Exploratory research on increasing motivation in (English) e-learning : Potentials of supervisor’s intervention in supporting e-learner’s self-regulated learning
The purpose of this study is to explore possible approaches to support e-learners’ self-regulated learning. The research was conducted through an English e-learning program for adult students. During the program, each e-learner received e-mail which informed them of their learning progress. Analyzing their performance (material consumption rate) and response to questionnaires (impressions about the e-mail sent to them) confirmed that those who were aware of e-mail communications from supervisors, and those who used e-mail as a means of objectively looking at their learning showed a better performance. Considering this result, it was concluded that supervisor intervention has the potential to support e-learners’ self-regulated learning.journal articl
