and friends. The respondents were also asked to estimate how closely other people had been following the restrictions and recommendations set by authorities, whether they had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and how necessary the respondents felt that it was to follow measures such as wearing a mask and maintaining safe distances after receiving two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Background variables included the respondent's gender, age group, NUTS3 region of residence, highest level of education, household composition, and perceived financial situation of household

Vastaajilta kysyttiin, ovatko he osallistuneet tulkkausta käsitteleviin koulutuksiin, ja mitä kieliä ja kieliresursseja he käyttävät työssään. Vastaajat ottivat kantaa siihen, kuinka hyvin he tulkkeina voivat esimerkiksi vähentää asiakkaiden etnistä stereotypisointia tai lisätä tietoisuutta kulttuurisesta moninaisuudesta. The survey charted the experiences of interpreters and language mediators regarding cultural pluralism, their work with children and young people, and communication in different languages. The data were collected as part of the Child-up research project, which aims to enhance understanding on the experiences of migrant children, young people, and their guardians regarding school, pre-school, and educational communities, as well as the experiences of the professionals working with them. The data were collected in Finland, Belgium, Germany, Sweden, Italy, Poland, and Great Britain. The research project was funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation funding programme. First, the respondents were asked whether they had participated in training that included elements of interpreting or intercultural mediation, as well as what languages and linguistic resources they used in their work as an interpreter or mediator (e.g. whether they provided translation to pupils or their parents, or interpretation between teaching staff and pupils). Communication with the pupils'/students' parents was surveyed with questions on the main communication channel the respondents used with parents, how satisfied they were with their communication with parents, and what in their experience were the main reasons for barriers and challenges in communication with parents. Next, the respondents' opinions regarding school support structure, integration and agency were examined. Questions focused on how often the respondents had encountered various situations in their work (e.g. a child who had difficulties with the language of instruction or trouble making their views understood), how they had discovered these situations (e.g. whether they had been contacted by a teacher or informed by parents), and who they had collaborated with to cope with these situations (e.g. school management, parents, other pupils). The respondents were also asked to evaluate different social relationships in the school/schools they worked at, as well as how well they thought they could, for example, cope with the challenges of a classroom, reduce ethnic stereotyping amongst students, and encourage the children to communicate their opinions and ideas. Finally, the respondents' satisfaction with various aspects related to their work was charted, and their opinions were surveyed on several statements relating to e.g. cultural pluralism. Background variables included the respondent's gender, work experience in years, level of education, ISCED level of their current school/workplace, country of birth, parents' country of birth, and immigrant background

The survey studied the values and identities of the five main linguistic minorities, Russian-, Estonian-, Somali-, English- and Arabic-speaking people, in the Helsinki capital region. The main theme of the survey was the self-image of the respondents as an individual and as part of different groups. The study was funded by E2 Research, Finnish Cultural Foundation, Ministry of Justice, and the cities of Helsinki, Espoo and Vantaa. First, the respondents were asked how many years they had lived in Finland and where they or their family were originally from. National identity was surveyed with questions on how the respondents viewed their nationality and whether they felt they were a part of Finnish society. Questions also focused on the significance of various regional and social factors, such as the respondent's current area of residence, being a European citizen, level of education, and cultural traditions, as contributors to the respondent's identity. The respondents were also asked to describe their family's social class during their childhood (e.g. whether their family was a working or middle class family). Next, the respondents' views on several statements were surveyed. The statements included, for example, whether the respondent thought that being Finnish was connected to one's ethnic background, that the media portrayed representatives of their minority group too negatively, and that Finland needs strong leadership so that social problems can be fixed without compromises. The importance of several things for the respondents, such as power, wealth, equality, and forgiveness, was charted. The respondents were also asked to consider what was extremely important for them in their life (e.g. health, love, children, traditions, safety and security). Finally, the respondents' trust in various authorities and organisations in Finland, such as the President, the justice system, banks, and large corporations, was examined. The respondents' trust in individuals was also charted. Background variables included, among others, the respondent's age group, gender, economic activity and occupational status, number of completed school years, country where R completed their highest level of education, household composition, mother tongue, which language R spoke at home, and the main reason why R moved to Finland

This survey, conducted by the newspaper Helsingin Sanomat in 2018, charted Finnish views on waste. The survey was conducted as part of the 'Waste Society: Living with Material Overflows' project funded by the Academy of Finland. Topics in the survey included, for instance, living with waste, attitudes towards waste, and a future of 'zero waste'. Additionally, the data include an open-ended question q28 "Is there something else you want to say regarding waste, waste disposal and the future of waste?", which received a large number of responses (N:2,051) and can be utilised in qualitative analysis. Open-ended responses are only available in Finnish. First, the respondents were asked whether they sorted their waste and into how many different categories they sorted their waste. The waste containers provided by the respondent's housing company were surveyed, as well as whether the respondents used all the different containers for sorting their waste. The respondents' attitudes towards waste were examined with questions on whether they thought waste was primarily an aesthetic, hygienic, or environmental matter, what kinds of feelings they had relating to waste (e.g. interest, guilt, responsibility), and whether their attitude towards or behaviour regarding waste and waste disposal had changed in the past year. Next, the respondents' views on problems and responsibility related to waste were charted. The respondents were asked, for instance, whether they thought that the development of technology would solve the world's problems with waste, that waste was not a significant problem, and whether reducing waste was primarily the responsibility of e.g. consumers, municipalities, or companies. Opinions on a 'zero waste' future were examined with questions on what the respondents thought would encourage them to reduce their waste and how they thought food, plastic and sewer waste should be disposed of in the future. Background variables included, among others, the respondent's gender, age, household composition, number of children and adults in the household, level of education, and monthly income of the household

Kirkon tutkimuskeskuksen toteuttamassa kyselyssä kartoitettiin, millaisia kokemuksia seurakunnissa on ollut eri puolella Suomea koronakriisin aikana. Aineisto on kerätty huhtikuussa 2020. Taustamuuttujana aineistossa on vastaajan rooli seurakunnassa (työntekijä tai luottamushenkilö).The survey charted the experiences of employees and elected officials of the parishes of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland in different parts of Finland during the COVID-19 crisis. The survey was conducted by the Church Research Institute in April 2020. 298 church employees and elected officials responded to the survey. The largest respondent groups were pastors/priests, diaconal workers, and youth work leaders. First, the respondents were asked whether their parish had adopted any new ways of carrying out their activities during the COVID-19 crisis (e.g. streaming church services online, home delivering food aid, increasing the amount of phone and online discussion help) and whether the crisis had left the parish with more people in need than before. Views were surveyed on whether the occurrence of several negative phenomena had increased among children, young people, people of working age, and pensioners in the parish. The phenomena included, for example, increases in substance abuse, mental health problems, and feelings of uncertainty. Next, the respondents were asked whether various subjects, such as reflections on a possible connection of the COVID-19 pandemic to end times and prophecies, had come up during discussions when people contacted the parish. Finally, the respondents' views were examined with open-ended questions on the most common causes of concern in the parishes at present as well as other potentially concerning phenomena that might emerge in the upcoming weeks or months. Background variables included the respondent's role in the parish (employee or elected official)

Opiskelijatutkimus käsittelee suomalaisten korkeakouluopiskelijoiden opintoihin hakeutumista, toimeentuloa, ajankäyttöä ja opiskeluun vaikuttavia tekijöitä. Lisäksi kartoitetaan opiskelijoiden kansainvälistä liikkuvuutta, tulevaisuuden odotuksia ja jatko-opintoihin liittyviä seikkoja. Aineisto on kerätty Eurostudent VI-tutkimuksessa. Hanketta rahoittaa Euroopan unioni Erasmus+ -ohjelmasta. The data were collected for the cross-European EUROSTUDENT VI study, forming the Finnish part of the survey. Main themes surveyed included economic circumstances and time use of students, progress in studies, international mobility, and future expectations and plans. The study was co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union. Questions covered the respondents' current programme of study, as well as satisfaction with the current programme and its contents. The survey also charted the respondents' gap years, and qualifications and employment background before enrolling in the current programme. Further questions were asked about the respondents' expectations for getting a job after graduation and the salary they expected to receive a year after graduation. Inquiries were also made about possible postgraduate studies as well as studies abroad, including time as an exchange student. Living conditions and economic circumstances were studied with questions on housing, as well as monthly income and expenses. The respondents were asked whether they had taken out a student loan or were planning to do so, and which factors had had an impact on their decision. Time use was investigated by asking about paid work done during the semester, factors affecting progress of studies, time spent on studying per week, and whether the respondents had progressed in their studies as planned. International mobility was investigated by asking about study periods abroad and other issues related to study abroad (funding, expectations, reasons, obstacles). Personal conditions were further studied by asking the respondents whether they had children and how many, and whether the was anything that hindered their studies (e.g. long-term health conditions, learning difficulties, disabilities). Some questions focused on family background, surveying the education level and social standing of the respondents' parents. Background variables included, among others, the respondent's age (categorised), gender, language skills, country of birth, field of study, year of study, whether the respondent was a student at a university or a university of applied sciences, and whether the respondent had children. The education level and countries of birth of the respondent's parents were also surveyed
