The Relationship between University Life Satisfaction and Retention to University: A Longitudinal Study with Satisfaction of University Life Scale with 21 Items（SoULS 21）
Get PDFP(論文)本研究は、大学へのリテンション、あるいは退学の心理的要因を大学生活充実度の観点から検討することを目 的とするものである。一つの大学・学部・学科に所属する 8 年度分の大学生 473 名を対象として、その 1 年次の 4 月（入学時点）、6 月、11 月での大学生活充実度を測定し、その後の退学との関連を検討した。大学生活充実度の測度と して、筆者らが開発した大学生活充実度尺度短縮版（SoULS 21）を用いた。その結果、非退学者が 4 月から 6 月に 交友満足が上昇するのと対照的に、退学者は 4 月では非退学者よりも交友満足が高いにもかかわらず、11 月の時点 で交友満足が非退学者よりも低下することが明らかになった。また、退学者は大学へのコミットメントが 6 月の段階 で下降し、11 月には非退学者よりも低くなることが示された。これらの結果は、大学へのリテンションあるいは退 学を、大学生活充実度の観点から予測することの有効性を示唆するとともに、大学生活充実度を測定する尺度として の SoULS 21 の妥当性と実用性を支持するものである。The aim of this research is to examine the psychological factors of student retention in universities from the viewpoint of university life satisfaction. For 8 years, We surveyed 473 incoming freshmen about the degree of university life in April（at the time of enrollment）, June and November of that year. We examined the relationship between university life satisfaction during their first year of the students and their retention. We used the Scale of University Life Satisfaction shortened version（SoULS 21）, developed by the authors.
The results showed that, contrary to the fact that non dropouts rose in companionship satisfaction from April to June, dropouts have higher companionship satisfaction than non dropouts in April, and companionship satisfaction declines more than non dropouts in November. In addition, dropouts showed that their commit- ment to the university fell from April to June and was lower in November than that of the non dropouts. These results supported the effectiveness of predicting retention to university from the viewpoint of university life satisfaction and the validity and practicality of SoULS 21 as a measure of university life satisfaction.departmental bulletin pape

What is “Beauty Studies”?: Reconsidering Its Scholarly Significance
Get PDFP(論文)「化粧学」とは何か。本論の目的は､ 大阪樟蔭女子大学にて化粧が明確にカリキュラムかされて 10 年目にあた り､ 新学問領域として提唱してきた「化粧学」について､ 改めてその意義を確認してみようというものである。まず､ 化粧を学問の俎上に挙げるために研究者はどのようなプランニングをしたのかを明らかにする。つぎに､ そのプラン の実践としての大阪樟蔭女子大学における化粧に関連するカリキュラムを時系列で追うことで､ 化粧学設置までにど のような経緯があったのかを調査する。そして､ 改めて化粧学が包括する学問領域についてその可能性を探る。最後 に､ 化粧学が学問としてその根底に何を含んでいるのか､ 近代知への疑義とともにあるポストモダンの思想について 依拠しながら論じる。また､ 美が持つイデオロギー性に着目しつつ、人が美に翻弄されそれを求め続ける存在である ことを理解し、美が人々の生活といかに関連しているか、豊かににしているかを既存の学問領域を縦断横断しながら 検討していく必要性について述べる。What is “beauty studies”? This paper investigates the scholarly significance of this topic. Osaka Shoin Women’s University has offered a curriculum in beauty studies for 10 years, in which time it has proposed new avenues of research in this area and sought to reaffirm the significance of such study. The present paper first aims to assert a planning process of beauty studies curricula. It then provides a chronological examination of beauty studies at Osaka Shoin Women’s University. This is followed by an examination of potential academic disciplines for inclusion among beauty studies. The paper also addresses what should be included in the foundations of beauty studies with regard to questions raised concerning present day know- ledge in line with postmodern thought. Additionally, it focuses on the ideology of aesthetics and recognizes that people are concerned with matters of beauty and have a strong desire for beauty, and a cross cutting perspective on the necessity of beauty studies is provided.departmental bulletin pape
