The data is retrieved from the publication Tarlier H., Liste alphabétique des notaires de Belgique depuis l'origine du notariat jusqu'en juillet 1864 : supplém. jusqu'au 31 Décembre 1865, Tarlier H. 1865, p.367. The dataset contains the names, locations, and periods of active service per notary. The locations are geocoded on the municipal level using NISCODES
Replication Data for Exploring Modern Bank Penetration: Evidence from the Early 20th-Century Netherlands
No full textThe files (R and CSV) contain the replication data for our analysis of a set of 2,355 death duty forms from the Netherlands in 1921, presented in our article “Exploring Modern Bank Penetration in the Netherlands in the 20th Century,” published in Economic History Review. A detailed description of this dataset is available in Ruben Peeters and Amaury de Vicq. “Inheritance Taxation Records in the Netherlands in 1921: The Memories Database” (forthcoming in 2023). The database itself is currently stored on the servers of University of Antwerp as part of the datafiles of the Social History of Finance Reserach Group. The paper also uses two other datasets, Tafel Vbis and the Dutch Banking Database (1880-1940). The Tafel Vbis dataset is described in a published paper by Ruben Peeters and Amaury de Vicq: de Vicq, A., & Peeters, R. No full textCamp nazi de Ravensbrück, 1940-1945 : Le parcours concentrationnaire des Dames déportées de Belgique et des Dames entrées en Belgique après la guerre. Ce jeu de données contient un aperçu de toutes les données biographiques compilées à partir des dossiers individuels.
Le listing principal de ce projet est le Fichier Ravensbrück du Service des Victimes de Guerre, travail de Berthe Bernard, alias Nina Erauw. Il est composé de fiches individuelles des déportées, classées par ordre alphabétique, ayant ou non le statut de PP (Prisonnières Politiques), de NN (Nacht und Nebel), de travailleuses volontaires (TV) ou obligatoires (TO), d’otages, de déportées raciales, juives ou tziganes. Chaque fiche reprend les données de base des dossiers personnels et suit leur parcours concentrationnaire.
À ce fichier, s’ajoute la liste de l’Amicale belge des anciennes prisonnières politiques et ayants droit du camp de Ravensbrück. Elle reprend, par noms de jeune-fille, les résistantes et/ou celles qui sont arrêtées pour leur comportement et déportées à Ravensbrück.
Vient ensuite, le fichier Anfrage Belgien, réalisé par la Mahn- und Gedenkstätte Ravensbrück, Stiftung Brandenburgische Gedenkstätten, à Fürstenberg, qui me fut envoyé, à la fin de l’été 2008. Cette liste reprend les noms des déportées par ordre alphabétique, la date de naissance et le numéro matricule ; pour les dames mariées, c’est le nom d’épouse qui prévaut. De nombreuses variantes orthographiques dans l’écriture des noms propres vont jusqu’à encoder plusieurs fois la même personne.
L’identification de chacune des déportées s’est faite sur base des renseignements du Service international de Recherches (SIR) à Bad Arolsen, disponible aux Archives générales du Royaume (AGR)

Each wave includes approximately 5,000 respondents and features an experimental component. In Wave 1, the experiment assesses preferences for policies implemented by either a technocratic or a partisan minister. Wave 2 replicates the experimental design with a different policy while also introducing an additional experiment to evaluate preferences for mixed decision-making processes

Enquête sur la fréquentation des écoles de Louvain-la-Neuve
No full textDans le cadre du plan de construction de nouveaux lotissements à Louvain-la-Neuve se posait la question de déterminer les besoins scolaires (écoles primaires et maternelles) qu’il faudrait rencontrer du fait de l’arrivée de nouveaux ménages avec enfant(s) à Louvain-la-Neuve.
A la suite de premières analyses, il s'est avéré que seulement 37% des enfants fréquentant les 5 établissements de la ville résidaient dans la commune. Dès lors une question se posait, qu’est-ce qui pouvait inciter des parents résidant hors Louvain-la-Neuve à scolariser leurs enfants sur le site. Une hypothèse semblait s’imposer, ces parents travaillaient à Louvain-la-Neuve. Cette hypothèse si elle se vérifiait imposerait d’intégrer un autre paramètre dans l’équation, le développement de l’activité économique sur le site de Louvain-la-Neuve et le nombre d’emplois y liés.
Pour répondre à cette question, une enquête a été réalisée auprès des parents dont les enfants fréquentes les écoles de Louvain-la-Neuve

No full textThe State Archives in Brussels (Belgium) hold more than 154,000 original nominal file cards that provide an entry to the collection of individual foreigners' files between 1830 to 1890. The files were transferred to the State Archives in 1948 and cover about 286 meters. They are arranged chronologically according to the opening date. The alphabetically ordered nominal file cards, that contain basic individual details on each foreigner such as name, geographical origin, occupation and file number, constitute the main source to retrieve a person's file.
The archives of the Foreigners Police form a unique and essential source for both genealogical and historical research. In October 2015, the IMMIBEL project 'Outcast or Embraced? Clusters of Foreign Immigrants in Belgium c. 1840-1890' started under the guidance of Dr Bart Willems and Filip Strubbe. The project was funded by the Federal Science Policy Office within the framework of the research program BRAIN-be. The aim of the project was to provide a digitally accessible index to the file cards, so that the Foreigners' files are easier to find and consult. For two years project employee Sarah Heynssens was responsible for coordinating the entry of the data from the file cards into a database.
