Group Management and Affective Dialogue in Collaborative Work
No full textResearch and design of information systems in LIS has endeavoured to investigate human grouptasks and the role of creativity. The current study builds on the premise behind ComputerSupported Collaborative Work (CSCW), which is a design field aimed to facilitate group workthrough the application of computer technologies, driven by ever-changing contextual andenvironmental constraints. Using field observation, and a systematic quantification of the contentof group conversation, the study formulates a description of the creative work of musicians, andthe use of group management and affective dialogue during collaboration, with the goal ofinforming design. Reading for Alternatives: The Experiences of Young Women Who Read Sexuality-Themed Fiction Online
No full textThis paper examines the reading experiences and practices of young women who read sexualitythemed Young Adult Literature online. The findings of this study reveal that young women tend to seek out fiction in online spaces when they have reading interests or questions about sexuality that are not addressed in conventional Young Adult Literature. These readers reported that, from an early age, they sought out literature online that had explicit sexual content or focused on nonnormative topics such as LGBTQ relationships. They also identified comments sections as a significant aspect of their online reading experience which led to a sense of belonging to a reading community that is transparent, supportive and constructive about topics of sexuality.Cet article examine les expériences de lecture et les pratiques des jeunes femmes qui lisent en ligne de la littérature pour adultes à thème sexuel. Les résultats de cette étude révèlent que les jeunes femmes ont tendance à chercher de la fiction dans les espaces en ligne lorsque leurs intérêts de lecture ou leurs questions sur la sexualité ne sont pas abordés dans la littérature pour jeune adulte conventionnelle. Ces lectrices ont signalé que, dès leur plus jeune âge, elles ont cherché de la documentation en ligne ayant un contenu sexuel explicite ou axée sur des sujets non normatifs tels que les relations LGBTQ. Elles ont également identifié les sections de commentaires comme un aspect important de leur expérience de lecture en ligne, ce qui a conduit à un sentiment d\u27appartenance à une communauté de lecture qui est transparente, aidante et constructive sur les sujets de sexualité
The concentration of journal use in Canadian universities
No full textThis paper presents the results of an analysis of scholarly journal usage in 22 Canadian universities, sponsored by the Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN). Usage is assessed using citation data, usage data (downloads), as well as survey data. The results show a high concentration of journal usage in Canadian universities and a moderate correlation between the indicators used. We also find a significant overlap between the overall and “core” journal collections of universities.Cet article présente les résultats d\u27une analyse de l\u27utilisation des revues savantes dans 22 universités canadiennes, soutenue par le Réseau canadien de documentation pour la recherche (RCDR). L\u27utilisation est évaluée en utilisant des données de citation, des données d\u27utilisation (téléchargements), ainsi que des données d\u27enquête. Les résultats montrent une forte concentration de l\u27utilisation des revues dans les universités canadiennes et une corrélation modérée entre les indicateurs utilisés. Nous constatons également un chevauchement important entre les collections de revues globales et «de base» entre les universités
