Correlation of Serum Cholesterol and S.C.B.R. in Control study of Essential Hypertension Patient
Introduction:Arteriosclerosis, a Genetic term for Thickening and Hardening of the Arterial Wall is now responsible for the Majority of Deaths. Arthrosclerosis”was First Introduced by Marchand In 1904. Atherosclerosis may be Accelerated by a Decreased Clearance of Cholesterol from Arterial WallSecondary to a Reduction of Plasma Concentration of H.D.L. In Atherosclerotic Lesion, the Lipid Content of Elastin increases Progressively withincreasing Severity of Atherosclerosis. The Increases in the Lipid Content of Plaque Elastin are Mainly due to large increases in Cholesterol.Aim: Correlation of Serum Cholesterol and S.C.B.R. in Control study of Essential Hypertension.Inclusion Criteria:25 patients of essential hypertension.Exclusion Criteria: Nonsmokers and Secondary Hypertension.Methodology: Obtain Serum specimen in usual way, alternatively EDTA plasma may also be used as specimen. The sample should preferable be12- 14 hours fasting and using the principle of Serum Cholesterol and SCBR, readings has come out, the readings are further calculated.Result: Mean S.C.B.R. was 59.719+6.99 mg% and mean serum cholesterol was 186.8+32.009 mg% in 25 controls. Correlation coefcientbetween serum cholesterol and S.C.B.R. was +0.706 (p <0.001), denoting that S.C.B.R. rises with increasing level of cholesterol in control.Conclusion: The study shows signicance coo-relation between Serum cholesterol and S.B.C.
PHENOTYPIC AND ALLELIC DISTRIBUTION OF ABO AND Rh-DBLOOD GROUPS IN BLOOD TRANSFUSION CENTER OFAVICENNA MILITARY HOSPITAL, MARRAKECH, MOROCCO
Introduction: the purpose of our work was to present new national statistical of phenotypic and genotypic prevalence ofABO and Rhesus (D) blood groups using a new sample.Materials and Methods: This study was carried out in the department of blood transfusion center of the Avicenna Militaryhospital Marrakech on a sample of 8077 young recruits between 1/1/2015and 12/31/2015. This is a military population fromdifferent Moroccan region, composed by 98% of men and 2% of women, whose ages range between 18 and 21 years.Results: The blood group “O” was found in approximately half of the samples (49,01%), the rate of group A (31.47%) wastwo times higher than that of group B (15.15%), group AB was the least frequent (4.35%).We note a clear predominance of the Rh positive subjects (89.86%) compared to the Rh negative subjects (10.13%) in ourMoroccan population. Regarding the frequency of the genotypes of our population we have the following results: O allelewas the most common, its prevalence was 89.82%, the A allele was in second position with a frequency of 19, 90 %, alleleB was the least frequent (10, 28%). The allele D (RH1) (68.17%) was dominant over the d (RH-1) allele(31.82%).Discussion and conclusion: Our results are compared to previous similar studies carried out in Morocco and inother countries. These results are identical to those found in Mediterranean countries and shows that Morocco is in anintermediate situation between the countries of Europe and those of Sub-Saharan Africa
THE RTS,S/AS MALARIA VACCINE CANDIDATE: A STATUSREVIEW
The RTS,S/AS malaria vaccine candidate is currently the most advanced in development. It is based on thecircumsporozoite protein (CSP) combined with hepatitis B surface antigen. The vaccine is designed to prevent the malariaparasite from infecting the liver where it can mature, multiply, and re-enter the bloodstream, where it infects red blood cellsand leads to symptomatic disease. This review documents the development process of the RTS,S/AS malaria vaccinecandidate, from preclinical and early clinical trials to the recently concluded Phase III clinical trials. The final resultsdemonstrated that vaccination with the 3-dose primary series reduced clinical malaria cases by 28% in young children and18% in infants. A booster dose of RTS, S/AS, administered 18 months after the primary series, reduced the number of casesof clinical malaria in young children (aged 5-17 months at first vaccination) by 36% and in infants (aged 6-12 weeks at firstvaccination) by 26%. Administration of the booster dose provided longer term protection against clinical malaria in bothgroups, with 1774 and 983 cases of malaria averted per 1000 children vaccinated in the older (age 5-17 months) and infant(6-12 weeks) age groups, respectively. The vaccine efficacy waned over time following the booster dose and further studiesare ongoing to assess long term efficacy and the need for additional doses .The safety profile of the vaccine was acceptable.The vaccine has the potential to make a substantial contribution to malaria control when used in combination with othereffective control measures, especially in areas of high transmission

AimThe purpose of this research is to study the formation of anti-inflammatory IL-4 cytokine and some indicators of moderate andsevere preeclampsia, and normotensive pregnancies in the third trimester of pregnancyMaterial and methodsThis is a single center study of 100 women with third trimester pregnancies. All patients gave their informed consent prior toinclusion in the study.Patients were divided into two groups: 50 women with pregnancies complicated by varying degrees ofpreeclampsia and control group of 50 normotensive pregnancies.Cytokine levels in the serum were measured by the "sandwich" method of solid-phase enzyme immunoassay using doubleantibody.Statistical data processing was done using the SPSS13.0 software for Windows. Logistic regression analysis (Binary LogisticRegression) was used to determine the predictive role of the parameters analyzed in the occurrence of severe preeclampsia.ResultsThe obtained values of Pearson- coefficients’ linear correlation (r) indicate that IL-4 negatively correlates with LDH, creatinine,uric acid and proteinuria, and positively correlates with number of blood platelets. RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN WHITE BLOOD CELL (WBC) COUNTAND C-REACTIVE PROTEIN (CRP) WITH ANGIOGRAPHICSEVERITY OF CORONARY ARTERY DISEASE IN PATIENTS WITHACUTE CORONARY SYNDROME
Background: Inflammation plays an important role in the initiation and progression of atherosclerosis and systemic bloodmarkers of inflammation like white blood cell count and C-reactive protein have emerged as powerful predictor of coronaryevents. This study was carried out to evaluate the relationship between baseline white blood cell count and C-reactiveprotein with angiographic severity of coronary artery disease in patients with acute coronary syndrome and to identify thosesubsets of patients with acute coronary syndrome who may need to undergo invasive strategy.Method: A total of 100 patients with acute coronary syndrome including unstable angina, non-ST elevation myocardialinfarction and ST elevation myocardial infarction (not thrombolysed ) were evaluated in Department of Cardiology, SawaiMan Singh Medical College & Hospital, Jaipur , Rajasthan, India with a aim to correlate baseline white blood cell countand C-reactive protein with angiographic severity of coronary artery disease.Results: This study observed that raised white blood cell count and raised C-reactive protein independently andcombination of both raised white blood cell count and CRP were significantly associated with angiographic more severecoronary artery disease in form of multi vessel disease ,high stenosis score, more complex lesions and reduced TIMI flowgrading.Conclusion: Raised white blood cell count and C- recactive protein in patient with acute coronary syndrome are associatedwith angiographic features of severe coronary artery disease. Both these markers can be used as a simpler tool for riskstratification patients with acute coronary syndrome
TOXICOLOGICAL EFFECT OF AQUEOUS EXTRACTS OF Crotonlobatus L. AND Schrankia leptocarpa L. IN RATS MODEL
Croton lobatus L. (Euphorbiaceae) and Schrankia leptocarpa (Mimosaceae) showed interesting activities against Plasmodium and microbial strains. Considering these biological activities and the extensive use of these plants in traditional medicine, the toxicological profile of their aqueous extracts was assessed using oral acute toxicity in the rat model. Acute toxicity of aqueous extracts of tested plants was assessed at a dose of 2000 mg/kg as per Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, guideline n° 423. The rats were observed for signs of toxicity or death after administra- tion of extracts. Distilled water was used for control rats. Blood samples were collected and used to evaluate biochemistry and hematology parameters. Histopathological evaluation was also done on liver and kidney. The results revealed that all tested animals were physically active during the test. No signs of toxicity or morbidity in rats treated with extracts were observed. There were no significant variations in the biochemical and hematological parameters between rats treated with aqueous extract of Schrankia leptocarapa and those received distilled water. A significant decrease of serum alanine aminotransferaseand Creatinine (P = 0.01) level was observed in rats treated with aqueous extract of Croton lobatus while a significantly increased level of RBC (P = 0.04) and Hematocrit (P = 0.01). Histopathological examination of liver and kidney sections of rats treated with 2000 mg/kg body weight of aqueous extracts of Croton lobatus, Schrankia leptocarpa did not show any changes when compare to control rats. These results indicate that the oral administration of aqueous extracts (decoction) of Croton lobatus and Schrankia leptocarpa did not produce any significant toxic effect in rats

Over the last decades pediatric obesity has become global epidemic with an estimate of 45 million children and adolescent being affected and this is exponentially increasing. Obesity is leading to a significant mortality and morbidity.Aims and Objective:1 .To determines the prevalence of overweight and obesity among high school students.2. .To assesses the risk factors associated with Overweight and Obesity in them.3. To suggest interventional strategies for prevention and control of overweight and obesity.Design: A cross sectional study was conducted among 13- 15years high school students.
