Hyperspectral calibration database on fresh yam to predict hardness

    No full text
This database contains 152 average spectra from hyper spectral images of fresh yam samples acquired in CIRAD (France). Image were collected using a Specim FX17 hyper spectral camera. Seven different varieties from the Yam collection in Guadeloupe were used for the study. This database contains also textural data measured on the same yam samples: Hardness. Data was acquired using MEGHAR, K., DAVRIEUX, F., & ALAMU, E. (2020). SOP for Hyperspectral Imaging Analysis of Fresh RTB Crops. High-Throughput Phenotyping Protocols (HTPP), WP3. Montpellier, France: RTBfoods Project Report, 12 p

Gendered Food Mapping Data on Boiled Yam generated by UAC-FSA & IITA in Benin

    No full text
This dataset contains data generated during the Activity 3 or Step 2 - Gendered food mapping - performed by the UAC-FSA & IITA team in Benin on Boiled Yam, within the RTBfoods project (following the Methodological Guidance). This dataset may contain diverse types of anonymized data (e‧g. questionnaires, cleaned and processed data) which is to be available on open access following a 2-years embargo after the end of the RTBfoods project (embargo ending date: 15 March 2025) This dataset may also contain non-anonymized data (e‧g. raw data, consent forms signed by interviewees) which cannot be made publicly available, at any time; non-anonymized data is contained in the .tar‧gz file. For more information about the content of the .tar‧gz file, you are invited to contact the authors mentioned in the metadata

Experimental dataset on root impact density in sugarcane legume intercropping and weed-covered systems in a plant crop in Reunion Island

    No full text
Understanding the belowground interaction in multi-species intercropping agrosytems is critical to improve the sustainability of agriculture. This study aims to assess the sugarcane root growth and distribution in intercropping with legume and weeds in the inter-row. Root growth was studied in weed-free sugarcane, sugarcane legume intercropping and sugarcane with weeds in the inter-row. Root intersects were measured at 3.5, 6, 8 and 11 months old in a plant crop in two vertical trenches per age and treatment (1.5 m width x 1.2 m depth) in 5x5 cm2 squares. Root front was defined in each trench as the deepest soil layer including roots. Aboveground biomass was also measured at the same dates by harvesting 3 row of 3 m of sugarcane above each trench

NIRS Database on cassava flour for Dry Matter & starch at NRCRI, Nigeria

    No full text
Cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) is a major root crop in the tropics and its starchy roots are significant sources of calories for more than 500 million people worldwide especially Nigeria. Cassava breeders aim to produce many clones rapidly with desired agronomic traits. Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) is a physical detection method that was developed in recent decades. This technique is based on the correlation between chemical properties and the absorption of light at specific wavelengths in the near-infrared region. A rapid and accurate method for determining dry matter (DM) content of cassava root will be valuable and help the breeders in selecting clones with good traits. This database contains the spectra of fresh intact cassava roots harvested at NRCRI Umudike Nigeria (between August and September 2020) with the use of Portable/handheld NIRS (Quality SpecTrek). A total number of 1764 spectra were acquired from 98 (ninety-eight) clones of fresh intact cassava roots. Three different sizes of cassava roots (big, medium and small sized) were cut in horizontal positions C1 (proximal), C3 (central), and C5 (distal). Calibration model developed for dry matter content (DM) showed the mean and standard deviation to be 39.44 and 4.73 respectively with the standard error of laboratory at 0.76. An SOP on the protocol for the determination of DM on fresh intact cassava root using a handheld NIRS has been linked to this database. The ASD hand-held NIRS was acquired by NRCRI (National Root Crops Research Institute) Umudike Nigeria in the year 2016

Data on weed cover, weed biomass and rice yield in conventional and no-till low-inputs based cropping systems in Mid-West of Madagascar

    No full text
This dataset contains weed cover observation in rainfed rice field considering overall weed cover and cover per weed species, rice yield and weed biomass at rice harvest to study the effect of soil cover management (tillage or no tillage) and weed management (weedy, unweeded, or weed and stylosanthes (in NT cropping systems) weeded) and weed and stylosanthes harmfulness on rainfed rice yield. We conducted this experiment from November 2015 to April 2018, consequently it covers three rainfed rice cropping seasons

NIRS Database on cassava milled Gari at IITA, Nigeria

    No full text
This database consists of spectra data collected on milled gari using the benchtop FOSS Near-Infrared Spectrometer (NIRS) with serial number 3013-0857. A total of 64 spectra data were collected in a duplicate scan of 32 gari samples. The Spectra data were collected in IITA, Nigeria, in the year 2020. Repeatability of the NIRS was also checked by taking ten replicate measurements of a milled gari sample, and the RMSE (root means square error) was computed. The spectra data were collected using the developed SOP by the RTBfoods project
