The aim of the study as part of the ‘Metavorhaben Digitalisierung im Bildungsbereich’ (Digi-EBF) was to identify research gaps in media didactics, media pedagogy and media education. This was intended to create an overarching understanding of which topics should be researched in more detail. In a first step, research gaps were identified on the basis of critical reviews carried out in Digi-EBF and assigned to six key topics as a basis for the questionnaire. This was followed by a survey of German-speaking researchers to determine the social relevance, prioritisation in the processing and the type of systematically selected research gaps. A total of 290 academics who conduct research in the context of education and digitalisation took part in the survey. In addition to scientific findings, the results are relevant for political decisions regarding the organisation of educational research funding in Germany.

Friends and Foes: the instrumentalisation of Israel and Iran in the Maghreb

    No full text
The research data described below was collected as part of the SWP study "Friends and Foes: the instrumentalisation of Israel and Iran in the Maghreb". The period of qualitative research and data collection was from 1.1.2020 to 31.1.2024. The project was designed to be exploratory. The central research question that emerged was how decision-makers in the three Maghreb states of Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia attempt to influence attitudes and discourses on Israel and Iran and use them for domestic and foreign policy purposes. Further, subordinate research questions can be derived from this: How are Israel and Iran portrayed in official discourses and sources? What public moods and resonance does the respective state control encounter? Where does it reach its limits and what domestic and foreign policy risks are associated with the instrumentalization of Israel and/or Iran? To this end, texts from the news agencies of Algeria and Morocco were collected, coded and analyzed for the official framing. Arabic language Twitter data was collected and analyzed in order to depict public and political moods. Qualitative interviews were conducted, Facebook pages were qualitatively evaluated and opinion polls from the region were used for a comparison. These qualitative analysis are not included in the data set.The research data described below was collected as part of the SWP study "Friends and Foes: the instrumentalisation of Israel and Iran in the Maghreb". No full text
The code/syntax includes the data retrieval and describes the quantitative analysis presented in the named reference. For our analysis, we use data (v4.0) from the 2010 and 2014 waves of the “Panel on Household Finances” (PHF). We explore the relationship between subjective well-being (SWB), income, household wealth, and its components. Additionally, we explore the significance of one's wealth relative to others' for SWB. We perform panel OLS regressions using individual fixed effects on the balanced panel. We have also carried out numerous robustness checks, which can also be found in the code. The code/syntax includes the data retrieval and describes the quantitative analysis presented in the named reference. SOECBIAS-COVREF Data Set

    No full text
The SOECBIAS-COVREF data set is an output of two research projects: The interdisciplinary research project SOECBIAS, funded by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs in Germany and the research project COVREF, funded by the German Research Foundation, both conducted at the Universität Hamburg. SOECBIAS started in May 2019 and ended in December 2021 and studied income perceptions and redistributive preferences combining inequality research with social policy and welfare state research in economics and sociology. SOECBIAS addressed three main questions: How do Europeans perceive national and European social policy? What explains the perception of one’s own income position within the EU income distribution? What are the consequences of these perceptions for the assessment of redistribution measures? Since the SOECBIAS survey period overlapped with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic it became an additional focus of the project and evolved into a further research project (COVREF) which started in June 2022 and ended in June 2024. This research project focused on the individual affectedness by the COVID-19 pandemic from an objective and subjective point of view. The two leading questions for COVREF were: What influence do objectively measurable factors like illness, job loss or loss of income during the COVID-19 pandemic have on the subjective assessment of economic affectedness and the perception of one’s own income position? What impact do comparisons with reference groups or reference points have on the perception and assessment of economic affectedness? The SOECBIAS-COVREF data set is an output of two research projects: The interdisciplinary research project SOECBIAS, funded by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs in Germany and the research project COVREF, funded by the German Research Foundation, both conducted at the Universität Hamburg. Replication material: Visualising the Dynamics and Potential of Economic Relations between Germany and Turkey

    No full text
This methodological report focuses on the analysis and visualization of trade data between Germany and Turkey from 2012 to 2023, specifically examining the export flows from Turkey to Germany in 2023, the import flows from Germany to Turkey in 2023, and the trends in the top sectors of trade from 2010 to 2023. Germany and Turkey maintain strong economic ties, particularly in trade, which forms a crucial pillar of their bilateral relationship. These economic ties, alongside shared political, cultural, and institutional dimensions, highlight the potential for even deeper cooperation. The analysis is based on data from the UN Comtrade database, processed and aggregated to provide insights into key trends in bilateral trade. The Harmonized System (HS) 2012 classification was used to ensure consistency across the years, enabling the generation of figures that capture the dynamics of trade flows. This report details the methods used to clean and aggregate the raw data into intermediate products, allowing for the replication and further use of the figures and results. While Germany and Turkey's relationship is multi-faceted, this report emphasizes the economic aspect, providing a solid foundation for understanding the evolving trade patterns and their implications for future cooperation.
