Acts of resistance: Exploring undergraduate medical students’ experiences with social spaces

    No full text
This study explores the role of social spaces in shaping medical students’ experiences. Our research question is: “how does the design and management of student social space influence students' experience of this space?” We interviewed 13 students, seven personal tutors, and two administrators, and reviewed internal documents and historical minutes of meetings. Our findings point to the important role of social spaces in medical education.<BR

    No full text

By relying on a mixed-methods, comparative approach, this study aims to understand the evaluation of experts (interviews) in the goldsmith field as well as of visitors (survey) to jewelry fairs in the Netherlands and Germany. The data of this research derives from interviews and surveys. Two sets of semistructured interviews with seven experts in the goldsmith field in the Netherlands and Germany were undertaken, resulting in 14 datasets in total. In addition, a survey among visitors to the jewelry fair Sieraad Art Fair in Amsterdam, the Netherlands and to the Grassi Messe in Leipzig, Germany, was executed over two days. The interviews were conducted online via Microsoft Teams by the same researcher103 and transcribed by a professional agency in either Dutch or German.104 The online conversations ranged from 30 to 75 minutes and took place between May and June 2023 with the Dutch experts, and from November 2023 until January 2024 with the German experts. Visitors to the Sieraad Art Fair in Amsterdam (the Netherlands) and the Grassi Messe in Leipzig (Germany) were suitable participants since they are interested in jewelry and therefore might want to share their thoughts regarding the valuation of the goldsmith craft in their country. The survey at Sieraad was contucted on Fr 19/05/2023 and Sa. 20/05/2023. And at the Grassi Messi it was on Fr. 20/10/2023 and Sa, 21/10/2023

This datafile includes spatial data, survey data and an ABM model used and generated in a Ph research project. The research aimed to investigate the impact of wildfire management strategies on the outcome of informal settlements and wildfire at a fire-dependent wildland urban interface. Datasets were collected to firstly frame the spatial extent of landcover change and fire patterns change from 1990-2019. Following this a survey was done to investigate the decision-making of residents under fire risk to stay in the informal settlement. This was followed up with the development of an agent based model that used the data collected to investigate the impact of varying wildfire management strategies on settlement patterns and wildland health outcomes

Title Instruction Meets Experience: Using Theory- and Experience-Based Methods to Promote the Use of Desirable Difficulties SummaryThis study aimed to promote the self-regulated use of desirable difficulties – interleaved practice in particular – through theory-based instruction (i.e., refutations) and experience-based support (i.e., visual feedback prompts). 120 self-claimed university students were recruited from Prolific participant pool. The study was designed and conducted on Qualtrics. Participants received a combination of theory- and experience-based support and chose the strategy they wanted to use in the subsequent learning tasks. Data Description 1. Quantitative Data • Perceived effort ratings • Perceived learning ratings • Classification performance • Learning strategy choices • Membership to the intervention conditions • Reasons for using blocked or interleaved practice 2. Qualitative Data • Answers to prompt questions in Visual Feedback Prompts. 3. Codes • PE. Perceived Effort a. PE_B indicates blocking and PE_I indicates interleaving. b. Chronologically ordered • PL. Perceived Learning a. PE_B indicates blocking and PE_I indicates interleaving. b. Chronologically ordered • Str. Strategy choice a. Binary coded: 1 Blocking; 2 Interleaving. b. Chronologically ordered. • Classification performance a. Indicated by the names of the artists. b. Chronologically ordered. <BR

Study 1: Designing feedback processes in the workplace-based learning of undergraduate health professions education: a scoping review.

    No full text
This scoping review explores how feedback processes are designed and organized in undergraduate clinical workplace-based learning environments. Recognizing that feedback plays a critical role in guiding learners toward improvement and professional development, this study aimed to map the range and nature of evidence on feedback practices in clinical education, with a particular focus on sociocultural dimensions. A search was conducted across seven major databases and ten key medical education journals. After a screening process supported by the StArt program, 61 studies were included from an initial pool of 4,877. A thematic analysis was carried out using a feedback loop model with a sociocultural lens as the guiding framework. Two themes were identified in the qualitative analysis: the organization of the feedback processes in workplace-based learning environments and sociocultural factors influencing the organization of feedback processes. The literature describes multiple feedback strategies that generate feedback information. Most papers described experiences and perceptions, without establishing what strategies work to use feedback to improve performance. Sociocultural factors such as establishing a feedback culture, enabling stable and trustworthy relationships, and enhancing student feedback agency are crucial for productive feedback processes. The attached files are the code list used for the thematic analysis and the full dataset of the included studies in the scoping review.<BR
