A cross sectional study was conducted among workers in 16 stone crushing units to know the health status and various factors influencing on health numbering 150. Out of 150 workers 13.33% were below 25 years and none were above 55 years. In the present study 63.33% workers were illiterates. 80% workers were married and 20% were unmarried. In the present study 84% workers had an exposure of dust for less than 5 years. Major morbidities among the workers with PEFR<400L/min were cough (72.55%),musculoskeletal disorders (60.78%), breathlessness (40.05%), chest pain (39.22%) and skin disorders (39.22%), Major morbidity amongst workers with PEFR (400-600L/min) were cough, (45.33%), musculoskeletal disorders (38%), and breathlessness (26%). There was no association between education status and morbidity.Smokers had PEFR<400L/min. In the present study there was highly significant association between lung function parameters (PEFR) and age. In the present study lung functionparameter was related to duration of exposure, which was highly significant. In the present study there was association between Hb% and lung parameter (PEFR). (I.e. lower the Hb% lowers the PEFR). In thepresent study 54.90% (28) had no respiratory morbidity but PEFR was less than 400L/min

EVALUATION OF FAMILIAL ORAL LICHEN PLANUS : PRESENTATION OF 3 FAMILIES

    Get PDF
Lichen planus (LP) is a relatively common disorder of the stratified squamous epithelia, which is, in many ways, an enigma. Lichen planus is probably of multi-factorial origin, sometimes induced by drugs or dental materials, often idiopathic, and with an immune-pathogenesis involving T-cells in particular. The occurrence of OLP appears to be complex, with interactions between and among genetic, environmental, and even lifestyle factors. Familial occurrence of alo has always been a debated topic with a limited literature available to support the relevance. In this case report series a total of 112 OLP cases were examined, out of which 3 families with a total of 7 patients were found to be having the familial correlation. The main objective of this paper is to present a case report series of 7 patients based on their familial correlation

Twenty samples of candy sweet were related to Turkish and china's companies collected from local Iraqi markets to measure the concent-rations of some heavy metals (Cd, Pb , Ni and Zn) , also evaluate the microbial quality includes: bacteria and fungi in these tested products. The results revealed that most of studied samples do not exceed the acceptable values were proposed from both WHO and Iraqi standards except the samples N and T. The same results were recorded for Pb concentrations except the J, L and S samples which recorded 0.081, 0.071 and 0.092 ppm , respectively. The concentrations of Ni recorded 0.03,0 .05,nil,nil,0.06 and 0.01 ppm , respectively in the samples F,I,L,R and 20.   The previous values less than the acceptable limits but other exceed thes values, while the samples do not recorded values that exceed the acceptable limits of Zn in WHO or Iraqi standards.Bacterial growth was recognize in the samples A,C,I,J,L,O,P,Q and R with numbers 46,9,31, 11,1,11,24,19 and CFU\g , respectively. Also , yeast found in the following studied samples F,G,J,L,M,N and T, respectively. but do not recorded in other samples, while molds were founding with the following numbers 1,34,39,11,17,7,16,17,9,6,25,13,29 and 8 CFU\ g in the samples A,B,C,D,E, G,I,J,K,N,O,P,Q and R, respectively .According to the previous results, it can conclude that the tested samples of candy not suitable for healthy use by children

Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal database, named iAMF (www.amfungi.aurobindo.du.ac.in) is first digital database onbiodiversity and phylogeny of these beneficial fungi in India. It provides access to data on 161 species of arbuscularmycorrhizal fungi (AMF) along with comprehensive information on their GPS location of reported occurrence, taxonomy, molecular sequence, phylogeny and bibliography. The database is based on primary data collected by authors throughongoing surveys (year 2009-2017) and secondary data from earlier studies (2008–2016). Data is carefully curated to verifythat it corresponds to the reference publication and a valid species name is used. Apart from being ecological meta-analysisdata source, it would have significant application in selection of non-indigenous AMF inoculum in agriculture, reforestation, horticultural and land reclamation practices

Introduction: Heart failure is a serious and costly condition. Health expenditures related to heartfailure continue to increase. In Madagascar, the failure of the social and health insurance systemprompted us to estimate these expenses in order to assess the impact on patients' financial status. The objective of our study was to evaluate the direct costs of managing heart failure.Methodology: This was a cross-sectional descriptive study in the Intensive Cardiological CareUnit of the Befelatanana Teaching Hospital from February to April 2019. All patients admittedfor heart failure who responded to the questionnaires were included. Patients with incompleterecords or who have filed out against medical decision have been excluded. Results: Thirty cases were selected. Mean age was 52.33 +/- 17.11 years with a gender-ratio was1. Average cost of hospitalization was 1, 536, 066,66 Ariary for an average hospital stay of 14.96+/- 12.28 days. This cost represented 9.8 times the Malagasy Guaranteed MinimumInterprofessional Salary. The breakdown of this cost is as follows: pharmaceutical costs andconsumables: 39.06%, fees for acts and additional examinations: 31.27%; living expenses:20.15%; expenses for accompanying persons: 5.58%. More than 80% were the responsibility ofaccompanying persons and/or families. Conclusion: Heart failure is a condition that is very expensive in Madagascar. It is essential tohave a good health insurance system and focus on prevention

HODGKIN’S DISEASE VARIANT OF RICHTER’S SYNDROME: A CASE REPORT WITH REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE

    Get PDF
The transformation chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) into Richter syndrome represents aggressive clinical evolution of CLL. In most cases, this transformation corresponds to diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, but in very rare cases it can lead to Hodgkin's Disease Variant of Richter's Syndrome. We report a case of CLL transformed into Hodgkin's disease type of Richter's Syndrome in a 70-year-old male patient. Microscopic examination showed the presence of large tumor cells with the morphological and immunophenotypic features in favor of classical Hodgkin and Reed-Sternberg cells. The transformation of CLL into Hodgkin's disease poses a problem of histogenetic diagnosis. According to the literature, the clonal relationship between CLL and Hodgkin's disease is likely with prognostic value. Two forms of Hodgkin's Disease Variant of Richter's Syndrome are described with different prognoses: a form that corresponds to a true transformation of the CLL into a Hodgkin's disease, a poor prognosis and a second form that corresponds to the co-existence of CLL and Hodgkin's disease with better prognosis
